Ballymurn: Irish Night - Why not come along to the Anvil Pub Ballymurn on Friday, July 26, and join in a night of music, song and dance at our Irish night. Everyone welcome.

Bingo

Bingo is played every Monday night in the Anvil Pub Ballymurn starting at 9 p.m.

Ballymurn Patron

The Ballymurn Patron will take place on Sunday, August 18.

Hot Rod Club

Ballymurn hot rod club are running a fundraiser on Sunday, July 14, in aid of Ballymurn hall development. Your support would be greatly appreciated. The races start at midnight to 5 p.m. Admission is €5 under-12s free. Refreshments available.

Bree-Galbally

Edermine Regatta

Edermine Ferry Rowing Club will host their home Regatta on the evenings of Saturday and Sunday, July 13, and 14, on the River Slaney at the base of the Marmion Bridge, Edermine. Twenty three race finals along with qualifying heats are sure to make for some exciting Slaney Cot racing in both junior and adult categories.

Approximate start time for both days is 4 p.m., tide depending. We look forward to welcoming competitors from the Slaney Rowing Association Clubs as well as spectators to this annual event. Check out our Facebook page for more details closer to the event.

Ballyhogue Ladies' Football

Congratulations to the under-14 girls on reaching the Division 7 all-Ireland semi-final in the Féile competition in Connacht. The girls had a fantastic weekend playing five games in total over the three days. They played St Mary's of Galway, London and Monavea in the group stage and then had a fantastic win over Ballyfin of Laois in the quarter final. Though they battled to the end they lost out to Rathcoffey from Kildare on a scoreline of 3.5 to 0.2 in the semi-final.

Active Retirement Outing

An outing has been arranged for Bree ARA on Wednesday, July 17, to Tintern Abbey. Afterwards we will follow the coast road to Kilmore Quay. Bus leaving Bree Community Centre at 10 a.m. and returning at approximately 6 p.m. Enquiries to 086 0747823.

Bree Playground

As we now approach the middle of summer the playground is in full use. All of the children are having great fun, making lots of magical memories. The committee request that your children remove their football boots while playing in the playground, as damage has occurred on both slides due to boots.

All adults are asked to park in designated areas to maintain a clear view for motorists on the driveway and to avoid children being knocked down. As part of the Country Development Plan we are all asked to 'leave no trace', so please bring your litter home.

Celtic Roots 'Full Irish'

A full Irish show in association with Celtic Roots will begin in Bree Hall on Tuesday, July 2. Tea and scones are served at half eight and the night's entertainment begins at 9 p.m. with music, song, dance and storytelling. Admission is 10 for adults with concessions for children and groups. Representing Ireland

Following on from his Tailteann Games win, Darra Casey will represent Ireland in the SIAB Games against athletes from England, Wales and Scotland in Swansea on July 20 Best of luck to Darra and best of luck also to him and other Bree AC athletes competing in the national finals this weekend. Congratulations to PJ Breen and to Jayden Kenny, who won silver medals in the National under-11 Pairs Long Jump recently.

Community Games

Well done to all the athletes who competed in the Co Community Games Athletic Finals in Enniscorthy Hub recently. Five individuals and five relays will represent the local area in the nationals in Limerick in August. Gold medal winners were Ava Wilson (under-10 Hurdles), PJ Breen under-10 200m), Jayden Kenny (under-12 100m), Abbie Doyle (under-14 100m) and Leah Nolan (under-16 100m).

Relays winners were under-10 Mixed Hazel Breen, Ava Wilson, PJ Breen, Billy Doyle and subs Ruth Hassey and Sam Devereux. Under-12 girls Emma Deegan, Pheena Quigley, Keira Wilson, Maura Doyle and sub Cora Finn: under-12 boys James Wall, Jack Doyle, Cathal Ennis, Tom Finn and sub Charlie Kehoe; under-13 Mixed Abbie Doyle, Gracie Kehoe, Jayden Kenny, Conor McHugh and subs Ella Doyle and Harry Devereux: under-16 girls Donna Delahunty, Leah Nolan, Lucy Kehoe, Jessica Blyth and subs Jessica Wickham and Anna Jevins.

Silver medal winner was Bill Furlong (under-eight 60m) and bronze medal winners were Ruairi Swan (under-10 Hurdles), Cathal Ennis (under-12 600m), James Breen (under-12 Long Puck) and Oisin Rochford (under-14 100m).

Bree Vintage Club

Bree Vintage Club will host a tractor run on July 21 This year's run will be in aid of Relay for Life, Wexford. Registration begins from 11.30 a.m. with the run leaving at 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend and support.

Barndance

Reserve Saturday, August 24, for the annual Barndance in Byrne's of Bree Grainstore with 'The Kilkennys', followed by DJ till late. Enjoy a good night out. Tickets are now available on 'Eventbrite Bree Barndance 2019' at reduced rate of €15 for a limited period

Social dancing

The next date for social dancing in Oylegate Community Centre, is Sunday, July 14. Music on the night is by the hugely popular Jimmy Hogan and Lar Kenny. Dancing is from 9.30 p.m. Admission is €8. Come along for a lovely evening of music, and dance.

Bingo In Mernaghs

The bingo in Mernaghs is now being run to raise much needed funds for the Community First Responders, bingo commences at 9.15 on a Thursday night and all support for this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.

Local Link Wexford

Local Link Wexford provides secure, reliable and affordable transport for the rural communities of County Wexford. Services are open to everyone and all ages. The services will accommodate those attending appointments, shopping etc. Where possible they will collect passengers from their homes. An information booklet together with timetable is available at the back of the church.

CFR Training

The Oulart-The Ballagh Unit of Community First Responders is live, seven nights a week and all day at weekends, assisting the National Ambulance Service on a totally voluntary basis. For details of joining and training please contact Ger at 086 1578484 or Vickie at 087 77807849.

Model County Draw

Oulart-The Ballagh had two winners in the June Draw. Congratulations to Darren and Adam Nolan, who won the 12th prize of a Midlands Park Hotel Holiday Voucher valued at €250 and to Michael and Geraldine Doyle who (HJ1) won the 21st prize of a Sam McCauley Chemist Voucher valued at €250.

Joan & friends fun run

Joan Kavanagh and friends are organising a Charity Fun Run/Walk/Jog to be held on Sunday, July 14, at 4 p.m. in Oulart. It will start outside Oulart Hill Bar and the entry fee is €10 for adults and €2 for children. Proceeds will go towards the Cardiac Unit Wexford Hospital. Wexford Hurling

Oulart-The Ballagh personnel had a huge involvement in the successes of the county teams in the Leinster senior and minor finals in Croke Park on Sunday, June 30. Shaun Murphy gave a sterling display in defence for the seniors while Jim Finn was a member of the extended panel with the minors. Keith Rossiter was a selector with the senior team while David Redmond did likewise with the minors.

Rackard League

Congratulations to two Oulart-The Ballagh underage stars, Jason Rossiter and Ben Harpur, who were selected on the Wexford Rackard League team that played a Kilkenny primary-school selection in Croke Park on Leinster Final Day.

GAA Cúl Camps

Upwards to 140 youngsters enrolled in the annual GAA summer Camp that began in Oulart on July 1. The weather was ideal, the coaches were enthusiastic and the boys and girls were actively engaged for the duration. In addition, the children received fashionable gear and useful kit-bags. A second Cúl Camp will be held in Oulart in August.
