Bannow-Ballymitty: GAA club news - Lotto draw this Tuesday evening with a jackpot of €13,700. Tickets can be purchased from Doyle's Carrig, Seabreeze drycleaners, Tír na nÓg, Wallace's hardware, Costcutters, Staffords Tullycanna and from any Club Officer down in the complex. We had two winners in the last County Model draw. Shem Anglim won €150 cash while Tony Reck recieved €100. Congratulations to you both.

Hearty congratulations to Jane Rossiter and her Intermediate Football teammates. A win over Meath in Dr Cullen Park Carlow secured them a Leinster Final medal. Well done ladies and enjoy the celebrations.

The under-17 boys' football took a win over rivals Taghmon recently. Thanks to Meanie for her lovely photo shots.

The Junior Hurling team travelled to Rosslare on Saturday evening last and after being down five points at half time put in a fine second half display to come out winners. Well done to all.

Our camogie team have a home championship game on Tuesday against St Martin's. Hope the sun shines for the Killag show next Thursday.

Deepest condolences to the Neville Family of Balloughton and the Castle/Connick Family's Harristown on the sudden passing of Richard Neville. Richard is the Son of the Vice-president of our club which is an honary position with in the club and he goes suddenly on Monday last. May he rest in peace

Community Games

On Sunday, June 30, children in our area took part in track and field event at Enniscorthy Athletics Track which finished well in time for us to see Wexfords win against Kilkenny. The children did very well and nearly all qualified through their heats to take part in final on the day. Quite a few were close to medal places.

Donagh French (grandson of Mairead French, who was involved for many years with Community Games) took Bronze in the under-eight 60m final. Well done, Donagh.

Tullicanna Music Festival

The Tullicanna Music Festival takes place in Staffords pub on Sunday, July 14, starting at 5 p.m., barbecue and refreshments served tickets €5 all proceeds to Wexford MS.


Last week's split-the-pot winner was Mick Donovan winning €102. Next draw will take place on July 11 in Sammy's.

PLC course

Bridgetown College is now accepting applications for an interesting new Post-Leaving Certificate course in Information Processing, which is due to commence in September 2019. Successful candidates will complete Work Experience placements every Monday, attend college on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and Friday will be free for the completion of assignments, projects etc.

The course includes eight modules to be completed over the year, which will result in a full Level 5 QQI Certificate. Please email or phone 053 9135257 for further details. McCall Community Centre

Work has commenced on the refurbishing and repurposing of the old parish house as a Community Centre. To be renamed as McCall Community Centre, plans for phase one are in progress to provide a communal sitting room kitchen and launderette for use by residents of the Cottages and their visitors.

Planning is at an advanced stage for phase two which will see the provision of a meeting room/training suite, a digital hub, a local history room and facilities for start up businesses, all of which will be open to everyone to use. Funding has already been granted by National Lottery and Sustainable Energy Ireland and the committee is hopeful for a grant from Village Renewal Scheme to complete the project. When completed this project looks set to greatly enhance the village and the life of the parish.

Tidy Towns

Duncormick Area Action Group has once again entered this year's Tidy Town's Competition with judging from June-August. We are appealing to everyone to help us in obtaining better results this year and be proud of our village. We would also like to ask everyone to use the litter bins provided in the village.

South East Music Festival

Fastnet Rovers AGM

The Fastnet Rovers AGM will be held on Friday, July 12, in Rathangan Hall at 8 p.m. We are asking all current players, ex players, parents of players and anyone who has an interest in the club if they could attend, just to see what happens during the year and what it takes to run the club and get any input or ideas for any improvements.
