Ballymurn: Ladies' Football - Crossabeg-Ballymurn Ladies' Gaelic Football Club are organising an Easter Football Camp from April 15 to April 18 in Ballymurn Pitch. Two groups will be catered for 5-7-year-olds and 8-12-year-olds. For more information please contact Amanda at 086 2007418.

GAA lotto results

Knitter Knatters

Ballymurn knitter knatters meet every Wednesday in the club room of Ballymurn hall. New members are always welcome.

Bingo

Bingo is played every Monday night in the Anvil pub Ballymurn, starting at 9 p.m.

Adult Dance Fitness Classes

Learn basic Latin American and Ballroom dance moves including samba, cha-cha, quickstep and jive while getting fit and having fun.

A new six-week course commenced on Thursday, March 14, at 7.30 p.m. in the old school centre Glenbrien, €8 per class contact Charlene at 087 9668411.

Community Hall Development

There was another good turnout at last week's meeting. A survey is being sent out to all houses in the parish and we would be very grateful if every household could complete them and return them to the school or to the local shop. Surveys are to be returned by April 1. We have got the go ahead to precede to the grant application stage so we need to know what the community is looking for. Next public meeting is on Monday, April 8.

Bree-Galbally

All-Ireland Champions

Well done to the Bree debating team of Niall Doyle, Sinéad Doyle, Johanna Wickham and Áine Doyle, who won the national final of the Macra Debating competition recently in Mallow when they beat Donoughmore from Cork. Team coaches were PJ Darcy, James Byrne and Peter Byrne. This was the first time since 1986 for Bree to win the competition when James and Peter were part of the team and PJ was again the coach.

Sports/Leisure Club AGM

Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will hold its AGM on Friday next, March 22, at 8 p.m. in Galbally Hall. All members of the community are invited to attend and to get involved in the rejuvenation of our community centre.

Bree Active Retirement

The March social of Bree Active Retirement Association takes place in Bree Community Centre on this Wednesday the 20th. There will be the usual activities from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Enquiries to 086 0747823.

Bree ICA

The next guild meeting of Bree ICA will be held in Bree Community Centre this Tuesday, March 19, at 8 p.m. Anyone wishing to join our guild please come along on Tuesday night.

Daffodil Day

Daffodil Day will take place on Friday next, March 22, and the local Enniscorthy committee is calling for public support in advance of the day. We are asking the local community to come out and support us as you have done over the last number of years. We also need your help in providing fresh daffodils for our big fundraising day. Please drop your daffodils to the Legion of Mary Hall, Enniscorthy on Thursday evening, March 21, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Galbally Litter Pick

A village litter pick will take place next Sunday, March 24, at 2 p.m. Members of the community are encouraged to take part and help to clean up the village and surrounding areas. All equipment will be provided.

Car boot sale

Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host an indoor and outdoor market/car boot sale on Easter Monday, April 22, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. €15 per stall/pitch. For enquiries and bookings contact Dawn at 087 8306206.

Community Games

Well done to the Bree-Davidstown team of Oisin Harte, Nathan Doyle, George Murphy, Matthew Jordan, Fergal Doyle, Luke Doyle and Mark Smith, who finished third in the county final of the under-13 Community Games Chess competition last Thursday night in Piercestown. Martin Humphrey was their coach.

County Final dates are as follows: Gymnastics March 24; Quiz is April 10; Swimming April 17 and Talent April 25. For info on all Community Games activities see the national Community Games website or contact area secretary Clare Doyle 087 4151350.

Both Handball and Pitch and Putt competitions have changed format and both are now individual events.

Radio presenter retires

After almost 30 years Cecil Riddal will present his last Sounds for Sunday programme on March 31, Mothers' Day. All in the Christian Media Trust are indebted to Cecil for his work and dedication over so many years. He was an important part of Sunday morning for many listeners to South East Radio and they will miss him very much. The Christian Media Trust now has the difficult task of building on Cecil's good work. It is looking for a new presenter for Sounds for Sunday, a fifty-six-minute programme from 9.04 a.m. to 10 a.m. each Sunday Morning. GAA news

The best of luck is extended to the junior hurlers when they play Cushinstown in Oylegate pitch on this Saturday, March 23, at 5 p.m.

GAA Syndicate: The final draw for the first year of syndicate will be on March 27. Thank you for your support and we hope you will continue with the draw for year two.Your collector will be calling in the next couple of weeks and we will hold an information/rejoining evening in the community centre on Saturday, April 6, at 7.30 p.m. Developments at our grounds continue thanks to your generosity.

Walking Track

The top track will be fully lit every Mon/Weds/Friday evening from 7.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. for anyone who wishes to avail of the facility to get fit and healthy for 2019. Everybody welcome. Unfortunately for health and safety reasons guide dogs only are allowed.

The Ballagh

Defibrillator

The Ballagh Community Centre obtained a grant of €3,000 to buy a defibrillator for the area. It has been erected on the Parochial House. The number for the code on the box can be obtained from Ger Dempsey (086 1478484) or Pauline Davitt (087 6864594).Training in how to use the defibrillator will be available shortly, in the community centre.

Ballaghkeene NS

The Green School Committee of Ballaghkeene NS have entered the SEAI 'One Good Idea' competition. Their idea is to reduce the use of disposable plastic and paper cups and begin using re-usable cups in an effort to save our environment. The members of the 'Cup Crew' in Ballaghkeene National School are trying to raise awareness around the parish through posters, newsletters, videos/photos on - line.

Their motto is 'Chuck the Cup'. They have successfully made it through to Round Two (one of only 40 schools) and are hoping to go all the way and win the competition. So - Please pay heed to their campaign and Chuck the Cup.

Split-the-pot

Congratulations to the recent winners of the Ballagh split-the-pot-Feidhlim Roche (€66), Orla Mongan (€74) and Val Brooks (€55). Thank you for your continued support. It costs just €2 to play and entry envelopes are available from local businesses.

GAA/Camogie Registration

Parents/Guardians of underage GAA and camogie players are reminded that ALL players must be registered for training and playing matches and that the deadline to enter competitions and to register teams is fast approaching. Rackard League

The primary schools in the parish are doing well in the Rackard League competitions, in hurling and camogie. The schools' hurlers defeated Rathnure, on Wednesday, March 13, on a score-line of 6-9 to 4-2. Their next match is away to Bunclody on Wednesday, March 20, at 2 p.m. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

The parish schools' camogie team defeated Marshalstown on Tuesday, March 12, and are away to Davidstown on Wednesday, 20th Best of luck to all the teams and their mentors.

Mini-Sevens

The boys from the Ballagh National School have qualified for the semi-finals of the Rackard League Mini-Sevens, to be played March 22 On their way to the semi-finals they defeated Bree, St Aidan's (Enniscorthy), Oulart and Monageer.

Senior Hurling

Oulart-The Ballagh seniors are at home to Ferns St Aidan's, in Round one of the league, on Tuesday, March 19, at 8 p.m.

Senior camogie

Oulart-The Ballagh senior camogie team defeated Ballyboden St Enda's in the semi-final of the Leinster League and will contest the final against Rathnure, who overcame Thomastown in the other semi-final. That all-Wexford final has been fixed for Abbotstown on Sunday, March 31.

Bingo for Irish Pilgrimage Trust

On Sunday, March 31, there will be bingo in Oulart Community Centre, in aid of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust and the local GAA the bingo will begin at 8 p.m. All funds raised for the Irish Pilgrimage Trust will go towards funding a week-long trip for nine young adults, with additional needs, from the South-East region. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
