Ballymurn: Silver Circle - The first draw of the community centre Development Silver Circle Fundraiser took place recently in Foley's of Crossabeg.

The five lucky winners of €200 each were Patrick O'Connor, Castlesow; Mark Campbell, Kilmallock; Natasha Costelloe, Kyle Upper; Mary and Jackie Kearney, Raheny and Fintan Kehoe of Enniscorthy. Congratulations to all.

The December draw will take place in The Anvil, Ballymurn on Friday, December 21. Thanks again to everyone for the tremendous support received across the community.

Bingo

Bingo is played every Monday night in the Anvil pub starting at 9 p.m.

Dates for your Diary

Ballymurn Christmas Gathering will take place on Sunday, December 2, in Ballymurn Hall. The Tara Bishop 5K Fun Run will take place on Sunday, January 27, in Ballymurn.

Youth Club

Youth club takes place every Friday night in Ballymurn Hall from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

GAA Club AGM

Crossabeg-Ballymurn GAA Club will hold their AGM this Friday, November 30, at 8 p.m. in the Forge, Crossabeg.

Christmas Craft Fair

Galbally Community Centre will host a Christmas Craft Fair next Sunday, December 2, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be a number of local crafters in attendance with numerous gift ideas. Come and enjoy the Christmas atmosphere, bring the kids to see Santa, and meet friends and neighbours while supporting your local community centre. For enquiries please call or text 087 2319219.

Bree Bingo

Bingo will now be starting at the earlier time of 8 p.m. every Tuesday night in Gary Byrnes. Jackpot this week is €450. All ages are welcome on the night.

Sports/Leisure Club Anniversary

The committee of Galbally Sports and Leisure Club would like to invite you to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the opening of the hall on December 8 in the Sports and Leisure Club. Entertainment starts at 9 p.m. and includes music, dancing, and storytelling with instrumental pieces and ballads. Licensed Bar on night. Free entry. Strictly over-18s only.

Draughts/Chess classes

Draughts and Chess take place on Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. in Galbally Hall. Classes are from seven to 15 years. Cost is €2 per child and €4 per family. Galbally Hall Refurbishment

The committee of Galbally Sports and Leisure Club have recently secured a grant under the town and Village Renewal Scheme amounting to €100,000 to refurbish the hall and grounds. Members of the community are invited to an EGM on Sunday, December 9, at 5 p.m. to bring new members to the committee to become involved in the refurbishment and development of Galbally Hall.

Book Launch

'Where the Boro Waters Flow' by Damian Cullen will be launched in the Cloch Bán, Clonroche on Thursday, December 13, at 8.30 p.m. This book is combination of history and poetry largely relating to the Boro River.

The poems are mostly written in the 1930s and 40s by poets who lived near the Boro and preserve history and folklore in their verses. Historic ruins of mills and mansions, ancient churches, bridges and river crossings are all included along with some interesting stories about some of Boro's noted people. Light refreshments will be served.

Social dancing

The next date for social dancing in Oylegate Community Centre is Sunday, December 9. Music on the night is by Michelle Murphy. Since breaking into the social dancing scene Michelle has become very popular in venues throughout the length and breath of Ireland with three beautiful recordings to her name which have been shown on Ireland West TV recently. We welcome her home to Oylegate and look forward to a great night's entertainment. Dancing from 9.30 p.m. Admission €8.

The best of luck to the junior B hurlers in the semi-finals V Graigue Ballycallan of Kilkenny. The game will again be hosted by the Killeedy club in Limerick on December 2 at 2 p.m. Best of luck to the team and mentors. A bus is going up to the match and if you want to travel contact any committee member.

Senior citizens party

This year's Christmas party for senior citizens will take place on Sunday, December 16, in the Old School Centre at the moment there are committee member going round distributing invitations please contact the parish office or any member of the group if you have not received an invitatiion over the next two weeks and we will get one to you.

Coffee morning

A coffee morning in aid of the SERT Bus and the Hope Centre will be held on this Thursday Morning, November 29, in Mernagh's Lounge Oylegate. All support would be greatly appreciated.

Bingo continues in the Slaney Inn on Sunday nights at 8 p.m. with many cash prizes on offer. Oylegate United are the local charity currently benefiting on the night and would like to invite all interested to come along for a great night, and all support would be greatly appreciated.

Local Link Wexford

Local Link Wexford provides secure, reliable and affordable transport for the rural communities of County Wexford. Services are open to everyone and all ages. The services will accommodate those attending appointments, shopping etc. Where possible they will collect passengers from their homes. An information booklet together with timetable is available at the back of the church.

Please note Mass times in Oylegate Saturday vigil Mass is at 6.30 p.m. Sunday morning Mass is at 10.30 a.m.

Boxing Club

Training resumes in the Ballagh on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. for underage boxers and beginners.

Race to be Mayor

The GAA Mayoral Election Campaign is well under way and the next few weeks will see lots of fundraising activities organised for the candidates. On December 1 Martin 'Sponger' Fortune's team will hold 'Come Dine with me' in the Ballagh Community Centre while on second, December 9 and 16 Phil's team will hold bingo.

As this year is the 25th Anniversary of Oulart-The Ballagh winning their first Senior Hurling Title (1994) Phil's team will launch a Souvenir Calendar in Oulart Community Centre on Saturday, December 15. And if you want to buy a real Christmas Tree to support Sponger's Mayoral campaign, please place your order with Declan at 087 3456523.

The two candidates' teams also have raffle tickets circulating, with valuable prizes on offer. We would encourage as many as possible to support the events as all the proceeds go to Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club. Please follow the Facebook page for more details.

CFR info evening

The Oulart-The Ballagh Unit of Community First Responders is live, seven nights a week and all day at weekends, assisting the National Ambulance Service, on a totally voluntary basis.

Anyone interested in being part of the CFR group should note that an Information evening will be held in the Ballagh Community Centre on Wednesday, December 5, at 8.30 p.m. For queries please contact Vickie (087 7780749) or Ger (086 1578484).

Collection thanks

The Wexford Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland would like to thank everyone who contributed so generously to the recent collection in the Ballagh. €324 was collected and has been banked and will stay in the branch to be used to benefit all the children and adults in the branch. Thanks to the collectors for their time and help.

Book Fair

Thank you to everyone who supported the recent Book Fair in the Ballagh school. As always the books were hugely popular and the school earned over €800 worth of free books from the book sales. Thank you to the parents who volunteered each day and helped to make it such a success. There will be plenty of reading materials for the winter months ahead.

GAA club AGM

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA will hold its annual general meeting this Friday, November 30, in Oulart Community Centre. Registration will be from 7 p.m. and the formalities will begin at 7.30 p.m. New members, male and female, are always welcome to join our GAA club and, where better to start than at the AGM where we review the past year, elect officers, committee and team managements and make plans for 2019.

Former players and older members who have let their membership lapse are encouraged to become involved again.

Tractor Road Run

On Sunday, December 2, a Tractor Road-Run in aid of Oulart senior citizens Christmas party, will start at the 1978 Monument, opposite O'Leary's Oulart Hill Bar, at midday. For further information please contact Seán Byrne at 087 6486279.
