Adamstown: Adamstown Development Committee - A meeting of the Development Committee will take place on Thursday, January 16, at 9pm. Can all members please attend.

A special word of thanks to our councillor Pat Barden, who gave his time so generously to get this committee off the ground.
The weekly 30 card game continues in the community centre this Friday, January 10, at 9 p.m. Catering on night will be Breda Kelly, Valerie Kelly, Anne O'Gorman and Eileen Moran. Catering on Friday the 17th will be Dympna Rochford, Mary Lawlor, Edel Crean and Marie Dunphy. Proceeds going to parish funds.
Winners of the Beauty Hampers sponsored by Gerry in Adamstown Pharmacy were Ann Lawlor and Séamus Wickham. Many thanks to Gerry for his kind sponsorship of hampers it is much appreciated.
The recent death occurred of Patricia Cashe, Castle Gardens, Enniscorthy and formerly of Monageer. Her Funeral Mass took place in Monageer on Saturday, December 28, Our deepest sympathy to her brother Willie and his wife Margaret, Knockreigh and the extended members of the Cashe Family. May her soul rest in peace.
Athletic Club news
Adamstown AC held their annual Awards Night on Saturday, December 7, There were special merit awards on the night for the senior and Juvenile athletes that qualified and competed in the all-Irelands. These Athletics were Joe Mooney, Ryan Carthy Walsh, Marguerite Furlong, Eadaoin Stafford, Sonia Mooney, Tara Doyle, Aoibhinn Crean, Ciara Mooney, Clodagh Crean, Kate Jackman, Rachel Power, Jack O'Shea, Chris St Clarie Johnston, Adam Fitzhenry and Eamonn McEvoy.
There were two awards for male and female young athlete of the year and these went to Sadbh Crean and Jack O'Shea. The club Person of the year went to Ciara Mooney and the athlete of the year went to Joe Mooney.
There was a special word of thanks to Deirdre and Eamonn Crean, Dolly and Pat Roche, Eamonn Byrne, Stuart and Gavin Rothwell, Marie Mooney for her dedication to the club, The community centre committee and the Athletic Club Committee Members. Well done to all athletes both young and old on such great performances and participation in county and National Events.
Ballyhogue GAA lotto
There was no winner or match 3winner in the recent Ballyhogue GAA Club lotto draw. The Luck Dip winner of €100 was Fintan and Maria Doyle. The Special Christmas Draw winners were €500 cash - Jim and Derry Byrne, €250 cash - Syl Doyle, Wexford, €250 cash - Dylan Codd, €250 Dominic Smith voucher - Richard Murphy, €250 Dominic Smith voucher - Clare Doyle. The next draw is on January 8 for a jackpot of €1,200. We wish all members, players and supporters best wishes for 2020.
Sincerer sympathy is extended to the wife, daughters, relations and friends of Ned Fenlon, Galbally, who died on Monday of last week. Sincere sympathy also to the parents, brother, sister, relations and friends of Stephen Dunne, Macmine, who died on Thursday last.

The next date for social dancing in Oylegate Community Centre is Sunday, January 12. Music on the night is by the hugely popular duo, Teddy and Cathal Barry, who make a very welcome return to Oylegate. Dancing from 9.30 p.m. Admission €8. Come along and enjoy a lovely night of music and dancing.
Parish Draw 2020
The parish draw for 2020 is being prepared at the moment. The draw provides essential income to the parish. A word of thanks to all who are contributing to the draw. If you would like to contribute to this monthly draw as a NEW member in 2020, please contact Fr Byrne or the parish office. There are collectors in many areas of the parish who call to collect the monthly subscription; this can be paid monthly, annually or whatever method is convenient.
Going forward for 2020, collectors are required to collect in the following areas - Coolanick, Bog Road/Bleachlands, Ryane/Ballysillagh. If you think you might be able to help as a collector, please contact the parish office as soon as possible to allow final preparations be made for the first draw in January 2020.
The GAA club penny bank has resumed for the new year, please contact your local collector to re-join, thanks for your support in 2019.
Oylegate Text Alert
It is time of year to sign up for the forthcoming text alert year. Under GDPR rules all participants need to sign a form to register for the coming year. These forms are available at Mernagh's or the Slaney Inn for collection. They need to be completed and handed back in to the committee, and your participation in this scheme is vital to help keep our community safe.
Carbon Monoxide Alarms
Muintir na Tire are offering free carbon monoxide alarms to senior citizens or people living or their own. If anyone is interested in getting these alarms please contact Eamon Mernagh or Willie Kavanagh for more details.
The first responders are now up and going and are looking for new members to join this worthy team.
Senior citizens party
The annual senior citizens Christmas party will take place on Sunday, January 19.
Poker classic continues every Friday night in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate at 9.30 p.m.
The lights will be on at the walking track at the GAA Grounds every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the facility is available to all in the community, so come along and stay fit over the winter months. The couch to 5k group meet Wednesday evenings. All welcome to take part.
Local Link Wexford
Local Link Wexford provides secure, reliable and affordable transport for the rural communities of County Wexford. Services are open to everyone and all ages. The services will accommodate those attending appointments, shopping etc. Where possible they will collect passengers from their homes. An information booklet together with timetable is available at the back of the church.
Please note Mass times in Oylegate: Saturday vigil Mass is at 6.30 p.m. Sunday morning Mass is at 10.30 a.m.
The very popular John Stamp celebrated his 60th birthday recently, in Bob's Bar, The Ballagh, surrounded by family, friends and former hurling team-mates. Instead of birthday presents, John requested that a donation be made to help the Hope Centre with its very valuable work. The grand total of €2968.46 was generously donated and will be a great help to the Enniscorthy - based charity. John would like to sincerely thank all who contributed to making his 60th birthday such a wonderful occasion and he extends a special thank-you to Bob's Bar for hosting the very enjoyable party.
Senior citizens' party
The Ballagh senior citizens' Party will be held in Bob's function room on January 11 the Party will commence at 1 p.m. If you didn't get an invitation and would like to attend, please contact Pauline Davitt (087 6864594) who will rectify the situation. Anyone with any unwanted gifts that they would like to donate for prizes, please be assured that they would be much appreciated.
Church gate collection
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the recent church gate collection in aid of Co. Wexford Community Workshop. The amount collected in the Ballagh was €370.
Thank you to all participants for your continued support. It costs just €2 to play and envelopes can be found in all local businesses: Tim's Chipper, Caroline's Hairdressing, Bob's Bar, Lounge, Shop and Takeaway, The Sawdust, Barry Walsh's Car Servicing, The Unyoke Cafe, Dick Britton PVC Ltd., The Trading Post, Angelo's Takeaway, The post office, The School Office and Bolands XL.A bumper Bonus Draw will take place on January 4.
GAA Club lotto
The winning numbers for the lotto draw for Monday, December 22, were 1, 9, 13 and 29. The Bonus Number was 18. There was no winner. The five Luck Dip winners to receive €30 each were Paul Hayes, Anne Nolan, Nell Kirwan, Mary Graham and Mary O'Connor. The Prize Fund stands at €15,000.
The next draw will take place on Monday, January 6. Book of six costs €10. Book of 12 for €20. Thank you to everyone who supported the lotto last year and we hope that the same support will continue for 2020.
GAA and camogie clubs
Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club and camogie club wish all members, players, team officials and supporters a prosperous and happy New Year and would like to thank everyone for their efforts, commitment and support during 2019 and we look forward to the same level of support in 2020.
