Adamstown: Environment Awards - Congratulations to John and Ann O'Brien, Adamstown, who received an award and hamper at the recent annual Wexford County Council Environment Awards Ceremony in the Ferrycarrig Hotel. Well done John and Ann.
Adamstown lotto results
The winning numbers in the Adamstown lotto draw on Friday, November 29, were 1, 9, 21 and 25. There was no jackpot winner. One match-three winner - Catherine Asple, Garryduff, who received €200. The next draw is on Friday, December 13, in the community centre for a jackpot of €8,200. Keep on buying the tickets and in doing so help our local GAA, Soccer Clubs and Parish Committee.
St Abban's GAA Club
A word of thanks from St Abban's GAA Club for your co-operation and support over the last six years. The club has made great progress in recent times and this would not be possible without the support of the entire parish. Any progress made, we hope will be of benefit to everyone in the community. The weekly '30' Card Game continues in the community centre this Friday, December 13, at 9 p.m. Thanks to the ladies for the tea last week. Catering on Friday, December 13, will be Mary Kirwan, Lorna Komsa and Betty Cullen. Catering on Friday, December 20, will be Maureen Bradley, Linda Duffy and Denise Harler. Proceeds going to parish funds.

The card players extend their sympathy to Chris Byrne on the death of her brother in England and formerly Ballyshannon Lane. May he rest in peace.

Coláiste Abbáin Christmas Craft Fair
Excitement is building in the school in the run up our annual Christmas Craft Fair from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 12. Entry is free.
Lots of wonderful Christmas presents will be on sale from both our own students and outside traders. Tea and coffee will be served.
Santa will also be making an appearance in his grotto from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., €5 per child. Face painting €1, free entertainment, art activities and Christmas tattoos available on the night. Come along, support local traders and enjoy the festive and entrepreneurial spirit that is vibrant in our village.
ICA ladies, remember our monthly meeting takes place on Tuesday, December 10, as school concert is on Wednesday the 11th.
Please have your membership money on the night and please bring €10 in lieu of Kris Kindle. Like last year it was decided to donate the money instead to the Women's Refuge. Put on your festive gear ladies, jumpers, hats, jewellery, whatever takes your fancy, we're going to have a fun night Ho. Ho. Ho.
Adamstown National School News
Split-the-pot winner on Wednesday, December 4, was Daniel Payne (first class) who got €60 purchased in the school. School winner was Róisin Cullen. Next split-the-pot draw on Wednesday, December 18, the last one for 2019. Thanks to everyone for their support.
Adamstown National School Children's Concert is on Wednesday, December 11, in Coláiste Abbáin at 7 p.m. Admission on the night is €5 for all excluding Primary school children. There will also be a raffle on the night organised by the parents' association with some great prizes. All funds raised will go towards funds to upgrade the school playground. Hope to see you all there on the night.

Adamstown Tidy Towns Adamstown Tidy Towns will be selling homemade Christmas Wreaths in Coláiste Abbáin Christmas Craft Fair on December 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wreaths are now on sale in Cullen's Gala at a cost of €10. All proceeds will go towards our very own Adamstown Tidy Towns.

Well Dance and Movement
Following on from a successful coffee morning held by Barntown Community Centre recently, an exciting new activity has commenced for the more senior members of our community. You are invited to join Saoirse, for a session of 'Well Dance and Movement' at 11 every Tuesday in Barntown Community Centre. Combining Music and Movement is a recipe to feeling wonderful.
This class will guide you through a some simple, gentle, modern dance movements and exercises to music, which help to improve balance, fluidity, flexibility and strength. Saoirse is a recent graduate from Inchicore College of dance and has also completed her first year of Exercise and Fitness Training with university of Limerick. Don't miss out - get to the session - €5 per class - and yes, there will be chairs to take a breather.

Christmas Arrangements - dates for your diary. December 12: Infant Christmas Play (hall) at 1 p.m. December 12: First and second class Nativity play in the church at 7.30 p.m. December 17 and 18: Christmas play for third, fourth, fifth and sixth classes at 7.30 p.m. in the hall.
On behalf of the school community we wish to thank the parish and hall committee for the use of their facilities. Tickets for the shows on December 17 and 18 (third class to sixth class) will go on sale on Monday, December 9. Families of participating children will get first preference and will be limited to four per family. Any surplus ticket will be go on sale on Monday, December 16.
Christmas Jumper Fundraising initative - December 19: The Students Council are organising a Christmas Jumper Day when children are encouraged to wear a Christmas jumper, hat, tie, T-shirt, etc. All proceeds will go to Crumlin Children's Hospital. Please donate as much or as little as you wish and do not go to any expense.
School Holidays - December 20: School closes at 12.30 p.m. for the Christmas holidays. January 6: School re-opens.
Rackard League - Medals for the Rackard League and Mini Sevens will be presented on December 19. We will post arrangements on the school website as soon as they are finalised.
Parents' association - Please support the annual PA Christmas Raffle, which will be held on the night of the final show. Raffle cards are enclosed with this newsletter. Please return on or before December 18.
School Building - Building work on the new classroom and two new SET rooms will commence on January 6 the current fourth class prefab has been donated to Killurin Rowing Club. Between Christmas and summer, second class and third class will be in Room 11 (the present third class room) which will be divided in two and fourth class will go to room one (the present second class room). Apologies for the inconvenience. It is envisaged that all work will be completed before the end of August.
Split-the-pot - Congratulations to Mary Dunbar, who won €143 in the latest split-the-pot. The next draw will take place during the concert on December 17.
Hard luck to our minor camogie team beaten by St Martin's in championship recently. This brings all camogie activity on the field to a close for 2019.
Santa at the Clubhouse
Santa is coming to Glynn-Barntown GAA Clubhouse on Sunday, December 15, 4.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Complimentary mince pies, tea, coffee, mulled wine, face painting, colouring competition, raffle, festive music and an opportunity to wish your neighbours a Merry Christmas. €10 per child max €25 per family. u1s free.
The GAA AGM took place recently and we wish the new club executive committee for the coming season well in their endeavours. We are also delighted to welcome Ena Kehoe to the role of club president. Ena has been a long and loyal supporter of our club and is well deserving of the role.
New club lotto
The first draw of our new club lotto took place on Wednesday, December 4, Numbers drawn - 6, 24, 28, 32.
There was no jackpot winner but three match-three winners - Barbara Riordan, John Wickham and Michael Ryan. Next draw will be in Marty's on Wednesday, December 11. The jackpot is now €2,200
An invitation will go to each child in the parish to bring the figure of the baby Jesus from their crib to weekend Masses to have Him blessed before Christmas. An olive wood Christmas tree decoration - which was blessed by Fr Carroll at Mass in Bethlehem recently - will be given to each child at the Mass.
Festive gatherings are planned for both Glynn and Barntown after the 10 a.m. and 11.15 a.m. Masses on the day (December 15). Parents and grandparents are invited to begin discussion of the celebration with their children and grandchildren.
