Adamstown: Parents' association AGM - The annual general meeting of Adamstown NS parents' association took place on Thursday, October 3.
Thanks to all who turned up, your support and input is appreciated. It has been agreed that all efforts of fundraising this year will go towards the cost of additional dry area (tarmac) for the school children to play on during the wet days.
Thanks for all the help to two outgoing members from last year - Orla Doyle and Maryka Graham, and extending a warm welcome to two new members, Liz Moran and Noeleen Burrows.

The weekly '30' Card Game continues in the community centre this Friday, October 18, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday the 18th will be Rosie Siggins, Maria Murphy and Maura Barden. Catering on Friday, October 25, will be Breda Bolger, Helen Furlong and Liz Furlong. Catering on Friday, November 1, will be Frances Gallagher and Mary J Furlong. Proceeds going to parish funds.
Card winners on Friday, October 4, were Bridie Dillon, Chris Byrne, Phil and Mary Jackman, Matt O'Neill, John Hanley.
Adamstown lotto Results
The winning numbers in the Adamstown lotto draw on Friday, October 4, were 1, 7, 14 and 16. There was no jackpot winner, the following three players matched three numbers and each got €70. Paddy Cahill, Taghmon, Eugene Bradley, Newbawn and Shane O'Neill, The Boola. The next draw is in the community centre on Friday, October 18, for a jackpot of €7,400. Our deepest sympathy to Kay Tawse, Bushpark, Oldross on the death of her husband Peter following a tragic accident on Sunday last. Sympathy also to his family in England and all the Furlong family, Misterin, His funeral service took place in St Abban's Church on Friday last with burial in the adjoining cemetery. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
The lucky winner in the Adamstown NS split-the-pot draw in Wednesday, October 9, was Louise Whelan (Jun Inf) who got €80. The school seller's prize went to Ava Kelly. Many thanks for your continued support.
The death occurred on Thursday, October 3, of Benny McCabe. Templenacroha, to his wife Kay, daughters Marie, Therese, Bernie and son Aidan, grandchildren, sisters our deepest sympathy. Our sympathy also to his brothers-in-law Jack and Jimmy Galway, sister-in-law Anna McCarthy, extended family, neighbours and friends. Benny's funeral Mass was celebrated in the Church of St John Paul, Raheen on Saturday, October 5, with burial afterwards in Adamstown Cemetery. May his kind soul rest in peace.
Our sincere sympathy to Jack O'Donohue and family, Tomgarrow on the death of his grandmother, Mrs Maureen Ivors, Upper Ballingarry, Co. Tipperary, who died on October 2. May she rest in peace.
Tidy Towns Committee
Congratulations to Adamstown-Maigh Arnaí on entering for the first time in SuperValu Tidy Town competition 2019. Adamstown Village has great potential further in the competition. The completion of some high profile projects in the coming years will help attract a greater number of volunteers to the cause and this will ease the future workload of the committee in progressing ongoing enhancement schemes. You are wished well for the future. Well done to all.
Cllr Pat Barden will host Development meeting on Thursday, November 7, in Adamstown Community Centre at 9 p.m. All individuals, Clubs, Businesses and Organisations are invited to attend this important meeting with a view to establishing a Development Committee for the Adamstown Community. It is imperative for Adamstown to establish a Development Committee in order to capitalize on funding available with the overall aim of enhancing and developing amenities within our village. Raheen Family Resource Centre is organising two free talks for parents in the coming weeks. The talks will be by the author and therapist Carina McEvoy. Line Dancing Classes

Workshops: George O'Connor will give a Mental Wellbeing talk for parents in Co. Wexford Education Centre on November 12. There is also an Autism Workshop for parents on November 5 also in Co Wexford Education Centre.
Sing out Loud: Our fifth and sixth classes are busy preparing for Sing out Loud which will take place on November 17 in the Opera House.
Mini Sevens: Well done to the girls who have qualified for the third phase of the Mini Sevens.
On the pitch: The girls Rising Stars team got off to a winning start last week while the two Rackard League teams have qualified for the A quarter finals.

Hospice Coffee Morning
The recent Bewleys coffee morning in O'Brien's Londis raised €350 for our local hospice. Thank you to the event organisers and to Londis customers for your support on the day.

Hard luck to our under-14 camogie team who unfortunately missed out on the title with a loss in their replayed county final last Sunday. The girls fought hard on the day but it was not to be and Kilrush took the spoils. Well done to all involved.
Our Junior B camogie team had to settle for second place also on Sunday when they were defeated by Taghmon-Camross in their county final. The girls put in an excellent performance in a very tight game but the opposition pulled clear in the end. Well done to all players and management.

Well done to our under-15 Footballers through to a Co Premier semi-final after a win over St Anne's recently.

Our Academy kids were delighted to pose with the Bob O'Keeffe and O'Hanrahan cups last Saturday morning at training.

Confirmation in Glynn in 2020 takes place on March 21 at 11 a.m. Confirmation takes place at 2 p.m. in Barntown on the same day. First Communion takes place on May 9, 2020, at Glynn at 11 a.m. and on May 16, 2020, in Barntown.
Adoration at Barntown Church
