There will be a public meeting for all organisations and the community of Ballymurn regarding the proposed renovations to Ballymurn Community Hall on Thursday, February 28, at 7.30 p.m. in the club room of the hall. We have, unfortunately a serious environmental issue, in that the roof of the hall has asbestos slates which are leaking and need to be replaced. This work is vital in the long term preservation of the building and to continue the activities which take place here long into the future. An application for funding has commenced with Wexford Local Development for these works. Your attendance would be greatly appreciated.

GAA club notes
After last year's excitement, the minor hurlers will hope to go all the way this year. We have been placed in Roinn One in both football and hurling. The draw is as follows. Hurling Roinn One North, Buffers Alley, Rapparees, Blackwater, Craanford, Askamore, Ferns, Ballinastragh Gaels, Cloney Gaels (Davidstown/Shamrocks). Football Roinn One North Ferns, Blackwater, Starlights, Castletown, Buffers Alley, Cloney Gaels, Kilrush and Ballyhogue. The first game is this Sunday away to Ferns in Ferns at 10.30.
The intermediate hurlers play round two of the Leinster League this Saturday at 2 p.m. at home v Eire Óg Chorra Coill from Kildare.
Huge congratulations to Darren Byrne, who was awarded man of the match v Tipperary recently when playing with the Wexford seniors in the league.
2019 club membership is due before March 31. Player €150, player and partner €160, student €70, non-player €60 and non-player and partner €70.
We are still on the lookout for any old memorabilia in the parish? We would love to photograph any old medal especially one of the 1899 or 1901 Leinster or all-Ireland final medals, there must be one floating around the parish? Even any old jerseys.

St Patrick's Weekend Run/Walk
Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host a 10k run and 5k walk on bank holiday Monday, March 18. The event will begin at 11 a.m., with registration taking place from 10 a.m. onwards. Entry fee is €5 for the 5k walk and €10 for the 10k run. Both events are open to all ages and abilities. The 10k race will be chip timed and there will be prizes for the first man and woman home. Refreshments will be served to all participants in the hall afterwards. Everyone is invited to come along and get involved in what promises to be a great community event.

The annual Galbally Tractor Run will take place on Sunday, May 26.

Development of Playground
There will be a meeting held in Oylegate Community Centre on Thursday, February 28, at 8.30 p.m. This is for the development of a playground for the village. All members of the community are invited to attend.

GAA Walking Track
The top track will be fully lit every Mon/Weds/Friday evening from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. for anyone who wishes to avail of the facility to get fit and healthy for 2019. Everybody welcome. Unfortunately for health and safety reasons guide dogs only are allowed.
Local Link Wexford
Local Link Wexford provides secure, reliable and affordable transport for the rural communities of County Wexford. Services are open to everyone and all ages. The services will accommodate those attending appointments, shopping etc. Where possible they will collect passengers from their homes. An information booklet together with timetable is available at the back of the church.

Ballagh Boxing Club
Congratulations to James Cullen, Ryan Cullen and Aaron Kirwan-Doyle, who won Gold in the recent Co. Championships and to JP Fielding, who won a Silver Medal. Hard Luck on Evan Murphy, who had to pull out due to illness. The boys are now preparing for the Leinster Championships in a few weeks.
Wexford GAA are offering 21 part-funded scholarships to Coláiste Laighean, New Ross in the summer of 2019.The scheme is based on the player's family, the player's club and Wexford GAA paying one-third each of the cost of the two - week residential course. Applicants apply to their local GAA Club and will be included in a draw to determine who wins the scholarship. The cost to the student's family is only €160.
The dates of the Courses are as follows: June 23 to July 7 (Cúrsa C for second year-5th Year), July 12 to July 26 (Cúrsa D for sixth class-2nd Year). Each club may nominate two names.
Parents/guardians of Oulart-The Ballagh GAA and camogie players who would like their child to be entered for the draw are asked to contact Oulart-The Ballagh, Oifigeach Gaeilge and Cultúr, Breda Jacob (086 1686978) no later than March 4. So far, three names have been submitted locally and more are expected, so a supervised draw will be held to determine which two names will be submitted to Wexford GAA. And then the successful applicants will be notified. There is still time to indicate your interest in the scheme, just remember the above deadline.
Joan's Charity Night
Joan Kavanagh and friends will hold a Charity Night in aid of the Cardiac Unit, Wexford Hospital, in Oulart Hill Bar on Saturday, March 2. Music will be provided by the brilliant 'Unhinged'. Family Fun table quiz
Oulart Scout Group will hold a Family Fun table quiz in Oulart Hill Bar from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. There will be great prizes on offer. A Table of Four will cost only €20.
The Oulart-The Ballagh Unit of Community First Responders is live, seven nights a week and all day at weekends, assisting the National Ambulance Service, on a totally voluntary basis. Anyone interested in joining the group is asked to contact Vickie (087 7780749) or Ger (086 1578484).
Community Text Alert
The AGM of Oulart Text Alert will take place on Wednesday, March 13, in the Legion of Mary Hall (situated just below and on the same side as St Patrick's Church), in Oulart Village. A vacancy exists for chairperson of the group.
