Ballymurn: Table quiz - Crossabeg-Ballymurn LGFC are having a table quiz on Friday, October 25, at 9pm in Mernagh's of Oylegate. So come along and exercise those brain cells.

Silver Circle Bonanza Draw

We are very excited to announce the Silver Circle Bonanza Draw on Friday, October 18, at 8 p.m. - all are invited to a community social night, admission free, join the Silver Circle Members for the grand prize draw of €10,000.

5k Fun Run/Walk

Dynamic Kickboxing Academy are organising a 5k fun run/walk in Ballymurn on October 20. starting at midday This fundraiser is to help fund five of their teenagers to represent Ireland in the world kickboxing championships in New York in November.

Couch to 5K

Don't forget every Wednesday evening in Olygate GAA pitch at 7.15 p.m. Beginners running group and walkers group. Everyone welcome.

Fashion Show

A Fashion Show takes place in the Riverside Park Hotel on this Wednesday, October 16, in aid of Bree Community Playground. Enniscorthy based shops 'Glamour' and 'Ottiva' are supplying the fashion, 'Perfection by Mon' the make-up and Liam Sharkey is MC for the night. Tickets at €10 are now on sale in Garry Byrnes and from any Committee Member.

Bree Active Retirement

The next social afternoon of Bree Active Retirement will be held in Bree Community Centre tomorrow, Wednesday, October 16, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Christmas Lunch will be held in the Riverside Park Hotel on Thursday, December 19, Further details form 086 0747823. The Wexford County Bowls League is currently in progress and we wish out own team a good campaign.

Community Games

Bree-Davidstown Cloughbawn Community Games will hold their annual church gate collection after all Masses on Saturday, 19th and Sunday, October 20. Your support would be appreciated.

Scoil Mhuire NS Ballyhogue

The school is holding a clothing collection on Wednesday, October 23. Donations of all clothing types, paired shoes, belts, curtains, bed linens, towels and stuffed animals are accepted and should be dropped off at the school before 9 a.m. on 23rd. Thank you for your support.

Galbally table quiz

Galbally Sports and Leisure Club table quiz will take place in the Sycamore House, Killurin (Declan's) on Friday, October 25, at 9 p.m. Table of four €25. Cash prizes and raffle on the night.

Bree Parish Journal

Preparations are under way for this year's edition of Bree Parish Journal. All clubs and organisations in the parish are asked to have a report of their activities over the past two years ready by the end of Oct. The committee is also looking for photographs particularly of groups of people from times past as well as items suitable for publication pertaining to places or people of the area including notable family celebrations. Bree United

Bree United Soccer Club would like to thank Sports Active, Wexford for their grant towards upskilling the coaches of the different teams fielded by Bree United.

Indoor Athletics

Indoor Athletic Training has resumed in Bree Community Centre on Thursdays at 7 p.m. for five- to 11-year-olds and from 7.45 p.m. to 9 p.m. for Bree Athletic Club members. Cost is €2 per child to max of €5 per family. Well done to all athletes who competed in the Co Cross Country Finals recently. Medal winners were under-10 Shane Laffan first, under-12 girls Lea Bolger ninth, under-12 boys PJ Breen fourth and under-14 Jarleth Kelly eighth.

Table quiz

A table quiz in aid of St John's Clonmore will be held in Enniscorthy Rugby Club at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 25.

The quiz will start at 8 p.m. All support appreciated.

Bree Bingo

Bingo continues Tuesdays at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. No winner in our jackpot last week so it goes up to €350. Books are €10 on the night and €2 bonus sheets are available.

Oylegate NS are having a black bag collection of clothes, shoes, belts, bags, etc. on October 21 please leave in school porch that morning between 8 and 9.30.

Crossabeg-Ballymurn LGFC are having a table quiz on Friday, October 25, at 9 p.m. in Mernagh's lounge, Oylegate. So come along and exercise those brain cells and support the ladies.

Deepest Sympathy

Oylegate community was saddened to hear of the death of Eileen O'Brien, Tincoon Oylegate on Tuesday, October 8. Her remains were removed to St David's Church Oylegate on Thursday morning for funeral Mass at 11 a.m., with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Deepest sympathy is extended to her husband, son, daughters, grandchildren, in laws, sister, brothers other relatives and friends. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Craft Fair 2019

The annual Oylegate-Glenbrien craft fair will be held in Oylegate Community Centre on Sunday, November 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tables €20 each. Exhibitors from Oylegate and Glenbrien parish will be given first preference. A certain number of tables will be assigned for TY students Mini-Companies and again first pref-erence will be given to students from Oylegate and Glenbrien. Bookings will be taken from mid-October.

Walking Track

The lights will be on at the walking track at the GAA Grounds every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the facility is available to all in the community, so come along and stay fit over the winter months. The couch to 5k group meet Wednesday evenings. All welcome to take part.

Baby and Toddler Group

Baby and Toddler Group gathering every Tuesday (Term-Time) in Glenbrien Old School Centre from 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. This is an opportunity for young children and their carers (parents/grandparents/childminders) to meet. Bingo In Mernaghs

The bingo in Mernaghs is now being run to raise much needed funds for the local Tidy Towns, bingo commences at 9.15 on a Thursday night and all support for this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.

Local Link Wexford

Local Link Wexford provides secure, reliable and affordable transport for the rural communities of County Wexford. Services are open to everyone and all ages. The services will accommodate those attending appointments, shopping etc. Where possible they will collect passengers from their homes. An information booklet together with timetable is available at the back of the church.

Senior camogie

Oulart-The Ballagh senior camogie team contested the Co. Championship Final against St Martin's in torrential rain on Saturday, October 5, in Bellefield and despite the atrocious weather, both teams played some really good camogie, with the rivals finishing level at the final whistle.

The replay will take place at the same venue on Sunday, October 13, and the result will be in the sports pages of this paper on Tuesday the 15th.

Under-14 camogie

Congratulations to the under-14 camogie team on winning the 12-a-side Shield Final by deteating Rapparees on a score-line of six goals eight points to two goals two points. Thank you and well done to the hard-working team mentors Nicola Doyle, Niamh Sinnott, Ger Martin and Lisa Kenny, who put in so much work with the team throughout the year. The after-match celebrations were greatly enjoyed by the youngsters.

Camogie Fundraiser

Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club is hosting a 'Look Good-Feel Good' Day on Sunday, November 24, in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be various demonstrations and a Fashion Show throughout the afternoon as well as numerous stands and artisan foods on display around the room. Anyone wishing to take a stand should contact Kathryn at 087 2538105 as soon as possible.

Under-15 hurling

Our under-15 boys will play the semi-final of the Roinn one championship, versus Cloughbawn, on Saturday, September 19, in St Patrick's Park, beginning at 11 a.m. Best of luck to the players and mentors. Supporters are encouraged to provide lots of vocal support.

Nursery Training/under-7 boys

The Nursery Training and under-seven boys training finished on Saturday, October 5, with lots of fun and games. The children were presented with Certificates by Shauna Sinnott and Rory Jacob.

Míle buíochas to Eileen Codd for co-ordinating the Nursery all summer. She did a brilliant job organising the rota and pitch preparations every Saturday morning and our GPO, Neill McCrea is thanked for his input too. Sincere thanks also to Annette Redmond and mentors Paddy Martin, Brendan Wickham and Gavin for their work with the under-seven boys.

Martin Storey Tournament

This under-14 hurling Tournament has been a great success in the past and this year promises to continue the trend. The first matches will be played this Sunday, October 20, when Oulart-The Ballagh are at home to St Martin's at 11 a.m. Why not attend and see for yourselves the talented up-and-coming hurlers that are in our club?

GAA lotto

The lotto draw takes place every two weeks and the Prize-fund has reached €14,600. All money from the lotto go to the upkeep and maintenance of the club. Tickets are available from club members and local businesses. Tickets cost a mere two euro each and there are five Luck Dip prizes of €30 to be won in each fortnightly draw. We would appeal to everyone to support the lotto.

Healthy Club Status

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club is one of 84 GAA Clubs, across the 32 counties who completed Phase three of the 'Healthy Clubs' Project and were recognised as an Official GAA Healthy Club at the National Healthy Club Conference in Croke Park on October 5. Our club is one of 16 clubs nationwide who have successfully implemented a smoke-free policy.

This and many other initiatives were introduced and promoted by our health and Well-being officer, Breda Flood, who deserves the highest praise for her diligence, enthusiasm and hard work in this important area. She along with fellow - activist Catherine Murphy attended the awards ceremony in Croke Park.
