Blackwater

Tidy Towns

The annual general meeting of Blackwater Tidy Towns will be held in Lever's. Lounge on Wednesday, November 22, at 7 p.m. This is an open meeting and all interested new members are welcome to attend.

DISCO

The next teenage disco run by Blackwater camogie club will take place on Friday, November 17, from 8.30 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Blackwater Parish Hall. Entry €5. This is a fully supervised event and strictly no alcohol. Please spread the word.

Camogie club 20th

Blackwater camogie club are celebrating their 20-year anniversary of winning their first ever adult title. This game was played in Oylegate in 1997 against a tough Bunclody side. The club is inviting past and present players, supporters, mentors and all those who have helped with our club since its formation in 1994 to attend a night of nostalgia with music in Corrigans pub on Friday, November 24, at 9 p.m. Please come and celebrate with us.

Wool pool

We are setting up a wool pool on November 26 at the community craft day in the Blackwater Lodge. Crafters in our local knitting club 'Cois Abhainn Crafts' make hats for premature and newborn babies. If you have any balls of double knit wool in bright colours bring them along to our craft day on Sunday the 26th between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. See you there.

Christmas Shopping Bus

Get all your shopping done under one roof in one day, beat the December crowds and leave the car at home. On Saturday, December 2, there is a bus leaving Blackwater and Oulart and going straight to Blanchardstown shopping centre. Leaving Blackwater at 8 a.m. Leaving Oulart at 8.20 a.m. We will arrive at 10 a.m. approximately and leave at 5 p.m. leaving loads of time to get your bits and pieces done. Cost of the bus is only €20 per person €10 deposit per person required to avoid disappointment. For all details contact David at 087 9562978.

Active Retirement

The next group get-together is on November 13 at 4 p.m. at Levers Bar (Whelans) when there will be a talk and advice given on Power of Attorney. The talk will be given by Mr Cormac Mullen.

The annual general meeting is scheduled for November 27 (more details to follow).

Christmas Market

Coláiste an Átha will host their annual Christmas Market on Friday, November 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A wide array of crafts, gifts, games and food will be available on the evening.

Help us get into the festive spirit and support our TY and LCA students. There are still a number of stalls available for local vendors. Please contact the school if interested.

Bree-Galbally

Bree Youth Club

Following the EGM of Bree Youth Club on November 7, a new committee has been elected for the remainder of the year. Youth Club will continue as normal on November 17.

Bree Parish Journal

Preparations for Bree Parish Journal are under way for this year's edition due for publication before Christmas.

All clubs and organisations in the parish are asked to have a report of their activities over the past two years as soon as possible. All items, including advertisements, to be advised to Jim and Clare Doyle, Garranstackle 053 9247706 or email jamcsdoyle@eircom.net.

Active Retirement

The next social of Bree ARI will be held on Wednesday, November 15, in Bree Community Centre from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with the usual bingo, tea and chat. The raffle cards are to be returned at this meeting.

The Christmas party has been organised for December 20 in the Riverside Hotel. Anybody, who would like more information please contact 086 0747823.

CD Release

Leslie Dunne will launch his new Solo Album ''How Great Thou Art' with a concert on November 26 in the Church of the Assumption, Bree. The concert will start at 2.30 p.m. and Leslie will be joined by guest artists.

Chess and Draughts

Bree-Davidstown Community Games Chess and Draughts are back in session on Tuesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. in Bree Hall. All children from eight years to 16 years are welcome. Cost is €2 per child to a maximum of €4 per family.

Bree AC News

Indoor Training takes place in Bree Hall on Thursday nights and outdoor training takes place on Monday and Wednesday evening, all starting at 7 p.m.

Pioneer News

Any pioneers in the parish, who are due gold or silver pins please contact Eddie Dunne by November as soon as possible. Pins will be presented in Bree Church at Mass on Saturday, December 9.

The Pioneer Social Dinner is on November 24 in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy. Further information from Eddie Dunne.

Oulart

Senior citizens

Oulart senior citizens committee will hold a church gate collection on the weekend November 18/19. The annual senior citizens Party will take place in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday, January 14. Please inform any committee member (Seán Byrne, Eddie O'Grady etc) if you know any newcomers to the area who should receive an invitation to the party.

Oulart ICA Oulart ICA guild holds its monthly meeting on the third Monday of the month. The November meeting takes place on Monday the 20th at 8 p.m. in Oulart Hill Lounge. Why not come along to this meeting of interesting and innovative women and sample what happens at an ICA meeting? Women of all ages and any area are welcome to join and make lasting friends as well as getting involved in ICA activities such as organised outings, bowling, crafts and lots of fun activities.

Vintage Road Run

A Vintage Tractor/Car Road Run will take place on the first Sunday in December, starting at Oulart Community Centre at midday. This event is being run in aid of Oulart Community Centre.

Minor Hurling

Oulart-The Ballagh minor hurlers will contest the Roinn one Shield Final against Hollow Rovers, on Saturday, November 18, in St Patrick's Park, at 11.30 a.m. The panel of players and management are wished the best of luck.

Split-the-pot

The latest winner of Scoil Mochua's split-the-pot was Helen Ryan, who won €147. The next draw will be held on Monday, November 20. Entry envelopes are available from local businesses.

Hallowe'en Hike

Scoil Mochua raised €780 from the Hallowe'en Hike. Thanks to all who contributed. This money will be used towards the replenishment of PE equipment and the day-to-day running of the school. Míle Buíochas to the parents' association for their help and to those who helped supervise the walk and provided refreshments.

Calendar Launch

The launch of the 2018 Scoil Mochua Calendar will take place in the school on Friday, November 17, at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend the launch and partake of the light refreshments.

Cookery Demonstration

In conjunction with the club sponsor - Corrigan's Spar and Family Butchers and Super Chips - well - known chef and food writer, Edward Hayden will give a cookery demonstration in the Riverside Hotel, Enniscorthy at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28. Alongside Edward's cooking delights, there will be a variety of stalls showcasing their products. It promises to be a great night's entertainment. Tickets cost €15 each or two for €25 and will be available from camogie club members and the club committee.

Scór na nÓg

The semi-final of Scór na nÓg (under-17 Talent competition) will be held in Inch Hall on Saturday, November 18. Contact Breda Jacob if you are interested in taking part in any Scór event.

Thank You

The organisers of the recent church gate collection in aid of the Wexford Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland would like to thank everyone who contributed so generously to the collection in Oulart which yielded €304.44. Thanks to the collectors for their help also. Every cent collected will remain in the Wexford Branch to be used for the benefit of all Down Syndrome children and adults.

Rosary on the Coast

Co. Wexford Catholic Family Network will host the Rosary on the Coast on Sunday, November 26, at 2.30 p.m. on Morriscastle Strand. The initiative is taking place all over Ireland on the day and is being held for the Protection of Life and the Eight Amendment and for the protection and renewal of the Faith in Ireland.

Camogie Successes

Congratulations to the under-16 camogie team and management on winning the Premier Shield Final against Cloughbawn on November 5. It was a hard-fought, close encounter with the final score being nine points to one goal five points. The under-18 camogie team had a five point win over Rathnure on November 3 and now await news of their opponents in the semi-final.

Coaching

Oulart-The Ballagh Coiste na nÓg and the camogie club are delighted to announce that renowned coach, Paudie Butler, will deliver a coaching presentation and workshop in Oulart on November 24 and 25. Paudie, who is a former National Director of Hurling and master tutor with the GAA, is well known for his abilities to inspire players of all levels to improve their skills and how they play the game and to inspire and tutor coaches to work effectively with their teams.

On Friday, November 24, parents and mentors/coaches of all underage groups (under-sixes to under-18s) are invited to attend the coaching presentation in Oulart Community Centre at 7.30 p.m. This is a great opportunity and everyone is encouraged to come along. Refreshments will be served afterwards. On Saturday, November 25, Paudie will host a two-hour coaching workshop for all underage mentors/coaches from 10 a.m. to midday. A number of players from the under-10 to under-18 age groups will also be asked to take part in the workshop to assist with the demonstration of coaching techniques.

Coláiste an Átha, Kilmuckridge, will hold its Enrolment Evening for students entering first year in September 2018 on Tuesday, November 21, from 4.30 p.m. Enrolment Time for Ballaghkeene, Oulart, Ballygarrett and Monamolin National Schools is from 5.15 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

The child must attend with the parent/guardian. However, should these times not suit please attend at your convenience. If you cannot make the Enrolment Night please contact the school for an alternative appointment.

The Ballagh

Thank You

The Wexford Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland would like to thank everyone who gave so generously to their recent church gate collection at St John the Baptist Church, The Ballagh. The amount collected and banked was €305.95.

Thanks also to the collectors for their time and help. Every cent collected locally will remain in the Wexford branch to be used for the benefit of Down Syndrome children and adults.

Book Fair

The book fair will take place in the Ballagh school on November 21, 22 and 23. Pupils will have an opportunity to look at the books during school on Friday, November 17, and a brochure will be sent home with every child. The book fair will be open to pupils on Tuesday, November 21, and Thursday, November 23, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The book fair will also be open for parents and pupils on Wednesday, November 22, from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the school calendar (2018) will also be launched on this evening.

The school calendar will be a fantastic keepsake for the years ahead as well as being an excellent Christmas gift for family and friends. Prices are €8 for one, €15 for two and €20 for three calendars. Tea and coffee will be served and all are welcome to attend.
