The Over the Water Vintage club are holding a Tractor and Car run on Sunday, April 14. All money raised will go to assist with alternations for disability access in the home of a local curracloe MS sufferer.

Condolences

Sincere sympathy is extended to Paddy, Tina Redmond and family, Kilmallock on the death of Tina's uncle Micheál Lambert, who was interred in Blackwater. RIP.

Also to Jim, Alice Whelan and family, Woodview on the death of Alice's brother John Shiggins, who was interred in Oylegate, RIP.

Community Hall Renovations

A survey has been sent to all houses in the parish and we hope they can be filled out and returned to the school or peters shop by April 1. Next community meeting is on April 8 at 7.30 p.m. Everyone welcome.

Ladies' Football

Crossabeg-Ballymurn Ladies' Gaelic Football Club are organising an Easter Football Camp on April 15 to April 18 in Ballymurn Pitch. Two groups will be catered for: 5-7 years and eight to 12 years. For more information please contact Amanda at 086 2007418.

A fundraising Fashion show in aid of Crossabeg community centre will be held in Hotel Curracloe on Friday, March 29, at 8 p.m. A great nights entertainment is guaranteed. Fashions from Benetton Ladies and children's, The Loft ladies fashions, Saria boutique, Corcoran's Men's wear and Dress hire, Charles Pierce men's fashions and shoes and Charley's Company ladies fashions and casual wear, and Barnardos all new wedding gowns, flower girls, graduation gowns, and communion dresses. Tickets are on sale and cost €10. Children free. Tickets can be bought on the door on the night.

Following the success of the recent Litter Pick event, a further date has been organised by the community centre Development committee. All interested in helping out are asked to meet at the community field in Garrywilliam at 9 a.m on Sunday, April 28, church gate collection.

A church gate collection in aid of Gorta Self Help Africa will be taken up on Saturday and Sunday next, March 30, and 31st at Crossabeg church. Your generous support would be appreciated.

Community Games

ART AND HANDWRITING - Congratulations and well done to all who entered both of these events for their area. There was a very large entry from most of the schools in the area, so coming in the top three in any age group is quite an achievement. Well done to Naoimi Pettitt and Conor Cloney, who will compete for the area in the Handwriting competitions at the County Finals. Congratulations also to Cristina Lowney-Loring, Kyra Jarvis, Anna Carty, Fionnan Caulfield, Sophia Murphy, Eabha Bowe and Keisha McNamee who came through in the art competitions and will also go through to the county finals. The county finals of both events will take place on Saturday, March 30, in Castlebridge national school.

STAGE EVENTS - Entries are being taken for the very popular Community Games stage events, Solo Singing, Solo Dance, Solo Music, Solo Dance, Group Singing, Group Music, Group Dance, Recitation and Drama sections. Contact Anne as soon as possible and before the end of the month. Last year we had quite a number of children participating in the county finals with a couple of them making their way to the national finals in Limerick. So hoping for a strong entry once again. Anyone wishing to enter the County Swimming finals should contact Anne stating name, address and date of birth and the event in which they wish to compete. Bingo for Irish Pilgrimage Trust.

On Sunday, March 31, there will be bingo in Oulart Community Centre, in aid of the Irish Pilgrimage Trust and the local GAA the bingo will begin at 8 p.m. All funds raised for the Irish Pilgrimage Trust will go towards funding a week-long trip to Lourdes for nine young adults, with additional needs, from the South-East region. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Phil Redmond, who was one of the candidates in the recent Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Mayoral Election would like to congratulate the winning candidate Martin 'Sponger' Fortune and his backing team and to thank everyone who played a part in the outstandingly successful campaign that was organised to raise much-needed funds for one of the finest clubs in the country.

Phil, who hurled brilliantly for the club for many years and proudly represented it on many occasions at Scór, would like to express his heartfelt thanks to Bartle Sinnott and Martin 'Sport' Dempsey and their team of fantastic workers who spear-headed his fundraising efforts over the past few months.

Yoga in Oulart

Yoga with Michelle takes place in Oulart Community Centre on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. till 11.30 a.m. and on Wednesday evenings from 7 p.m. till 8.30 p.m. You can avail of six classes for the price of five. Contact Michelle (087 9813950) for full information.

Oulart split-the-pot

The latest winner of Scoil Mochua's split-the-pot is Martina Roche, who won €125. The next draw will be held on Monday, March 25. Entry envelopes are available from local businesses as well as from the school.

New Defibrillator

Thanks to the parents' association's fundraising efforts, Scoil Mochua now has a defibrillator. It has been installed at the front of the school and can be used by any member of the community if and when a need arises.

Oulart Scouts

The 22nd Wexford Oulart Scout Group will hold a cake sale on the weekend of March 30/31, at all Masses. Donations for the cake sale would be really appreciated. Please contact Tina at 086 8849585.

GAA/Camogie Registration

Mayoral Campaign

The announcement of the mayor of Oulart-The Ballagh took place on Saturday, March 16, in Oulart Community Centre at 9 p.m. with music by the Country Outlaws and a great night was had by everyone. On behalf of the club chairman, Bartle Sinnott and the GAA Club and the two Mayoral Candidates, Phil Redmond and Martin 'Sponger' Fortune we would like to acknowledge an enormous thank you to everyone who helped in any way, organising events, taking part and supporting the Mayoral Campaign for the club. It was a phenomenal success and the total amount of money raised was €134,161.68 for the club.

We are all overwhelmed by the support that was given and the amount of money raised. The winner on the night was Martin 'Sponger' Fortune. Well done to Martin and to Phil for all their work, enthusiasm, and passion for their club. It has been an amazing five months.

The club honoured five players with awards winning all-Ireland medals over 50 years ago in 1968. Paddy O'Connor and Tom Byrne with the Wexford Minor all-Ireland team. Christy and Mick Jacob with the Wexford Senior Hurlers and Margaret Leacy with the Wexford camogie and they were presented with their awards by Martin' Sponger' Fortune.

Rackard League/Mini 7s.

The Rackard League Hurling team had a great win in Bunclody on Wednesday, March 20, beating Bunclody 5-17 to 4-2 and they now play Ballindaggin on Wednesday, April 3. Venue and time to be confirmed. The Rackard league girls lost to Davidstown by two points and they play Oylegate next Monday the 25th in Oylegate at 2 p.m.

Leinster Leagues

Our under-13 boys play in the final of the Silver Division in Oulart on Sunday, March 31, at 3.30 p.m. against Kilmacud Crokes and our senior camogie team play in the final against Rathnure at 2.30 in Abbottstown on the same day. Best of luck to both teams.

GAA Results

Great results all round last week in R1 of the leagues. The Intermediate Men beat Our Lady's Island 1-17 to 1-07. The Junior Hurlers beat Cloughbawn 2-14 to 1-16. The senior men beat Ferns, St Aidan's 2-13 to 1-13. The senior camogie girls beat Glynn-Barntown. Due to unforeseen circumstances R1 of the under-17 Championship has been re fixed for Thursday, March 28, in Oulart at 8 p.m.

Development lotto

Results of the Curracloe United lotto draw for Sunday, March 17, The numbers drawn were 5, 23, 25 and 28. There was no jackpot winner and two match-three winners who each received €150, George Monahan, Galbally, Curracloe and Stephen and Billy, c/o Alan Monahan.

Events at Hotel Curracloe

Weekly winners of the Partners 45 cards at Hotel Curracloe were Peggy Kelly and Murt Kelly. The Grand Easter final takes place on Thursday, April 11, You must have played six nights to qualify for the final. Bingo winner was George Monahan.

Curracloe school news

Congratulations to Tracey Lawlor, who won €90.50 in last week's split-the-pot draw, and Mamie O'Hanlon, who was the recent winner of €77.50c. The next draw takes place on Wednesday, March 27, Thank you to all who continue to support split-the-pot and to the local Curracloe Businesses. Bingo continues every Sunday from 3.30 5 p.m. in the school hall.

Well done to the Student Council, who independently organised a Bear and book sale to raise funds for hurls and helmets. They raised €175.70 in total.

Any donations of hurls and helmets in good condition would be appreciated by the school.

The recent 5K Fun Run raised €941. Thanks to all who took part and helped in any way, and special thanks to Esther O'Leary and Jessie O'Connor for all their work.

The clothes collection in conjunction with the National Council for the Blind raised €544.50c. Thanks to all who supported this collection.

Drama success

Congratulations to the local Bridge Drama Group, who have had much success of late with their current production - 'Brighton Beach Memoirs,' by Neil Simon. They took first place at the South Leinster Drama Festival in Gorey which qualified them for the all-Ireland final and on the night also collected quite a number of individual wins. They finished in third place at the Enniskillen Festival and received a warm welcome at the Portadown Drama Festival.

Camogie Club news

St Ibar's/Shelmalier camogie club will hold their next Teen Disco on April 12, 8.30 p.m. till 11 p.m. Tickets for same are on sale on Saturday, April 6, from 11 a.m to midday in the GAA clubhouse. Well done to the girls and boys who marched in the St Patrick's Day parade in Wexford town. They kept everyone entertained with beautiful singing along the route. 2019 membership is now due for all members.
