Adamstown: Adamstown AC - There were some great performances at day two of the Irish Life Health National Juvenile Track and Field Championships from Adamstown athletes in Tullamore on Saturday, July 13.
Ciara Mooney was second in the girls under-15 2K Walk in a time of 10.52. Aoibheann Crean finished fifth in the under-17 girls 3K Walk. Éadaoin Stafford finished in second place in the under-19 girls Shot Put, throwing 9.90 m. Sonia Mooney was second in the under-19 girls Javelin, with a throw of 25.83 m. Tara Doyle was third in the under-19 Triple Jump, jumping 10.36 m. Éadaoin Stafford also finished in fourth place with a best throw of 25.33 m in the under-19 girls Discus on the final day of the National Championships. Well done to all the athletes competing and performing so well at national level.
The weekly '30' Card game continues in the community centre this Friday, July 26, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on the night will be by Ellen Furlong, Bridget Colfer and Margaret Furlong. Proceeds going to parish funds. St Abban's Adamstown GAA Club
Saturday, July 13, was an historic day for St Abban's Adamstown GAA Club when the president of the GAA John Horan cut the ribbon to officially open their first pitch in 132 years. The day was a wonderful celebration involving the communities of Adamstown, Newbawn and Raheen. Girls, boys, ladies and men all got the opportunity to play camogie, hurling and football on the new pitch in the brilliant sunshine on Friday evening and Saturday. It was an occasion that brought young and not so young together with smiles on their faces. A large crowd attended the 'Sports Stars in Conversation' on Friday night in Coláiste Abbáin. All agreed it was very informative and highly entertaining. Thank you to everyone who brought the project to this stage, who were involved in the preparation and planning, who helped out on the day and who supported the opening. The club look forward to many years of participation, success and enjoyment in the future. Thank you to everyone who so generously supported the raffle, to the sponsors who donated the prizes and finally thanks to all who helped sell the tickets over the two days, Your help as always is much appreciated. Wexford Federation of the ICA recently unveiled a seat in Clonmore Cemetery and Bree ICA garden to commemorate Anita Lett. Federation were joined by our National president Mrs Josephine Helley, National PRO Carmel Dawson and Regional president Margot Hennessey and ICA members from other guilds as well as Anita Lett's granddaughter Anita McNamara and her husband Dominic.
Bree Barndance, in association with Bree Development Group, takes place on Saturday, August 24, in Byrne's of Bree Grainstore with 'The Kilkennys', followed by DJ till late. Tickets are available on 'Eventbrite Bree Barndance 2019' and in Byrne's of Bree, Taxies will be available all night long. Enjoy a good night out and all funds raised are for loan repayments for Bree Walking Trails, Hub and Children's Playground.
Celtic Roots' 'Full Irish'
A Full Irish show, in association with Celtic Roots, continues in Bree Hall on Tuesdays nights for the months of July and August. Tea and scones are served at 8.30 p.m. and the night's entertainment begins at 9 p.m. with music, song, dance and storytelling. Admission is €10 for adults, with concessions for children and groups. World Cup Assistant Referee
Congratulations to Michelle O'Neill, formerly Clonmore, Bree, who has just returned from the Women's Soccer World Cup having been one of the assistant referees for the tournament. Michelle featured in a number of games during the competition and was delighted to be chosen as one of the two assistant referees for the final. Congratulations on such a great achievement.

The annual patron and field day was a great success. Thanks to all the volunteers and helpers who made the preparations and worked on the day. The help and support of community activists is always vital on such occasions and thankfully, The Ballagh community is never found wanting when help is needed. Thanks also to the school authorities who responded positively when the sound system broke down. Ní neart go cur le chéile.
The Big Draw
The first prize of €100 was won by Matt Gahan, Brendan Donohoe won €50 while Joan Byrne won €25. Fourth prize of €20 went to the Atkinson family, Sliabh na Gréine and Joseph O'Connor, Ballymurray, won €10. Danny Nolan, Ballinamona, was the winner of the Bag of Spuds Draw.

Community CPR Training is an Irish Heart Foundation programme, supported by Abbott and ESB Networks, which offer free CPR Training in communities across Ireland. There will be a Hands for Life training in Oulart Community Centre on Wednesday, July 24. GAA Cúl Camps
The GAA summer Camp held in Oulart in early July was an outstanding success and an added bonus for the youngsters was that Shaun Murphy and Kevin Foley brought the Bob O'Keeffe Cup to the camp on the last day. The boys and girls were thrilled to meet two of Wexford's stars and to get photographs with the trophy. Oulart-The Ballagh will host a second Cúl Camp, from August 12 to August 16.
