Pioneer News

The Pioneer Social Dinner is on this Friday night, November 24, in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy. Further information from Eddie Dunne.

Any pioneers in the parish, who are due gold or silver pins please contact Eddie Dunne as soon as possible. Pins will be presented in Bree Church at Mass on Saturday, December 9.

Sacred Heart Calendars costing €2.50 each and Pioneer Christmas Cards costing €3 for a pack of five are now available to buy from Eddie Dunne.

Leslie Dunne CD Release

Leslie Dunne will launch his new Solo Album ''How Great Thou Art' with a concert on Sunday next, November 26, in the Church of the Assumption, Bree. The concert will start at 2.30 p.m. and Leslie will be joined by guest artists.

GAA club AGM

The AGM of Ballyhogue GAA Club takes place on Friday, November 24, at 8 p.m. in Bree Hall. Please submit nominations for Team Managers and Officers positions before Friday, November 17, at 9 p.m.

Bree Parish Journal

Preparations for Bree Parish Journal are under way for this year's edition due for publication before Christmas. All clubs and organisations in the parish are asked to have a report of their activities over the past two years as soon as possible. All items, including advertisements, 50th wedding anniversaries, weddings, etc during the past two years to be advised to Jim and Clare Doyle, Garranstackle 053 9247706 or email jamcsdoyle@eircom.net.

Bree AC News

Bree AC was represented at the Leinster Cross Country on Sunday, November 12, in Adamstown. Although the club would not be known as a cross country club in recent times, our current crop of young athletes are proving to be multi-talented.

Katie Doyle finished 40th of 150 runners in the under-11 Leinster Championship, a great performance by Katie. In the under-nine section hosted by Adamstown AC, Jayden Kenny was third in the Boys Race and Lea Bolger was seventh in the Girls Race. Congratulations to all three athletes.

The Bree AC AGM takes place on Thursday, November 30, in Bree Hall followed by the presentation of our annual Awards. Light refreshments will be served. All athletes and their parents are welcome to attend. There will be no Indoor Training on that night.

Community Games

Many thanks to all who supported the church gate collection in aid of Bree-Davidstown Community Games last recently. A total of €822 was collected between the three parishes. This money will go to our annual registration and pay entry fees to all competitions in the county. It will also subsidize entry fees for our young people and their managers who may qualify for national finals in 2018.

Chess and Draughts classes in Bree Hall continue each Tuesday night for eight- to 16-year-olds from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. All young people from the parishes of Bree, Davidstown and Cloughbawn are welcome to come along.

Rackard League Win

Congratulations to the girls' team from Bree, Galbally and Ballyhogue National Schools and their mentors Annette Ormond and Colm Moore on their great win against Kilrush on Wednesday evening last in the B Final of the Rackard League. The team won 0.9 to 0.0.

Wexford and Clonard Parishes: Invite you to Taize Prayer in Clonard Day Chapel December 10 at 7 p.m. Taize is a form of mediation through music, readings and silence. Please join us for our opening night.

Clonard Hospitality Ministers: Meeting on Monday, November 27, at 7.30 p.m. in the boardroom.

Walk and Pray 5K: Take some time out in your week for some prayer and exercise. All you need is a pair of runners, high viz, and a pep in your step. Meeting in Clonard Church every Wednesday at 7 p.m. We will pray the Rosary as we walk, and also take some time to chat and take in the lovely views in Wexford. All ages and abilities welcome.

November Pious List: Please remember to return your November Pious List of the dead, so that all your departed loved ones will be remembered at our Masses during November. Spare lists can be found in all porches of the church.

Ladies' GAA

Clonard Volunteer Ladies will hold our AGM on Monday, November 27, at 8 p.m., we would encourage all members and parents to attend and help our club improve in 2018 for another successful busy year. Anyone interested in becoming a coach or committee member please come along on the night for a chat. Due to the increase in members and teams we are always appreciate and looking for more much needed help.

COISTE NA NÓG

The Minor Hurling Shield final played last Saturday in Ferns marked the end of an era in GAA in our club and in a national context. With the exception of one, all clubmen on the panel, lined out in their last ever minor game on as 2018 will see the introduction of the new minor age restructuring from under-18 to under-17. Unfortunately they lost out to a strong Oylegate-Glenbrien team but we wish our chaps all the best going forward into new territory as adult players in 2018 and look forward to the great contribution they will continue to give to our club. Thanks also to PJ, Noel, Toirleach, Larry and all who have given great time to these boys over the last number of years.

SCÓR NA NÓG

KICKBOXING SUCCESS

Congratulations to Mark Rowe, Rowestown, Barntown, on winning Gold and becoming World Champion in the Men's Veteran section of the WKC World Kickboxing Championship in Orlando last week.

Also to Rebecca Rowe, who took a bronze medal in the Chinese Soft Style sets. Both Train and Coach at Wexford Kung Fu and Kickboxing Centre with Chief Instructor Bobby O'Neill. Well done to his teammates who also brought home medals.

A WORD OF THANKS

The organisers of the recent Community Games table quiz (in the Sycamore House) would like to thank everyone who turned up to support us on the night, to all those who donated a prize and to Declan and Mary for hosting the event. The evening was a great success and €800 was raised for the running of the local Community Games. Thank you all so much.

TABLE QUIZ

A table quiz in aid of the Samaritans will take place in Mary Jo's Pub, Larkin's Cross on December 2 at 9 p.m. A table of four is just €20. Your support would be much appreciated.
