Ballymurn: Congratulations - Congratulations to all the students on their Leaving Cert results and their college offers.
The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association will hold its annual pilgrimage in Our Lady's Island on Monday, September 2. Mass will be preceded by procession around the Island starting at 7.15.
The local link have a service from Ballymurn to Wexford on Wednesday mornings leaving Ballymurn at 10.05 a.m. and departs Wexford town at 13.30.
GAA Club lotto

Well Done Ciara
Congratulations to Ciara Carley from Ballymurn on winning a Leinster title, an all-Ireland title and winning a silver medal int he clay pigeon World Championship.
Ciara hopes to secure her place on the Irish National squad for the 2020 world championships in England.

The active retirement groupr are planning a 4-night (five day) trip to Youghal on September 30. The cost for the trip is €290. A deposit of €90 is needed as soon as possible to secure your place.
Fixtures for the week: Tonight (Tuesday) under-13 Hurling Division 3 Quarter Final v St Anne's at 6.45 in Rathangan. Wednesday under-20 Premier Hurling Prem Round v Na Fianna, home at 6.45. Saturday Junior football championship last round v Starlights at 3.30, Oylegate.
The junior footballers enjoyed a good win 2-9 to 1-9 victory over Shelmaliers in the championship. Kerill Sutton and Tomás Murphy with the goals. That sees them through to the quarter finals for the first time in three years.
Unfortunately the intermediate hurlers were defeated by Askamore by two points in the championship.
This week 25 years ago, the junior hurlers got a walkover against Tara Rocks in their last game to see them through to the Quarter Final.
Bingo continues on Wednesday nights in O'Briens. Holy Family School would like to thank O'Briens for their continued support. A €1 donation from every bingo book sold on the night for the next six weeks will go to the school. Please support this. And have a fun night out in your local.

Over the Water
The committee of the 79th Castlebridge horticultural and agricultural show would like to extend their thanks to the many participants who entered in this year's show and to everyone who came along to the show, which was held on Sunday week last a great success. They would like to take this opportunity to thank all the judges, the generous sponsors and all the dedicated volunteers who helped out on the day. Your help and work makes the show a great success every year. The committee look forward to seeing everyone next year for they will be celebrating their 80th event.
Results of the Curracloe United Development lotto draw for Sunday, August 11: the numbers drawn were 1, 2, 22 and 25. There was no jackpot winner and two match-three winners who each received €75, Owen Murphy, Blackwater and Carina Doyle, Barnahask. Curracloe.
The annual patron to Curracloe cemetery will take place on Sunday, September 1, at 1.30 p.m. It will be followed by the usual field day. There will be loads of bargains to be had on the well stocked produce and cake stall, fresh fruit and vegetable and the bottle stall. Screen Patron will take place on Sunday, September 15, at 1.30 p.m. and will be followed by similar bargains and stalls and these will be held in Screen school. The organising committees wish to thank parishioners for their continued work and attention to both cemeteries throughout the year.
The Screen/Curracloe parish council would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the winners of the summer split-the-pot to date and thank everyone for their support. This year's draw has been most successful. Draws take place every Friday night, the last being on Friday, September 6, after which it will revert to St Margaret's National School.

There have been a number of house break-ins in the Oylegate area over the past few weeks, two just this week. Parishioners are being asked to be extra vigilant for anything unusual e.g. strange cars, strangers calling to houses with unusual requests. Anything unusual should be reported to the Gardaí. There is a Community Text which covers the Oylegate and Glenbrien areas. Notification texts with details of any unusual activity/behaviour in the Parishes are sent out to parishioners, whose number is on the text list. If you are not a member of this Community Text and would like to have your number included please contact Eamonn Mernagh.

Bingo In Mernaghs
The bingo in Mernaghs is now being run to raise much needed funds for the local Tidy Towns, bingo commences at 9.15 on a Thursday night and all support for this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.
A Greyhound Night in aid of the Ballagh Boxing Club, will take place at the Enniscorthy Dog Track on Monday, August 26. The first race will begin at 8 p.m. Admission is €10 and children are free.
Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club are organising a 'Clothes for Cash Collection' on August 26 and they are hoping that the local community will assist them by donating clean used clothes. Men's, women's and children's clothing, Paired shoes, handbags, belts, small quantities of curtains, towels, sheets, blankets and soft toys are all acceptable.
To help with this fundraiser you are asked to drop off bags of clothes at the Upper Complex in Oulart on Saturday the 24th between 7.15 p.m. and 8.15 p.m. and on Sunday, August 25, 7.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. so that all bags will be ready for collection on Monday morning. For further information please contact any member of the camogie committee.

Oulart-The Ballagh under-20 hurlers will travel to Bree on Wednesday, August 21, to play Ballyhogue in the Enniscorthy District Roinn one semi-final. Throw-in is at 6.45 p.m. Best of luck to the players and management.

Kathleen Laffan, Clone West (Y25 X2 86) will host Afternoon Tea in her home on Saturday, August 24, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. so as to raise funds for 'Brighter Communities Worldwide-Kenya' where she is going as a volunteer. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Mike Denver in Concert
Oulart-The Ballagh GAA will present the ever-popular Mike Denver in concert at the Amber Springs Hotel, Gorey on Thursday, August 22. Doors will open at 7.30 p.m. and the concert will commence at 8.30 p.m. Tickets are priced at €20 and are available from players and committee and at the door on the night. This promises to be a superb event.
Heritage Week will take place from August 17 to August 25, and with 2,000 events taking place throughout the country, there is undoubtedly an event for everyone. Two local walks have been organised for Heritage Week.
On Saturday, August 24, The Unyoke Walk will start at the Trading Post Caravan and Camping Park at 10 a.m. and follow the 11km, moderate grade walk, to Oulart Hill. Walkers will be returned by car to the starting point.
On the following day, Sunday, August 25, the Jean Kennedy Smith Walk, from Oulart Village to Oulart Hill will be held, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The walkers will be guided to the main monuments of Oulart - St Mochua's 1798 Chapel, the McGawley Memorial, the 1898 Monument, Mise Éire, Bygone Days Story House, the tree of Liberty and Tulach a' tSolais All are welcome and encouraged to participate.
