South East Tops

The South East Tops Competition will once again be held in Taghmon GAA Complex in 2017. Multi Award Winners KRH Tops Group will be taking part again this year and our show dates are as follows. Thursday, March 16, KRH Tops Group v Bree Variety Group and Friday, March 24, KRH Tops Group v Taghmon Tops Group.

Village Christmas

Kilrane Rosslare Harbour Tops Community Group would like to thank most sincerely all those who contributed in any way to the success of our sixth annual Village Christmas 2016. This evening fostered a lovely sense of community spirit and and made the Christmas celebrations even more special and neighbourly in Kilrane/Rosslare Harbour parish, with something for everyone on offer.

Special thanks to all those who donated raffle prizes, Murphys SuperValu, Mark and Caroline Davies, Hotel Rosslare, Ron O'Rourke, the local Lifeboat Crew under Coxswain Eamon O'Rourke, Fr Diarmuid Desmond for the use of our beautiful St Patrick's Church, Betty O'Connell, Ger Griffin, George Lawlor, Denis Comerford Una Ui Mhaolain, Diane O'Neill, Mirelle Howlin, Brian Mullens and the Naoimh Pádraig Folk Group. and all those who supported this event. Looking forward to celebrating another lovely Christmas in 2018. Happy New Year.

St Paul's AC

A huge well done to Maeve Hayes, who was awarded the Mr Oil Wexford Athlete of the month for October, this follows Maeve's fantastic results in the Schools combined events. A photo of Maeve receiving her award is on our Facebook page.

Training has now resumed for 2017, please check our Facebook page for full timetable. Our AGM takes place on Saturday, January 21, at 7 p.m. in Kilrane National School, we hope as many of you can make the meeting.

Bereavements

Sincere Sympathy is extended to the following families who suffered bereavements recently. Paddy Scanlan, Ballygall Road East, Dublin and late of Rosslare Harbour, passed away peacefully on December 3. Paddy worked most of his life at sea. His holidays were spent at Rosslare Harbour with his wife Bernie and family and he liked nothing better than spending a day's fishing off Tuskar Rock. He is sadly missed by his daughters Patricia and Mary, sons Donald, Hugh, Paul and Dermot, grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Paddy's funeral Mass was celebrated in Dublin, followed by removal to St Aidan's Cemetery, Kilrane where he was laid to rest beside his beloved wife Bernie (née Todd) who predeceased him.

May Holden, Kilcarragh, Kilfenora, Co Clare and late of Tenacre, Kilrane, passed away peacefully on December May 28's funeral service took place in St Fachanan's Church, Kilfenora. She was predeceased by her husband Captain Martin Holden and her son Shane. Sympathy is extended to her sons, grandchildren, daughters-in-law, relatives and friends.

Peter Carroll, Boher, Kilrane, husband of the late Stasia, passed away on December 28. He worked for British Rail at Rosslare Harbour. He had been in failing health but still enjoyed his visits to Tagoat Day Care Centre. Peter's Funeral Mass was celebrated in St Ruane's Church, with burial afterwards in St Aidan's Cemetery, Kilrane. He is sadly missed by his son Gerard, grandchildren Claire and Lee, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. May they Rest in Peace.

Free computer classes are being run for people with little or no computer experience in Kilrane National School commencing Monday, January 16, from 3.15 p.m. to 5.15 p.m. for five weeks. Learn how to keep in touch with family using email or skype. Find out how to pay your bills online, book flights or just browse things on the internet. The first meeting of 2017 will be held on Wednesday, January 18at 10.30 a.m. in the Cois Barry Centre. The implementation of our plans for 2017 starts now so we encourage all members friends or people with a love of Rosslare to attend, who knows you might even get a cup of tea and bicky.
