Adamstown: Tidy Towns - Adamstown Tidy Towns Have acquired funding under the Community Enhance Programme with thanks to Wexford County Council.

Money secured will go towards erecting bollards and extra street pole bins to help ensure our village is kept both safe and tidy.


The weekly '30' Card game continues in the community centre this Friday, August 2, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday, 2 August, will be: Bernie Hickey, Evelyn O'Gorman and Ann O'Gorman. On Friday, 9 August, it will be: Bridget O'Gorman, Ann Stafford, Agnes Whelan and Kay Whelan. On Friday, August 16, it will be: Mary Jackman, Eleanor Power and Ann Jackman. Proceeds going to parish funds. Card winners on Friday, July 19, were: Matty Sullivan, Pat Murphy, Seán Cullen, John Nolan, Pat Doyle, Owen Elmes, Matt O'Neill and John Hanley.

Adamstown lotto

The winning numbers in the Adamstown lotto draw on Friday, July 19, were 2, 8, 11 and 22. There was no jackpot winner and no match three players. The following were lucky-dip winners and each received €50: Helen Furlong, Misterin, Mary Kirwan, Barrack's Road, Richard O'Gorman, Kellystown and Ann Marie Dunphy, Newtown. The next draw is on this Friday, August 2, in the community centre for a jackpot of €6,400. Do keep on buying the tickets and help support our local clubs and parish.


Our deepest sympathy to Tom and Angela Furlong and family, Knockreigh on the death of his brother-in-law Patrick (Pat) Murphy, Clologue on Saturday last. To his wife Mary, daughters, son and extended family our sympathy also. Pat's funeral Mass was celebrated in St Brigid's Church, Clologue on Tuesday last with burial in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.


Bree Patron

Bree Patron will be on Sunday, August 18, commencing in Clonmore at 1.30 p.m., Bree New Cemetery 2 p.m., Bree Old Cemetery 2.30 p.m. and concluding with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the church.

Tractor Run

Bree Vintage Club wishes to thank all those who supported their recent Tractor Run and all those who helped in any way. The AGM of the club is on August 9 in Garry Byrne's Lounge at 8.30 p.m.

Car Boot Sale

Bookings are now being taken for our August Bank Holiday car boot sale in Galbally on Monday, August 5. Take note of new public opening time of midday to 4 p.m. Stallholders can arrive from 10.30. Bree Barndance

Bree Barndance, in association with Bree Development Group, takes place on Saturday, August 24, in Byrne's of Bree Grainstore with 'The Kilkennys' as feature band, preceded by local talent Colleen Coughlan, and followed by DJ till late. Tickets at €20 each are available on 'Eventbrite Bree Barndance 2019' and in Byrne's of Bree. Taxies will be available all night long. All funds raised this year go towards loan repayments for Bree Walking Trails, Bree Hub and Children's Playground.

Celtic Roots' 'Full Irish'

A Full Irish show, in association with Celtic Roots, continues in Bree Hall on Tuesdays nights for the months of July and August. Tea and scones are served at 8.30 p.m. and the night's entertainment begins at 9 p.m. with music, song, dance and storytelling. Admission is €10 for adults with concessions for children and groups. Ballyhogue GAA lotto

The numbers drawn in the most recent lotto draw were 2, 9, 11 and 17. There was no jackpot winner. Match-three winners were Syl Doyle (Wexford), Adrian Dunne, Liam Blackburn, James Breen, Seán Rochford, Peter Byrne and Cathal Ryan. The next draw is August 7 and the jackpot is now €3000.


Patrons in the Parish

The Patrons this year will not include Masses, but instead they will be services where prayers are said, scripture proclaimed, prayers of intercession offered, the Lord's Prayer, concluding with a blessing of the people and the blessing of the graves. Well done to our junior camogie team who had an impressive win over Bunclody on Monday evening in Killurin.

Congratulations also to our under-14 Green camogie team on their win over Bunclody on Wednesday evening. This win has secured the girls at the top of their division, with a game in hand.

COUNTY CAMOGIE - Wexford won the under-15 Leinster camogie blitz last Saturday defeating Kilkenny in the final. Clubgirl Ciara Butler was joint Captain with Sarah Doyle. Well done also to selector and club lady Tara O'Brien.

Congratulations to clubgirl Grace Roche, who played a pivotal role for Wexford's under-16 camogie team, defeating Dublin last Sunday in a thriller to book an all-Ireland 'A' semi-final place.

Coiste na nÓg

Our under-eight hurlers put in impressive performances on the Quay over last Saturday. Well done to all involved.

Well done to our under-15 hurlers who defeated St Anne's Rathangan 4-13 to 3-9 on Tuesday evening.

Congratulations to our under-13 footballers who had a comfortable win over Starlights in championship also on Tuesday evening in Killurin.

Senior GAA

Our Junior footballers missed out on a league title on Tuesday evening when they were beaten by Castletown in St Patrick's Park.

The game was a tight affair for most of the duration but two quick goals (one from a penalty) in the closing 10 minutes saw Castletown pull away and win the game.

Club Lotto

Scout Group

'American Tea Party'

The board of Knockingall Community Centre are once again organising the 'American Tea Party' type community social night on Friday, September 20, details will be sent to all groups late August and we hope you will all come along and support this fundraising event. Tickets will be €10 same as last year. Live music this year.

The eight Skylight Windows need replacing in the centre due to seal perishing. we are also seeking grants and have received some grants, to upgrade the kitchen units etc. All ground work completed eg. new barbecue area and Campfire area have all been upgraded with money obtained through grant aid, our new outdoor furniture also is grant aided, so thanks to Wexford County Council and Community Development Section in the council - so once again thanks to all for their support.


Piercestown patron is on Friday, August 2, at 7.30 p.m. in the cemetery. The Murrintown patron is on Sunday, August 4, in Kildavavin cemetery at 1.15 p.m. and the new cemetery at 1.30 p.m. Blessing of the graves and Mass 2 p.m.

Multi-Activity camp

Linda and Lisa Bolger will be running a summer camp for four- to 10-year-olds and 11- to 14-year-olds in St Martin's GAA Complex from Monday, August 12, to Friday, August 16. Camp will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Camp will include a variety of fun activities including fun games, obstacle courses, orienteering, scavenger hunt, ball sports, team challenges, arts and crafts, Masterchef and much much more. Dancing at Camross

The August dance will be held on Friday, August 2, in Camross Ballroom with music by John Molloy. John has visited Camross on previous occasions and has proved to be a big hit with our supporters. Dancing 9.30 p.m. till late. Adm. €10 including the tea.

History Society

Taghmon History Society would like to invite anyone with an interest in local history to become involved in the activities of the organisation. The present committee feel that new direction and ideas are needed to carry the society into the future. If interested, please phone 087 7681523.

GAA notes

The club's under-13 hurlers play at home to Our Lady's Island/St Fintan's on Tuesday at 7.30. Two days later our minor hurlers play away to Geraldine O'Hanrahans, and have another game against Kilmore at home at 11 a.m. on Saturday of the bank holiday weekend. Our intermediate footballers may be back in championship action next weekend depending on Wexford's result. Look out for details on social media if Tipperary prevail on Sunday in Croke Park.

The lotto jackpot wasn't won last week but there were seven match-three winners that shared €200. The next draw takes place on August 6 the jackpot will remain at €14,000 till we get a winner. Robert Mizzell will be returning to the community centre again in August after his very successful concert there last summer. Tickets for the concert which will take place on August 30 will cost €15. Sabrina Farrell will also play on the night. Finally thanks to all members helping out with the clean-up of the grounds.
