The Ballymurn 5K Run will take place on Sunday, January 22, at midday. Proceeds are to be divided between Temple Street Hospital and Ballymurn NS

Crossabeg-Ballymurn Ladies' Gaelic Football Club presents Operation Transformation and Between the Bells 2017, a community fitness activity for all the family - let's get fitter together.

Crossabeg Ballymurn Ladies' Gaelic Football Club organised this fundraiser to get the community active in 2016. It was a great success and we will be running the same format in January this year.

The fit-fun is on at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays till Tuesday, February 21. The final get together will take place on Tuesday, February 28. More information can be found on the Crossabeg-Ballymurn Ladies' Gaelic Football Facebook page.

Bingo is on every Monday night in the Anvil, Ballymurn.

The Over the Water Vintage club will hold their AGM on Wednesday, January 25, at 8 p.m. in the club room in Ballymurn Hall. Members and intending members are invited to attend.

U14 Ladies Football

School Enrolment

S.N. Seosamh Naofa, Bree is now accepting enrolments for September 2017. Enrolment packs can be collected at the school office or you can call the office (053 247725) for a pack to be posted out. Please return the completed enrolment forms by March 1.

GAA Triple Crown

Ballyhogue GAA Club isrunning the Triple Crown this year which will run throughout the month of February. Keep the following dates free in your calendar: Run/Walk on: February 5 @midday, Cycle on February 12 @midday, Bog Run on February 19 @midday the Run/Walk and cycling events are starting from Bree. A Wrap Up event will be held on February 25 in Byrnes of Bree Grain store.

Bree Penny/Euro Bank

Bree Penny Bank has now re-opened for 2017 for saving deposits. Deposit envelopes are available from Bree Post Office and Byrnes Shop. The penny bank is open to all members of the community and any amount can be lodged each week. This is an ideal way to save towards Christmas.

Guitar Classes

Desks for Sale

S.N. Seosamh Naofa have some old classroom tables and chairs for sale which would suit children from pre-school up to second class age. €10 for a table and two chairs. If you are interested please office on 9247725.

Bree Youth Club

Bree Youth Club's split-the-pot fundraiser is now up and running. Envelopes are available in local shops and at Youth Club each Friday night. Draw will take place on the first Saturday of each month. Please support this venture as all funds raised will go back into the youth club. The next senior disco will take place in Bree Community Centre on Friday next, January 27. Please remember that only those who respond to the text registering their intention to attend will be admitted to the disco. All attendees must be youth club members.

Bree AC athletes took to the track for the final round of the Winter League on Sunday last in the Hub, Enniscorthy. The sun shone and so did the athletes with all performing at their best. Well done to Roise Fraser, Tadhg Fraser, Cillian Bolger & Aine Breen in the tiny tots race

Congratulations to Sophie McCabe on receiving a Leinster All Star Award on Saturday night last at a celebration dinner in the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow.

Church Draw

Over the next few weeks the collectors of the Glenbrien Church Draw will be dropping a leaflet to all the houses in the parish, explaining about the draw and letting any new members who would like to join know how they can do so. They will arrange to call to you at a time that suits you best if you have any quieries please dont hesitate to contact any member of the church Development group or contact any of the collectors.

We would like to take the opportunity to say thanks to Carmel Murphy, who was looking after the church draw for the Last number of years as she has had give up the position as she has moved out of the parish. We would like to let Carmel know that all her hard work was very well appreciated and wish her all the best in her new parish.

Community Development

Before Christmas the Community Development Group held their AGM and a new committee was formed. The mmbers of the committee are as follows: John Doran - chairperson; Edel Kelly - secretary; John Roche - treasurer; Fr John Byrne; John Mernagh; John Lambert; Marie Quirke; Bernie Doyle; Niall O'Byrne Sinéad Carthy; Vawn Breen; Pat Mulvey.

The group will meet monthly to discuss and organise events and meetings to help build the Social element of the community along with the many practical issues which may arise in the day to day upkeep and maintenance of the church.

If you have any ideas information or events you would like to take place here in Glenbrien, or you are organising something that you would like to let everyone know about, please dont hesitate to contact any of the people listed above and together we can make it happen.

Sports Quiz

A sports quiz series in aid of county Wexford Hospice Homecare will be held in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate on February 6, 13 and 20. There is €1,000 in prizes and a table of four costs €40. The final will be held in the Whitford House Hotel on February 27.

Table quiz

Christine Lambert will be holding a table quiz in Mernagh's Lounge, Oylegate on Friday, February 3 at 9 p.m. in order to help fund raise a target of €2,600, as she is going out to south India in June for a month volunteering in an orphanage with UCD volunteering overseas.

There will also be a raffle during the table quiz with lots of good prizes including hampers and vouchers. It is €3 to enter raffle. Even if you can't attend table quiz you can still enter raffle. It is €5 per person at table quiz.

Christine will also be calling door to door around Glenbrien and Oylegate parishes selling raffle tickets.

The money raised goes towards flight and accommodation and the majority of the money goes towards projects out in India. In the past the funds have contributed towards building a new library and providing a children's home with educational and health equipment. Thanks for your support.

Kettlebell Classes

Kettlebell Power Fitness classes for ladies continue in Oylegate Community Centre on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Excercise mats and kettlebells are provided. Beginners and all fitness levels are welcome. For more info contact 087 6180872, or just arrive on the night.
