Bereavement

Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Philomena Sinnott Haggardstown Killinick and late of Kellystown Adamstown. Philomena sadly died during the recent past and her remains were laid to rest in St Fintan's cemetery in Taghmon following her funeral Mass. May she rest in peace.

A Young Star

Aoibheann Rankin the 11-year-old daughter of Trevor and Linda got a dream call up to the Aviva 'Soccer Sisters'from agroup of around four thousand soccer stars and was invited to the FAI training centre in Abbotstown Dublin to take part in training with the Republic O f Ireland senior team. Aoibheann, who attendsschool in Mayglass national school began playing the game with the local school boys' team before moving on to play with the local girls' team of the All Blacks AFC in Mayglass. We wish her the best of good luck in this very exciting venture.

St Fintan's

The St Fintan's intermediate teams participation in this year's Amber Springs/Ashdowne park hotels championship came to an end at the quarter final stage at the hands of Kilanerin in a game played at St Patrick's park Enniscorthy. The men from Ballymore-Mayglass started brightly and took a 0-03 to 0-02 lead after which scores were hard to come by and it was in the latter stages of the half that Kilanerin took control setting up a 0-08 to 0-04 scoreline in its favour. The second half started in a similiar fashion with Kilanerin scoring a goal from a penalty shortly after the restart and their next score was to take afurther 20 minutes and during this time St Fintan's closed the gap with Cathal O'Brien setting up an exciting finish when he finished the ball to the net but alas it was not to be with Kilanerin taking the spoils on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-07.

Ladies' Football

During the recent past the under-16 ladies of St Fintan's took to the field in Taghmon in the div3 shield final against Naomh Eanna, the girls started strongly picking off some lovely points with the backline also doing sterling work, St Fintan's went into the break leading six points to two points.

The Gorey girls came out fighting at the start of the second half scoring an early goal but the St Fintan's girls continued to play well scoring a number of points and hitting the woodwork while trying to score that elusive goal with six minutes remaining St Fintan's were ahead by one point but just before the final whistle Naomh Eanna scored another goal putting them two points ahead.

As hard as the girls faught they were unable to claw back their opponents which left the final score St Fintan's 0-10 Naomh Eanna 3-2.
