Ballymore-Mayglass

GAA lotto

The St Fintan's GAA lotto now stands at €5,400 and tickets can be purchased from local shops and the club grounds on Tuesday evenings from 8 p.m. And from club members at a cost of €1.50. There is also a match-three prize of €200 up for grabs each week and P.Jones shared in this prize. Last week's numbers were 6, 7, 16 and 18. Many thanks for your continued support.

Charity Hunt canter

Killinick Harriers are having a charity hunt canter on Sunday, October 8, starting at 9.30 a.m. at Ballycogley hall. Last horses at 1 p.m. All jumps will be optional.

Tomhaggard Centre

Work has started on a few projects at Tomhaggard Social Centre. The roof has been repaired, hardcore surface on access to rear of building being done next week and plans have been drawn up for new kitchen. This work has been made possible by the generous support of the community at our fundraising events and Amenity Grant.

Wood donated by Karen and Mick Doyle Markand Garden Sheds has been chopped up for Kindling by Venture Scouts and is on sale at the Social Centre Mon 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wed 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. And Sat 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., only €2 per bag.

Scouts

It's all go in each section at the moment with 75 youth members. Upcoming county events: September 30 Ventures Airsoft; October 7 Forum; October 8 Scout Forum, Tacumshane; October 13 Cub table quiz, October 15 Beaver Emergencies Day Piercestown.

Knitting/Stitching Show

Michael English

Following his very successful cabaret last year, the community of Mulrankin are delighted to announce that Michael English and his band will be returning to Clayton Whites hotel this year on Thursday, November 30, in concert with special guest Brendan Shine. Tickets cost €22.50 and it promises to be another great night if last year is anything to go by.

We're very lucky to be part of Michaels concert tour this year, he's starting in the Olympia on October 11 and finishing with us in Wexford on November 30, all his concert tour dates will be advertised nationwide in the national papers and also through his own website so demand is going to be high.

Margo Finn, Ballymore was joined by a large number of her lady friends for a get together in her home to celebrate a very special birthday. Happy birthday Margo from us all.

Rumour has it that 'Buddy'would prefer potatoes to be sown in a drier field. A presentation of footballs will be made to all under-eight players of St Fintan's on Tuesday evening at 6.30 p.m. in the club grounds and parents are invited to come along. Fundraising plan sare ungoing in the St Fintan's GAA Club with further development at the club grounds in mind.

Scramble With A Twist

A scramble with a twist in aid of the Ballycogley hall renovation fund will be held on the Burrow golf course Rosslare on Saturday, October 7, and Sunday, October 8. A team of four (any combination). Its €50 per team, one tenth of the combined handicap and two drives per person.

The Twist:each player allowed to take three extra shots, one drive, one putt and one other of your choice. Play any day or both days with the same team or a different combination. For further information contact Paud at 086 1537640.

Vintage Tractor Run

On behalf of Fr Martin Byrne PP and the people of Ballymore-Mayglass parish we would like to say a very big thank you to the Bargy Vintage club and its members for organising their annual tractor run in aid of the day to day running of the parish.

In particular we would like to thank the following, Bolgers of Ballycogley for the use of their yard, Rotech, W & R Kelly, Pagannini, Paddy Hayes and fellow members that helped in any way with the water supply, portaloos, tables and chairs on loan from St Mary's daycare centre, John Fenlon, the registration team of Mary, Laura, Sandra and John.

To the Ballycogley hall committee for its help prior to and during the run, to all the dedicated local volunteers that did trojan work over the past months restoring the hall in preparation for the run.

For the catering we would like to thank Danby Lodge Killinick and the hard working committee who supplied all the sandwiches, confectionary and those who donated buns on the day.

A special word of thanks to the 155 tractor owners who came to support Bargy vintage club and the parish.A wonderful day was had by all.

Kilmore

Get Well Wishes

Belated get well wishes go out to the very well known and popular Mary White Tenacre, who had major surgery recently in the Mater Private Hospital in Dublin. This message comes from all her family, friends and neighbours who wish her a speedy coffee morning.

There will be a coffee morning in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare on Sunday, October 29, in the Stella Maris Community Centre Kilmore Quay from 10.30 a.m. till 1 p.m. We will also have a raffle on the day. Please support this worthy cause.

ARA news

bowls season is now getting under way with the first tournament taking place on Wednesday last. On Wednesday the 27th the Gulls take on Bree in a match in the SMC at 2 p.m. Spectators are welcome at these matches. On Wednesday, October 4, the Seals take on Oulart in the SMC at 2 p.m. On Monday the 16th there is an away match between Gulls and the Ballagh at 2 p.m. Wednesday the 25th Gulls versus Gorey B in the SMC at 2 p.m.

On Thursday, October 5, the monthly meeting will be held in Kilmore GAA at 7.30 p.m., which will be followed by a talk on 'Power of Attorney'. On Wednesday the 11th we have Coffee Afternoon and fun table quiz in Mary Barry's at 2.30 p.m.

Ten Pin Bowling will take place on Mondays at 10.30 a.m., and the annual Tournament for ARA members will be held in Leisuremax on Wednesday, October 18, details later.

Ten-Pin Bowling: Every Monday in Leisuremax at 10.30 a.m. And South East Region Tournament on Wednesday the 18th at 10.30 a.m.

Other events: Monday the 16th at Riverbank House Hotel, South East semi-final table quiz at 2 p.m. Monday the 23rd the South East Regional Meeting in Dooley's Hotel, Waterford at 11 a.m. followed by a fun table quiz final at 3 p.m.

Kilmore camogie club

Kilmore camogie club will host their annual autumn Clothes Collection on Saturday, October 7, in Kimore GAA complex. For all your unwanted items we will gladly dispose of them for you. We take clothes, shoes, coats, bags, belts, duvet covers, towels. For anyone that has no room to store these items we will also look after that for you please contact Marion Cousins or Lorraine Dillion or any committee member and we will take them off your hands.

Our under-12s played their County Final last Saturday morning in Ferns centre of excellence their opponents in the final were Gorey. The girls from the start played excellent and like any final it was competitive camogie. Kilmore made history by winning their first under-12 County title and truly deserved been county champions having not lost a game all year. Congratulations girls and to your mentors Paul, Ger and Lorna for all the hard work and training, Kilmore camogie club are very proud of ye. The future of camogie is looking good in our club.

Congratulations to Kilross Gaels under-16 team who played their shield quarter final this morning v Castletown. It was a cracker of a game, the girls were just brilliant, best game all year. Kilross gaels 5-4 Castletown 3-5. Well done girls and mentors both clubs are very proud of ye all. semi-final to look forward to now.

Our under-eights finished up for the season tonight and I'd just like to say thanks to all the under-eights for their commitment to camogie (the best game in the world), its been such an enjoyable season and the girls have been a pleasure to coach. Thanks to Fiona (Ms Morrissey) for all her help and to Brian and Padge also. Don't let the cobwebs grow on your hurls, keep practising and hurling 365 probably starting soon in school.

After nearly 20 years on the road the Kilmore United ladies' team are struggling to field a team week in/week out due to lack of numbers.
