Orange Recycle Bins

Many thanks for your continued use of the parish recycle bin. Last quarter the amount lodged for Ballymurn was €125.24. Please keep up the good work.

Deepest Sympathy

Camogie half zips

The camogie club will be selling half zips in the coming weeks. Orders will be taken in the clubhouse on the following days and times only; Tuesday, September 5,, Friday, September 8, Monday, September 11, from 7.00 to 7.30 p.m. each evening. Deposit of €25 required on the night for each half zip ordered. Samples will be available to try on - kids and adult sizes.

Training Scheme

Career Opportunities Training Scheme (COTS) Kilmuckridge are holding an opening evening on Tuesday, September 12, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Cosher Centre beside the KMH. COTS is a WWETB (formerly Fás) training centre located in Kilmuckridge. We are offering the opportunity to complete a Level five in Retail Practice with additional subjects: payroll, and book keeping.

This is a fulltime course scheduled to commence in September 2017. Aimed at people in receipt of a social welfare payment between the ages of 18 and 35. Youth Club

Parents are still strongly encouraged to get Garda vetted before the Youth club resumes so that we may continue to provide a meeting place for the young people of the parish and surrounding areas. Garda vetting application forms can be obtained by sending your email address to 087 2319219.

Bree CEP Vacancies

Bree CEP Project is currently recruiting for the following vacancies:

Please contact your local DSP Employment Services/Intreo Office to check your eligibility and to apply for a vacancy quoting the relevant reference number. Eligibility to participate on CE is generally linked to those who are 21 years or over.

Applicants must also be in receipt of an Irish social welfare payment for one year or more. Garda Vetting will also be required for positions dealing with children, the elderly or vulnerable people.

Bree Choir

The choir in Bree Church has resumed on Sunday last. New people are encouraged to join for Sunday mornings and for Christmas and Easter. You will be very welcome.

Celtic Roots

The last night of the Full Irish show, in association with Celtic Roots, in Bree Hall was Tuesday last. The group would to thank everyone for their wonderful support throughout the summer season.

Community Centre

Organisations using or intending to use Bree Community Centre for the resumption of activities in September are asked to contact Eddie Dunne to confirm, book regular meetings, classes and events. This is to ensure that there are no overlaps or confusion around bookings.

Barn dance

The annual barn dance took place on Saturday, August 26, in Byrne's Grain Store. The proceeds this year went to the community centre for general upkeep and maintenance. A great night was had by all. Many thanks to all who supported in any way.

Recycle Units

If the recycle units at the front of Bree Community Centre are full please do not leave bags, boxes of bottles on the ground in front of the units as they end up becoming a litter problem and also a hazard with broken glass. Please do not bring household refuse or any other type of rubbish up to the units as it will not be taken away.

The summer holidays are over and its back to school for children from the parish. We wish them all the best for the coming year, to those returning and those who are starting out on their journey. 28 young children have begun in Junior Infants - 11 boys and 17 girls, namely

Death

The death occured at Lawson House nursing home on Thursday of last week of Mrs Lily O'Leary (née Dillon) Cloughbawn, Clonroche, and formerly of Tykillen, Crossabeg.

Pre-deceased by her husband George, son Pat, brothers Jimmy and Johnny and sister Sr. Patricia, she is survived by her son Tony and family (Tykillen) daughter Marie and family (England) her sister Sr. Camillus, relatives and friends to whom we extend our deepest sympathy.

Her remains reposed at Brownes funeral home in Enniscorthy on Friday last with removal to Cloughbawn church at 7.30 p.m. Funeral Mass took place on Saturday morning at 11 a.m with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. RIP. Coffee morning.

The Hospice coffee morning will be held in Kyle Forge on Thursday, September 14, from 10 a.m till 1 p.m. Please support this worthwhile cause.

Youth Club AGM

Crossabeg Youth Club will hold their annual general meeting in Kyle Forge on Thursday, September 7, at 8 p.m. It is important that parents attend and provide input for the ongoing success of the club. Registration of members, new and returning will take place at the meeting. The cost is €10.

Athletics

Now that the children are back in school, its time to get back to athletic training. Juvenile training has commenced again and is held every Monday and Thursday evening from seven to 8.15 p.m at the community field in Crossabeg. New members are most welcome.

Over the Water

Fundraiser night
Tickets are now on sale for 'Our Fight for Darren' Dance night which takes place on Sunday, September 24, in Whites Hotel Wexford, music by Joe Davitt country band and Heartbeats and the Moynihans. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Door prizes on the night include a first prize of a B&B evening meal at the Amber Springs hotel, Gorey, with lots more prizes guaranteed.

There will also be a dance competition with prizes on the night. Tickets cost €15 and are available from Whites hotel, Leisure Max or contact Paraic O'Leary at 087 7165464 or Katie Lacey at 087 1853861. A great night of dancing will be guaranteed.

Fit-Nutz

The Fit-Nutz 'walk, jog, run' group meet in Hollymount on Tuesday and Fridays evenings from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Whatever your goal, they can help you achieve it through regular sessions, personal plans and nutrition advice.

Yard sales

Yard sales take place at Screen school on Sunday, September 10, from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m to help raise funds for a new sensory room.

Tea and cake, books, toys and household stalls, raffle for trailer of fuel and fun for all. Any donations of baking would be gratefully collected on Saturday at 2 p.m or can be delivered on Sunday morning to the school.
