Adamstown: Fellowship Award For Padraic - Local actor Páuraic Delaney has been presented with the Dan O'Herlihy Fellowship, from Wexford Film Society, The Picture House.
The presentation was made on the opening night of the Picture House 2019/20 season in the Art Centre, Wexford. Former recipients of the Fellowship have included Billy Roche and John Banville for their screening work. Declan Lowney, director, John Paul Kelly and Ann Rackard for their production design.
Páuraic got his big break as Teddy O'Donovan, alongside Cillian Murphy and Liam Cunningham in Ken Loach's film 'The Wind That Shakes the Barley'. Other films that he has starred in are: The Man Who Knew Infinity; alongside Jermy Irons and Blackthorn, a western in which he played a young Sundance Kid starring Sam Shepherd. He also featured in major television productions such as Tudors, Raw and recently completed two seasons of Kingfall for the History Channel.
Speaking to the Picture House chairman, Stephen Eustace after the presentation, Páuraic said he is currently involved in a movie called Seacole, which was shot in Malta, Romania and London. It tells the story of a Jamaican nurse, Mary Seacole, who cared for wounded British soldiers during the Crimean War. Páuraic plays the part of an Irish reporter with the Times, William Russell, who was considered to have been one of the first modern day war correspondents.
The first Fellowship recipient Billy Roche was in attendance on the night and Páuraic said he would love to get a role in one of his plays. He thanked the Picture House for honouring him with the Fellowship; it is always very special to get recognition from your own hometown. Congratulations and well done Páuraic and continued success from all in Adamstown.
The weekly '30' Card Game continues in the community centre this Friday, November 29, at 9 p.m.

The next draw in the Adamstown lotto takes place this Friday, November 29, in the community centre for a jackpot of €8,000 - a very nice Christmas present to win; make sure to buy a ticket and be in with a chance.

The cake sale on Thursday, November 21, raised €282 which will go towards the upgrade to the school playground. Thanks to all the parents for their donations of cakes for the cake sale and thanks to the members of the Student Council, who were a great help on the day.
After November 30, the Remembrance Tree wooden discs will be placed into envelopes with the name of the person who ordered them and will be available for collection in the church or if ordered in the school they will be dropped back to the school.
Children's Christmas Show is on December 11 and there will be a bumper raffle on the night with some great prizes.
The AGM of St Abban's Adamstown GAA Club will take place in Newbawn Hall on Sunday, December 1, at 5.30 p.m. New members welcome.

Galbally St Stephen's Day Fun Run/Walk
The time to dust down the runners is approaching in time for Galbally's 'overindulgence' festive run, walk, trot or pram push. Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host a 5k fun run/walk on St Stephen's Day, December 26. The event will begin at midday, with registration taking place from 11.30 a.m. onwards. Entry fee is €5 for adults, €10 for a family. Refreshments will be served in the hall afterwards. Everyone is invited to come along and get involved in what promises to be a fun community event.
Christmas Craft Fair
We are holding a Christmas Craft Fair to help us raise funds for the Enniscorthy Group of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust, who bring children and young adult from around the local area to Lourdes at Easter. Bree Parish Journal
Preparations are under way for this year's edition of Bree Parish Journal. All clubs and organisations in the parish should have a report of their activities over the past two years already submitted. The committee would like all those who have been married for 50 years or more and have no already been included in the journal to contact them asap. The committee is also looking for photographs particularly of groups of people from times past as well as items suitable for publication pertaining to places or people of the area including notable family celebrations. Draughts and Chess
Draughts and Chess classes take place in Bree Community Centre from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday nights. All children from the parishes of Bree, Davidstown and Cloughbawn under-eight to 15 years are welcome to come along. Cost is €2 per child to a max of €5 per family.

Bree AC AGM will take place in Bree Community Centre on Thursday, December 5, at 7.30 p.m. This is our 50th AGM.
Indoor Athletic Training has resumed in Bree Community Centre on Thursdays at 7 p.m. for five- to 11-year-olds and from 7.45 p.m. to 9 p.m. for Bree Athletic Club members. Cost is €2 per child to max of €5 per family. Little athletics concludes this Thursday till the new year.
Bingo continues Tuesdays at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. Books are €10 on the night and €2 bonus sheets are available.
Oulart & The Ballagh
The sympathy of the community is extended to Johnny and Irene Hayden and family on the death of Johnny's sister Mrs Bridie Fitzgerald, New Range, Blackwater, who passed to her eternal reward on November 19 and was buried after.
Requiem Mass in Blackwater Church, on Thursday, November 21. Bridie is mourned and will be sadly missed by her husband Michael, daughter Bridget, son William, daughter-in-law Liz, brothers Paddy and Johnny, six grand-children and three great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Her daughter Josephine and her sisters Ann and Kathleen predeceased her. Solas na bhFlaitheas dá anam dílis.
Oulart senior citizens
The committee which organises the annual Christmas party for Oulart senior citizens will run bingo in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday, December 1, beginning at 8 p.m. Your generous support would be greatly appreciated.

Ballaghkeen Book Fair
Ballaghkeen National School have organised a Book Fair featuring books from the Celtic Travelling Book Company.
This Book Fair providers an excellent opportunity for children to view and select books that they would like to read. It also encourages them to see reading as something fun and enjoyable. Every book bought will help to get free books for the school.
Books will be available for all to purchase on Tuesday, November 26, 1.40 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Don't forget that books are ideal Christmas presents and stocking fillers too. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
The local ICA Guild held its monthly meeting on November 18. After the formalities of minutes, treasurer's report and correspondence the president Marie Poiritt demonstrated and led the members in making a 'Maisiúcháin Nollag' (Christmas Decoration).
It was decided to bring forward the next meeting in Oulart Community Centre to December 9 at 7 p.m. and members were reminded that membership fees would be due at that meeting.
The guild will hold its Christmas Lunch on Saturday, January 18, and members will do Kris Kindle at that event. Anne Byrne will represent the guild in the 'autumn Foliage' competition at the next Federation meeting. A majority of members signed up to attend the Wexford Federation Lunch on Sunday, February 9.
Congratulations to Oulart ICA secretary, Anne O'Connor on achieving third place in Ireland in the National ICA Photographic competition. The theme was 'Old and Abandoned' and Anne's colour photograph was awarded third prize in its section.
The parents' association of Scoil Mochua are producing Christmas Cards as part of their fundraising activities, this year. Packs of 10 cards will be on sale for €8, €15 for two packs and €20 for three packs.

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club's annual general meeting has been re-fixed for Saturday, November 30, at 7.30 p.m., in Oulart Community Centre. The Coiste na nÓg 'End of Year' meeting will be held in January 2020.
Bingo continues in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday nights, commencing at 8 p.m. and usually concluding before 9.30 p.m. Local causes benefit from the proceeds each session. The jackpot stands at €500 and would be a great prize to win before Christmas. If you are not in, you can't win.
