Adamstown: Coffee Morning - A coffee morning and sale will be held in Clonroche community hall on Friday, November 1, from 10am to midday in aid of Irish life boats and Killegney Rossdroit parishes.

There will be a raffle, cakes, bricabrac, produce, books, bottle stall and much more. Come and buy your Christmas cards and gifts and stay for a cuppa and a chat. Everyone welcome.

Cards

The weekly '30' Card Game continues in the community centre this Friday, October 25, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday the 25th will be Breda Bolger, Helen Furlong and Liz Furlong. Catering on Friday, November 1, will be Frances Gallagher and Mary J Furlong. Catering on Friday, November 8, will be Angela Dooley, Elizabeth Doyle and Maria Carty. On Friday, November 15, will be Catherine Moore, Nancy Walsh and Tina Whelan. Proceeds going to parish funds.

Card winners on Friday, October 4, were Matt O'Neill, John Hanley, John Murphy, Tom Rochford, Richie Murphy, Paddy Finn, Seán Cullen, Johnny Nolan, Matty Sullivan and Pat Murphy.

Split-the-pot Draw

Adamstown National School split-the-pot draw takes place this Wednesday, October 23, in the school. Envelopes costing €2 are available in Cullen's Gala, Adamstown Pharmacy, Brad Óg's Pub and Takeaway and in the school. Your support is very much appreciated.

Athletic Club news

Results from day one of the Mr Oil County Juvenile Even Ages Cross Country, which took place in JF Kennedy Park, New Ross on Sunday, October 6.

Emily English finished in eighth place in the girls under-10 500m race. There was a large field in the boys under-10 race, well done to all our athletes who competed Aidan O'Callaghan, Harry Kent, Bobby O'Shea, Seán Moran and Cillian O'Shea. Gráinne English ran a great race to finish fourth in the girls under-14 3,000m; with Ross English also finishing fourth in the under-14 boys 3,000m. Well done to Ciara Mooney finishing 11th in the under-16 3,500m. Aoibhinn Crean ran a great race to finish third in the Junior Women's 4,000m. Well done to all our competitors on the day including, Myia Siggins under-12 girls 2,000m. Luke Siggins under-14 boys 3,000m. And Joe Mooney in the Novice Men's 6,000m race.

Results from day two of the Mr Oil Uneven Ages Cross Country Championships, which took place in Coolgreany on Sunday, October 13. Lily O'Callaghan finished fifth, followed by Pippa Fortune in the under-nine girls 500m. Adamstown had five boys competing in the Boys 500m race Seán Moran fifth; Bobby O'Shea sixth; Harry Kent eighth; Will Fortune ninth and Cillian O'Shea 11th. Well done to Aidan O'Callaghan, who competed in the under-11 boys 1,500m. and Áine Crean in the under-11 girls 1,500m. Jack O'Shea finished in fourth place in the under-13 boys 2,500m. There were five athletes in the under-15 girls 3,500m with Gráinne English finishing in fourth place. Also competing were, Niamh English, Sadbh Crean, Isobel English and Ciara Mooney. Well done to Aoibheann Crean finishing in third place in the under-17 girls 4,000m.

Well done to all the athletes that competed over both days of the County's and best of luck to those who will now go on to compete for their club and county at the Leinster Championships.

Sympathy

Our sincere sympathy to Margaret Nolan and all the family on the death of John Joe Nolan, The Forge House, Whitechurch. John was the founder of a charity which has helped thousands of street children in the Romanian capital city of Bucharest. Adamstown Parish had collected food and money on several occasions to give to John as he embarked on his many trips to Bucharest. His funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday last in St Brigid's Church, Ballykelly with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. May his kind soul rest in peace.

Development Meeting

Cllr Pat Barden will host Development meeting on Thursday, November 7, in Adamstown Community Centre at 9 p.m. All individuals, Clubs, Businesses and Organisations are invited to attend this important meeting with a view to establishing a Development Committee for the Adamstown Community. It is imperative for Adamstown to establish a Development Committee in order to capitalize on funding available with the overall aim of enhancing and developing amenities within our village. All individuals, Clubs, Businesses and Organisations are invited to attend this important meeting.

A table quiz in aid of St John's Clonmore will be held in Enniscorthy Rugby Club at 8 p.m. this Friday, October 25. The quiz will start at 8 p.m. All support appreciated.

Scoil Mhuire NS Ballyhogue

The school is holding a clothing collection on Wednesday, October 23. We ask relatives of students attending the school as well as others in the community to collect any clothing or related items they no longer need. Donations of all clothing types, paired shoes, belts, curtains, bed linens and towels are accepted and should be dropped off at the school before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23. The school will raise funds for every kg donated. Thank you for your support.

Galbally table quiz

Galbally Sports and Leisure Club table quiz will take place in the Sycamore House, Killurin (Declan's) on Friday, October 25, at 9 p.m. Table of four €25. Cash prizes and raffle on the night.

Bree Parish Journal

Preparations are under way for this year's edition of Bree Parish Journal. All clubs and organisations in the parish are asked to have a report of their activities over the past two years ready by the end of October.

The committee is also looking for photographs particularly of groups of people from times past as well as items suitable for publication pertaining to places or people of the area including notable family celebrations. Fashion Show

Many thanks to all for your generous support for the Fashion Show in aid of Bree Community Playground.

Thanks also to Mary Hudson of 'Glamour' and to Vivian Doyle of 'Ottiva' in Enniscorthy, who provided the clothes, and thanks to Monica English of 'Perfection with Mon' and the' Student Hair Academy' of Enniscorthy VEC who did the makeup and hairs for the models.

Children's Disco

A Halloween Disco will be held in Bree Community Centre from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for all primary school children. All children from Bree, Galbally and Ballyhogue schools are welcome to attend.

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to the sons, daughter, relations and friends of Josie Spratt, who died on Tuesday last. Her remains were interred in the new cemetery, Bree following Mass on Thursday.

Galbally NS Report

Congratulations to Erin Walsh, who won a prize in the 'Thor and Freya' colouring competition in association with the National Heritage Park. The children will also taking part in the upcoming National Disability Authority and Credit Union art and the Folens Halloween colouring competitions.

A big thank you to Enniscorthy Fire Station for delivering a very worthwhile and informative visit to the school as part of a surprise Fire Drill. The beginning of year Mass was held on Wednesday, October 2. The children will be taking part in a sponsored Halloween Walk on Friday, October 25, and will be taking part in the Sing Out Loud Concert in the National Opera House on Monday, November 11.

The school are still collecting Aldi rugby stickers, if anyone has any unwanted stickers we would greatly appreciate them, a big thank you to everyone who has donated stickers to date.

The pupils are currently enjoying GAA training, have just completed four weeks of Rounders coaching, and are looking forward to Zumba classes next term.

The pupils showed their support for Ballyhogue GAA Club by having a Lá na gClub day on Friday, October 18. All the children wore the Ballyhogue GAA colours to support the club who have several county semi-finals and finals in the coming weeks.

Bree Bingo Bingo continues Tuesdays at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. Books are €10 on the night and €2 bonus sheets are available.

Indoor Athletics

Indoor Athletic Training has resumed in Bree Community Centre on Thursdays at 7 p.m. for five- to 11-year-olds and from 7.45 p.m. to 9 p.m. for Bree Athletic Club members. Cost is €2 per child to max of €5 per family.

Christmas Craft Fair

Yoga Classes

Yoga Classes continue in Bree Community Centre with Grace Reddington on Monday nights from 8.15 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. and on Thursday mornings from 10.15 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Please bring your own mat. Cost is €10.

Smart Fitness

Smart Fitness Kettlebell and Circuit Training Classes continue in Galbally Hall every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7 p.m. The classes are suitable for total beginners and are a mix of kettlebell, bodyweight, floor and core exercises.
