Get Well Wishes
Our best wishes goes to Brigid Foran, La Rochelle, Rosslare Harbour for a speedy recovery after her very serious accident last week. Brigid is a patient in St Vincent's Hospital, Dublin after been transferred there from Wexford General.
The community offer sincere sympathy to Fr David Murphy on the sad death of his mother Sadie (née Ffrench) Johnstown, Duncormick, who passed away on August 21 Sadie's Funeral Mass was celebrated in the Church of the Assumption, Rathdangan and she was laid to rest in Leighlinbridge cemetery.
Condolences also to Susan Barron and family, Ard an Mara, Rosslare Hbr, on the death of her father Jimmy, Coolree, Wexford, who died on August 26 Funeral Mass for Jimmy was said in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Rowe St, followed by Cremation in Dublin.
Sympathy also to Billy Greenan and family, Rosslare Hbr on the passing of his brother Hughie, Sheepwalk, Drinagh, who died following a short illness on August 31 Hughie's funeral Mass was celebrated in St Martin's Church, Piercestown. Burial afterwards in Piercestown cemetery.
Mary Kennedy (retired music teacher) Wilton, Cork and late of La Rochelle, Rosslare Hbr passed away at Care Choice, Montenotte on August 10 Mary's funeral Mass was celebrated in St Joseph's SMA Church, Wilton. We extend sympathy to her family and friends. Mary was pre-deceased by her sister Anne.
Our neighbouring parish, Tagoat loss their much loved parish priest, Fr Matthias Glynn. Fr Glynn had been in failing health for some time and passed away at Knockeen Nursing Home. We extend sympathy to his brother Jarlath, sister Honor sisters-in-law Louisa and Susan and extended family.
May they Rest In Peace.
Walking Trails Festival
This year's festival will begin in Rosslare Harbour on Friday, September 29, at 5.15 p.m. with a tour led by John Boyce and Micheál Delaney. The tour will include a visit to Rosslare Harbour lifeboat 'Donald and Barbara Broadhead'
This will be followed at 7.15 p.m. by a reception and festival launch at the Rosslare Harbour Maritime Heritage Centre, where you are welcome to join us for refreshments and a brief history of the centre.
Viscount 50th Anniversary
The 50th anniversary of the Aer Lingus Viscount Disaster off Tuskar Rock will be marked next year on Saturday, March 24, 2018.
Rosslare Harbour was the focus of the recovery operation and we anticipate that the local community will want to mark this occasion in some form or other.
A public meeting has been called for Thursday, September 14, at 8 p.m. in Hotel Rosslare to discuss the level of interest that may exist in remembering this occasion back in 1968.
ICA guild news
The monthly meeting of Kilrane-Rosslare Harbour ICA took place on Wednesday, September 6. Ms Kay Creane welcomed the members back after the summer break and had a special welcome for the new members. It was noted that the summer outing to Tintern Abbey was a huge success.
Planned Activities - A discussion took place regarding the following activities which are planned between now and the end of the year, participation in the annual charity walk organised by the Co. Wexford ICA Federation in Johnstown Castle, on October 1. Outings to a show in Dublin, visit to Dail Eireann, a walk in Enniscorthy on Monday, September 18. Coffee morning for Hospice Homecare - The ICA in conjunction with the Active Retirement Association are participating in the Hospice Homecare coffee morning which will be held nationally on Thursday, September 14. This event will be held in Hotel Rosslare commencing at 10.30 a.m. And all are invited to attend and support this worthy cause.
Journey into the Unknown - Mr Jim Campbell Journalist and Photographer attended the meeting and gave a very interesting talk and photographic display on his recent visit to Syria and Iraq. The president Ms Kay Creane thanked Jim for attending.
Date of next meeting - The next meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 4, in the Community Center Kilrane. New members are welcome.
St Paul's AC
We would like to thank Roche Freight for their continued support as our sponsor for our annual five Mile Road Race which took place last Sunday morning, September 3. St Paul's had two teams competing both finishing in first place - The ladies consisted of Denise Doyle, Assumpta Carthy and Yvonne Clooney, who also picked up first O'40 lady. The men's team was Johnny Kelly, Joe Ferris and Sammy Delaney, Sammy also got first Junior Athlete home. Full results on our Facebook page.
Eamonn Owens, on behalf of St Paul's, accepted a cheque for €1,650 from Niall McDonald on Friday night. The money was raised by a group organised by Niall that cycled from Ballygawley in Tyrone to Rosslare Harbour earlier in the summer. Well done and a huge thank you to all who took part and a special thank you to Leo Coy, who was St Paul's representative on the trip.
Training has resumed on Monday and Wednesday in Kilrane from 5.30 p.m. to 6.15 p.m. for all our under-10s and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for all older athletes. Senior training times will be confirmed later this week, keep an eye on our Facebook page. All new members welcome.
Our three act festival director; Breda Hayes has announced her play for next year's circuit. 'The Night Alive' by Conor McPherson is the chosen play and the cast is as follows: Chris Maddock as Tommy, Seán Carthy as Doc, Colm Doyle as Kenneth, Con Doyle as Maurice and Trish Boyce as Aimee.
We are really looking forward to bringing this fantastic play to our wonderful audiences. Final castings have been selected for the one-act plays which will be staged during the Wexford Opera Festival in October. More details to follow.

St Mary's GAA would like to thank all who supported the recent race night in Culletons Pub; the sponsors of the races, the companies and individuals who donated prizes for the raffle and everyone that purchased a horse in the races. We would also like to thank Derbhla and all the Culleton's staff for allowing us to host this event in Culleton's Pub.
On the night, we unfortunately couldn't run all the races due to a technical problem also we were under pressure for time as the band was waiting to start directly after the race night. We had five winners on the night and had to draw winners from a hat of the remaining races.

work has commenced on a new disabled access toilet. This disabled access toilet is totally financed by a private donation which the centre was very happy to receive over the summer. The disabled access toilet will be as per Wexford County Council's specifications and a great asset to the centre for the years to come.
Also we are currently moving the Boxing Club upstairs to facilitate works on the stage area which will hopefully commence in October. This will create a lovely downstairs rentable room for all our clubs and associations.
All these works are the for betterment of the centre and we apologise in advance if this causes any inconvenience to any of the clubs or associations.

Happy Birthday. Yes, would you believe it we are one year old and to celebrate we are going to do two things. This Friday, September 15, the pot will be a guaranteed €300 and on Saturday the 16th at 11 a.m., in the Rosslare car park, we will have a big Birthday Cake so please come along to help blow out the Candle. A Big Thank You to all who have played, to all our outlets and to all the committee, who work so hard to bring this great game and fundraiser to Rosslare.

Rosslare Tidy Towns
We are very happy to report that we have now received our Invitations to the National Tidy Towns Awards Ceremony due to take place on September 25 at the Helix. We look forward to this Ceremony also we wish our fellow Tidy Towns Volunteers throughout Wexford All the Very Best and we look forward to meeting up with you on that day.
Meanwhile we continue our work to ensure that the Village looks its best, litter and weeds never seem to take a holiday and so it is the same with the TT Volunteers, Please feel free to join us or support us whatever way suits you best, our efforts are for the Village.
