Glenbrien

Christmas Shoe box

If you wish to make up a shoe box collection for the homeless people of Co Wexford, items can include toiletries, socks, gloves, hats, scarves, travel mug, thermal items, ,torch, sweets, rain poncho and a Christmas card. Please label the box for adult Male or Female.

Collection will take place on Saturday, December 2, in the Old School centre from 10 a.m. to midday. for more information please contact Fiona at 087 7076496.

Glenbrien Parish has its own Facebook page. nd its members are growing by the day. This is a Notice Board for all events and inforrmation regarding all the community we look forward to having lots of likes in the next few weeks and will be posting on it regularly.

GAA lotto

Results of lotto held November 15: numbers were 15, 21, 25 and 26 bonus 20. Lucky-dip winners were Caroline Whelan, Doran Family C/O Anne, John/Diane Reck, Connie Shanahan, Eunan Sludds, Miley Cullen, Tomas O'Mahoney, Simon Lambert. Next draw is November 29 in Mernaghs, tickets available locally.

Male Voice Choir

Next Friday night the Wexford Male Voice Choir will join the children from the National school in a concert in the church This will be a lovely evening here in the parish. Tickets are €10 and there are only a limited number available now. If you would like a ticket please contact the members of the parish committee or message the Facebook page and we will contact you thanks this will be a lovely entertaining evening not to be missed.

AA meeting

The AA Glenbrien meet in the Holy Family school in Glenbrien every Saturday night at 7.30. If you would like to come along and join us please contact 086 8259150 for more information thank you.

Community Text Alert

Glenbrien Community Text Alert are holding two collection evenings to gather the subscriptions for the coming year. These will be held on Thursday, November 30, and Monday, December 4, from 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. in the Old School Centre. The subscription for 2018 is €5 per phone. Your annual subscription is essential to the continued successful operation of Text Alert in the community so please spread the word to your neighbours and friends. Please note that new members will be required to pay €20.

Camogie Club news

The AGM will take place on Saturday, December 2, at 7.30 p.m. in Oylegate Community Centre. All players and parents of underage players are encouraged to attend.

Club Gear for sale - The camogie club has a limited amount of half zips available, skorts and training tops. They would make ideal Christmas presents. Please contact Margaret O'Connor or Christine Martin for more information.

Oulart

Christmas Raffle

The usual parish raffle will be held before Christmas and the printing of tickets will take place shortly. Anyone, who would like to donate a prize for the raffle is asked to contact Fr Browne no later than November 24/25.

Senior citizens

The annual senior citizens Party will take place in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday, January 14. Please inform any committee member (Seán Byrne, Eddie O'Grady etc) if you know any newcomers to the area who should receive an invitation to the party.

Vintage Road Run

A Vintage Tractor/Car Road Run will take place on the first Sunday in December, starting at Oulart Community Centre at midday. This event is being run in aid of Oulart Community Centre.

Split-the-pot

The latest winner of Scoil Mochua's split-the-pot was TJ Redmond, who won €141. The next draw will be held on Monday, November 27. Entry envelopes are available from local businesses. Thank you for your continued support.

School Calendar

The Scoil Mochua 2018 Calendar is available to purchase from the school, Corrigan's Spar and Oulart post office. The calendar would be a lovely Christmas gift and a nice keepsake for years to come. The price is eight euro for one, €15 for two calendars and €20 for three.

GAA club AGM

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA will hold its AGM on Friday, January 12. The Coiste na nÓg end-of-year meeting will be held on December 15.

Camogie Fundraiser

In conjunction with the club sponsor Corrigan's Spar and Family Butchers and Super Chips, well - known chef and food writer, Edward Hayden will give a cookery demonstration in the Riverside Hotel, Enniscorthy at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28.

Alongside Edward's cooking delights, there will be a variety of stalls showcasing their products. It promises to be a great night's entertainment. Tickets cost €15 each or two for €25 and will be available from camogie club members and the club committee.

Rosary on the Coast

Co. Wexford Catholic Family Network will host the Rosary on the Coast on Sunday, November 26, at 2.30 p.m. on Morriscastle Strand. The initiative is taking place all over Ireland on the day and is being held for the Protection of Life and the Eight Amendment and for the protection and renewal of the Faith in Ireland.

Coaching

Oulart-The Ballagh Coiste na nÓg and the camogie club are delighted to announce that renowned coach, Paudie Butler, will deliver a coaching presentation and workshop in Oulart on November 24 and 25.

Paudie, who is a former National Director of Hurling and master tutor with the GAA, is well known for his abilities to inspire players of all levels to improve their skills and how they play the game and to inspire and tutor coaches to work effectively with their teams.

On Friday, November 24, parents and mentors/coaches of all underage groups (under-sixes to under-18s) are invited to attend the coaching presentation in Oulart Community Centre at 7.30 p.m. This is a great opportunity and everyone is encouraged to come along. Refreshments will be served afterwards.

On Saturday, November 25, Paudie will host a two-hour coaching workshop for all underage mentors/coaches from 10 a.m. to midday. A number of players from the under-10 to under-18 age groups will also be asked to take part in the workshop to assist with the demonstration of coaching techniques.

Wexford Male Voice choir

On Friday, November 24, there will be a concert in Glenbrien church with the Wexford Male Voice Choir and the children of Holy Family N. S. taking part, this concert is a fundraiser for the parish funds. Tickets at €10 each.

Bingo Fund Raiser

Bingo will be held in Mernagh's lounge every Thursday. All proceeds from the raffle will go to Oylegate Youth Club. Please support.

Please note Mass times in Oylegate: Saturday vigil Mass is at 6.30 p.m.; Sunday morning Mass is at 10.30 a.m.

The Ballagh

Book Fair/School Calendar

The book fair will take place in the Ballagh school on November 21, 22 and 23. Pupils will have an opportunity to look at the books during school on Friday, November 17, and a brochure will be sent home with every child. The book fair will be open to pupils on Tuesday, November 21, and Thursday, November 23, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The book fair will also be open for parents and pupils on Wednesday, November 22, from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the school calendar (2018) will also be launched on this evening.

The school calendar will be a fantastic keepsake for the years ahead as well as being an excellent Christmas gift for family and friends. Prices are €8 for one, €15 for two and €20 for three calendars. Tea and coffee will be served and all are welcome to attend.
