Adamstown - Cards: The weekly '30' Card Game continues in the community centre this Friday, May 10, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday the 10th will be Angela Dooley, Elizabeth Doyle and Maria Carty. Catering on Friday the 17th will be Catherine Moore, Kathleen O'Connor, Nancy Walsh and Tina Whelan. Catering on Friday the 24th will be Ann Marie Mackey, Ann Redmond and Catherine Furlong. Catering on Friday the 31st will be Ellie Walsh and Stella Delaney. Proceeds going to parish funds.

Vintage Club Presentation

Shamrock Vintage Club had their 'Presentation Night' from their very successful Pat Byrne Road Run on Friday, April 26, in Cullen's Lounge. Vintage club representatives Phil Jackman and Mogue Curtis presented parish priest Fr Robert Nolan with a cheque for €3,000 for Parochial Funds.

Fr Nolan thanked the Shamrock Vintage Club for organising the Road Run and their thoughtfulness and generosity in donating the total proceeds to Adamstown Parochial Funds. Thanks also to the drivers, sponsors, those who gave donations, food or helped on the day to make it such a success. Well done to all concerned. Thanks to the ladies for the cuppa and biscuits.

Sympathy

Our condolences to Tommy and Dympna Rochford and family on the death of Tommy's father John (Jack) Rochford, Ballyleigh, New Ross, which occurred on Tuesday, April 30. Sympathy also to his wife Josie, daughter Mary and all the family. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St Brendan's Church, Drummond on Friday last with burial in Rathgarogue Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Sympathy also to John O'Connor, Newtown, and all the family, on the death of their aunt Margaret (Peggy) Kenny (née O'Connor) Ballinguilla, Crookstown, Cork on April 23. Her funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, April 26, in St Aidan's Church, Clongeen with burial afterwards in the New Cemetery, Clongeen. May she rest in peace.

Sympathy also to Diane and Adrian Kelly and family Doononey, Adamstown, on the death of Diane's father John Jordon Kyle, Crossabeg recently. His funeral Mass took place in Crossabeg church with burial afterwards in adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Bree Hub opening

The official opening of the Bree Hub, Bree Playground and Bree Hill Walks, part of the town and Village Rural Development Scheme, will take place at Bree Community Centre on Friday, May 10, at 7 p.m.

Handball all-Ireland

Congratulations to Ballyhogue handballers Peter Hughes and Galen Riordan, who recently won the all-Ireland Intermediate 40x20 Doubles Final defeating Tyrone.

Night at the Dogs

Bree United Soccer Club is hosting its annual 'Night at the Dogs' in Enniscorthy Greyhound Track on Thursday, May 16. Your support would be appreciated.

Ballyhogue GAA lotto

Support is needed to share the responsibility of the monitoring and paying for our playground. Training for Bree AC takes place on Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in Ballyhogue GAA Grounds. Little Athletics for four to eight years has resumed on Mondays only in the top field from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The second day of the Co Championships are on May 12 in the Enniscorthy Hub.

The unit are back after their Easter break and are so busy. Well done to all the sections who held a fun disco to raise cash for the Dare to Care dance for cancer challenge. Wexford Tidy Towns

We have been nominated by the Department of Rural and Community Development to take part in Ireland's Best Kept Town 2019. This is an All Island Competition organised jointly by the Department and the Northern Ireland Amenity Council.

We feel that it is a big honour for Wexford, and we are asking for your support over the next few months to keep our town looking beautiful and litter-free. Judging will take in place in May 2019 and we would really appreciate the help of everybody in the community to achieve success in this competition.

We would encourage everybody to keep their own area litter-free, dog owners to clean up after their dogs, and to bring rubbish home rather than littering the town. We thank you in advance for your co-operation.

Kennedy Park Neon 5K run

Kennedy Park National School will host their Neon 5K run on Sunday, May 12, at 10.30 a.m. All proceeds will go to the new astro pitch. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Family Support Drop-in

Wexford Family Support Drop-in service will take place on May 28 from 11 to two, at FAB Community Development Project, Coolcotts, Wexford. The clinic is facilitated by a member of the Family Support Team at TUSLA, and is aimed at parents in the community. Each confidential consultation lasts approximately 30 minutes.

The issues covered can include communication issues, parenting dilemmas, family crisis, behavioural issues, problems at school, daily routines, relationship difficulties, and how to access supports and services. Each session will be manged by staff, and if a resolution is not possible on the day, staff will direct parents to a relevant service.

Na Fianna Clonard

Our annual golf classic takes place on Friday, June 14, at Wexford Golf Club. Cost is €160 per team of four people which includes dinner. For more information contact Thomas McLoughlin at 087 6184344.

Underage training continues on Tuesday evening from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. for all boys and girls from four years up. Training on Saturday morning for under-8, under-10, under-12 camogie, under-nine and under-11 hurling. All training now takes place on the pitch in Coolcotts. New members welcome, hurls and helmets provided if needed. Adult training takes place every Wednesday evening at 7.15 p.m.

Clon Vols Ladies' GAA

Congratulations to Issuelt McKiernan Becker, who came a very close second in the recent Wexford ladies' football Talent Show in the Ferrycarrig Hotel.

Clon Vols under-14 girls secured their well deserved place in the Féile semi-final on Monday evening in Ferns V Clonee, after a fantastic fight for a place in the final with the game being a draw up to the last five minutes, the win was not in favour of the town girls. It was a great achievement to get so far with over 30 teams entered. Wendys under-10 girls travelled away to Glynn-Barntown on Thursday evening where a great sporting game was had by all.

The under-12 girls travelled to Shels pitch on Sunday to take part in the first blitz of the season, under the guidance of Wendy, Paul and Mary the girls secured three wins out of three, all our new girls played exceptionally well and were very impressive.

Well done to the Clon Vols girls who are having great success with the Mercy School Johns road competing in the Rackard League.

Barntown Community Centre Fundraising Committee is hosting a Bingo Evening in Barntown Community Centre on Saturday, May 18, at 5 p.m. €10 for a book of 10 games.
