Adamstown - Cards: The weekly '30' card game continues in the community centre this Friday, November 23, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday the 23rd will be: Ellie Walsh and Stella Delaney. Catering on Friday, November 30, will be Cait Bradley, Josephine Hendrick and Betty O'Shea. Catering on Friday, December 7, will be Mary Kirwan, Lorna Komsa and Betty Cullen. Proceeds going to parish funds.

Card winners on Friday, November 9 were: Matty Sullivan, Pat Murphy, Matt O'Neill, John Hanley, Betty O'Shea, Kay Whelan, Séamus Joyce and Mick Bolger.

Split-the-pot

The lucky winner in Adamstown National School split-the-pot draw on Wednesday the 14th was Breege Cosgrave, who got €94. The winning school seller was Liam Duffy. The next draw is on Wednesday, November 28. Envelopes costing €2 are available in Cullen's Gala, Adamstown Pharmacy, Brad Óg's Pub and Chipper and in the school. Thanks for your support.

Recycling Collection

The parents' association in Adamstown NS will hold a Clothes Recycling Collection outside the school on Wednesday, November 28, from 9.30 a.m. Your support is much appreciated.

Sympathy

Our condolences to Maisie Colfer, The Leap, Adamstown on the death of her husband Jimmy in his 92-year on Saturday, November 10, much loved father of Seán, Séamus, Ann, Joan and MJ Sadly missed by his sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchildren, extended family relations and friends and neighbours. Jimmy's funeral Mass took place on Monday, November 12, in St Abban's Church with burial afterwards in Adamstown Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Adamstown Community Centre Cabaret held in Foley's Newbawn on Saturday, November 10. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all who sold tickets, all who supported and all who donated door prizes and raffle prizes, and all who won the prizes. The money made at the cabaret goes to much needed funds for the community centre. And also Dermot Hynes, who supplied the music. A great night was enjoyed by all.

Senior citizens Party

The senior citizens Christmas party will take place in the Horse and Hound on Sunday, December 2, at 6 p.m.

PTAA Reunion

Many people from the Newbawn, Raheen and surrounding areas will attend the annual Ferns Diocesan PTAA reunion Mass and dinner in the Riverside Park Hotel Enniscorthy on Friday, November 23, Mass will commence in the hotel at 7 p.m. and will be followed by the meal.

Food/Toy Collection

Raheen Family Resource Centre is organising a collection of non-perishable food items and new toys to be distributed to families in need on our area this Christmas. If you would like to make a donation you can leave items in to Raheen Childcare Centre or to Raheen FRC in the Parish House before Friday, December 7.

Dancing at Camross

The December dance and last one for 2018 will be held on Friday, December 7, with music by the ever popular Liam Mannering. Dancing at the earlier time of 9.30 p.m. till midnight for the winter months. Admission €10 including the tea thanks to all who supported our Nov dance with music by T Bone Country.

Rathnure Pantomime Society presents their 24th Christmas Panto, 'Broomstick: Tinkerbell's Christmas Adventure' in Rathnure hall on December 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 27, 28 and 29 at 7.45 p.m. nightly. Adamstown Tidy Towns

Adamstown Tidy Towns will be selling traditional handmade Christmas wreaths at the upcoming Coláiste Abbain Christmas Fair on Thursday, December 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Holly and dry cone wreaths all €10 each. Your support will be appreciated.

The annual collection in aid of St Vincent DePaul will take place on Saturday, December 8, and Sunday, December 9. Please give generously.

Christmas Craft Fair

Coláiste Abbáin are holding their Christmas Craft Fair on Thursday evening, December 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Free Entry to fair - Items on show will be wreaths, candles, fabric/knitted crafts, Christmas decorations/table centrepieces, buns/cakes, gifts and many many more.

This year trading is open to outside traders along with our own student creations. Looking forward to seeing you all there to enjoy the enterprise and creativity that is vibrant in Adamstown. Santas Grotto will be open from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. Entry to Santa €3.

Christmas Craft Fair

Galbally Community Centre, will host a Christmas Craft Fair on Sunday, December 2, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a number of local crafters in attendance with numerous gift ideas. Come and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere, bring the kids to see Santa, and meet friends and neighbours while supporting your local community centre. Some tables still available. Rackard League Success

Well done to the Bree Parish Schools ladies' football team who won the Rackard League Roinn B title last week beating Castlebridge in the final.

Community Playschool AGM

The AGM of Galbally Community Playschool Committee will take place this Tuesday, November 20, at 8 p.m. in Galbally National School. Everyone is very welcome to attend.

Bree Active Retired

The next meeting of Bree Active Retired Association takes place this Wednesday, November 21. We remind everyone to return the red cards at this meeting. Our Christmas lunch is booked for December 19 in the Riverside. Enquiries to 086 0747823.

Bree Bingo

bree.ie is now up and running under the auspices of Bree Community Development Group. The website content is dependent on input from all the groups and organisations in Bree Parish. Groups and organisations should have received an email about the content for their page and if anything is unclear please reply to the email or contact info@bree.ie If businesses would like to be listed on the site, please email with info on the following: Company Name, Contact Person, Phone Number and Website (if applicable) as well as a brief description of the business. Anyone working in the creative/arts field should also contact us and a section on health and Wellbeing will be added shortly. This website is a work in progress and Bree Community Development Group would appreciate your input to bring this together.

Sports/Leisure Club Anniversary

The committee of Galbally Sports and Leisure Club would like to invite you to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the opening of the hall taking place on December 8 in the Sports and Leisure Club. It promises to be a spectacular night with entertainment including music, dancing, and storytelling with instrumental pieces and ballads. Licensed Bar on night. Free entry. Strictly over-18s only.

Draughts/Chess Classes

Draughts and Chess take place on Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. in Galbally Hall. Classes are from seven to 15 years. Cost is €2 per child and €4 per family. Well done to the Bree-Davidstown Community Games, who were announced the runner-up area in Wexford at the recent Co AGM.

Athletics

Well done to Bree AC athletes at the Leinster Cross Country in Adamstown, Co Wexford last weekend. Cian Donovan (under-11) finished ninth and will represent Leinster in the national finals in Navan in December. Cian with Jayden Kenny, PJ Breen and Tom Finn were fifth in club event. Lea Bolger (under-11) also qualified for the Nationals as sub for the Wexford team which won Leinster Gold. In the under-nine races Shane Laffan finished sixth and Billy Doyle was ninth. Ava Wilson was 12th in the girls under-11. Elizabeth Egan was the first Wexford athlete home in the Ladies Senior race. Well done to all concerned.

Galbally Hall Refurbishment

The committee of Galbally Sports and Leisure Club have recently secured a grant under the town and Village Renewal Scheme amounting to €100,000 to refurbish the hall and grounds. Members of the community are invited to an EGM on Sunday, December 9, at 7 p.m. to bring new members to the committee to become involved in the refurbishment and development of Galbally Hall.

GLYNN NATIONAL SCHOOL

Rackard League: Congratulations to our boys who defeated Gorey in a very competitive Rackard League Final. Many thanks to their coaches and also to the parents and school friends who supported the boys on the night.

Mini 7s: Our girls mini sevens team have qualified for the final. Details will be announced as soon as we know.

Split-the-pot: The winner of this week's split-the-pot is Vin Whelan, who won €254. The next split-the-pot draw will be on Monday, November 26, at 8 p.m. in the school followed by a meeting of the fundraising committee. Thank you to everybody who supports the split-the-pot.

Bag Packing: We will be bag packing in Dunnes Stores on Thursday November 22, Friday, November 23, and Saturday, November 24. Please support as all funds will go towards our fundraising efforts to build a PE hall in the school.

Sing out Loud: Fifth and sixth class participated in Sing out Loud. It was an uplifting performance and all the children really enjoyed the experience.

FAI: Third and fourth classes participated in the FAI Futsal blitz. A wonderful day was had by all.

Camogie

Congratulations to our minor camogie team who defeated Bunclody in their Play-off last Saturday in Bunclody to secure a premier semi-final spot for Saturday, November 24, The camogie club AGM was held last Sunday. Thanks to everyone who attended and to all who gave their time in anyway during the outgoing season. A special thanks to our sponsors Declan and Mary for their continued support and to outgoing chairwoman Róisín Doyle for her dedication and work over the last two years. We thank the outgoing officers and committee and welcome the new ones wishing incoming chairwoman Georgina Roche the very best in her new role. We look forward to another successful year on and off the pitch.

Well done to our under-14 boys' hurling team who triumphed last Sunday morning v Naomh Eanna Gorey up in Gorey in the Martin Storey league. Well done, all.

Rackard League Success

Congratulations to Glynn NS boys who won the Rackard League B Football final last Monday night in great style in St Patrick's Park. The boys put in a wonderful performance and great credit goes to all involved in their preparation. Joint captains Fionn and Tom accepted the cup on behalf of their delighted teammates. Glynn NS 7-3 - St Joseph's Gorey 2-6.

Senior GAA

Some of our championship winning Junior A hurlers popped into Glynn NS with the cup last Friday. Thanks to manager Paul and players Paschal, Cormac and PJ for representing the club and a big thank you to the children and staff for the warm Green and Blue welcome received.

GAA lotto

FINAL LOTTO OF 2018. Numbers drawn were 21, 22, 29 and 31. There was no jackpot winner.One match-three winner - Deirdre Kearns. Jackpot now €5,800 Next draw will be in Martys on November 28 and this will be the first draw of the Next 2018/19 lotto.

CLUB LOTTO 2018/19 - The first draw for the club lotto 18/19 takes place on November 28. This fundraiser is vital for the day to day running of the club and is separate from the development fundraiser. Split the Pot Barntown

The latest split-the-pot winner in aid of Barntown Parish, is Bernard Hillis. It's the second time Bernard has had his name pulled from the hat, this time taking €170. Congratulations to you Bernard. 2019 Calendars are on sale now for in the parish office and also in the church. There are some lovely pictures of the church inside and also the grounds outside. Great value at €5 each or three for €10.

St. Vincent de Paul

The annual Christmas St Vincent de Paul Appeal is due to take place in Glynn and Barntown Churches, on the weekend of December 1 and two. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Table quiz

A table quiz takes place at Wexford Golf Club on Saturday, November 24, at 8.30 p.m. Come along, with or without a team, enjoy a fun evening. Your support would be greatly appreciated. We look forward to seeing you on the night. Proceeds in aid of Ferns Youth Ministry.

Badminton

Barntown Heritage Group

Barntown Heritage Group have recently formed as a group which consists of a number of local volunteers. We are all about promoting and developing awareness of the huge depth of history within Barntown from famous events, historical structures and local people.

To achieve this we hope to work on a number of projects each year. At the moment we are working on resurrecting the Three Rocks Trail. This trail takes you through a historical journey of the famous three Rocks 1798 battle which was a huge part of the 1798 rebellion.
