Blackwater: Tidy Town AGM - Blackwater Tidy Town AGM was held last Monday night. There is no change to the committee: Doug Taylor Chairperson. Nuala O Leary Treasurer and Clare Carroll Secretary and PRO.
After a very successful year we will continue to keep Blackwater clean and beautiful. If you are free anytime to help out please contact any member of the committee.
Our last litter pick of the year is Saturday December 14 to prepare the village and surrounding aras for a very special big man in the Red Suit coming the visit the following evening. Meeting on the bridge at 10 am weather permitting Many we wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year.
Our AGM is on Tuesday, December 10, at 2.30 p.m. in the hall, with election of new committee, refreshments and music (Tony Woods).
Annual dinner is in the Lodge on Saturday, December 14, at 8 p.m. Cost €20, all members attending are asked to bring a 'spot prize' to value of €5. if interested, please contact Kate at 087 2840457 as soon as possible.

Congratulations to Johnny O'Toole and the Wexford Schools hurling team who defeated Dublin South recently in Ferns Centre of Excellence by 1-19 to 1-7. Next up is Dublin North. Big prize if Wexford win - Into a group with St Kieran's, SPC and Col Eoin.
Galbally NS Variety Show
The children of Scoil Eoin Baiste, Galbally will be hosting a Variety show on Thursday, December 12, in the Sports Hall in Galbally at 7.30 p.m., featuring Oliver the Musical, a Nativity Play by the Junior Room and a host of other variety acts. Please come along to a guaranteed night of entertainment. Monster raffle on the night. All support greatly welcomed.

Senior citizens party
Bree Macra is hosting a Bree senior citizens Afternoon Tea Party on Sunday, January 5, 2020, from two to 4.30 p.m. All senior citizens living in the parish of Bree are invited to join them for an afternoon of tea, treats, chats, entertainment and festive fun. A Christmas Carol service by the children of Scoil Eoin Baiste will be held in the church in Galbally on Wednesday, December 18, at 7.30 p.m.
Galbally St Stephen's Day Fun Run/Walk
The time to dust down the runners is approaching in time for Galbally's 'overindulgence' festive run, walk, trot or pram push. Galbally Sports and Leisure Club will host a 5k fun run/walk on St Stephen's Day, December 26. The event will begin at midday, with registration taking place from 11.30 a.m. onwards. Entry fee is €5 for adults, €10 for a family.
Refreshments will be served in the hall afterwards. Everyone is invited to come along and get involved in what promises to be a fun community event.
Bingo continues Tuesdays at 9 p.m. in Byrnes of Bree. Books are €10 on the night and €2 bonus sheets are available.
Bree AC News
Bree AC AGM took place in Bree Community Centre on Thursday last, December 5. The club is 50 years in existence in 2020. Officers for the coming year are William Spratt Murphy (chairman), Clare Doyle (secretary) and Aideen Kenny (treasurer).
The annual Awards were presented after the AGM. 2019 Award winners were Ciara Laffan 'Athlete of the Year'; Katie Doyle 'Peter Byrne Memorial Trophy'; Lea Bolger 'Pat O'Leary Distance Trophy': Abbie Doyle 'Tony Greene Merit Award'; Darra Casey 'Paul Kehoe Merit Award'; Jayden Kenny 'John Godkin under-13 Award' and PJ Breen 'Bree ICA Parish Athlete Award'.
Indoor Athletic Training has ceased for the younger age groups till the new year.
The sympathy of the community is extended to Geraldine and Pat Sutton and family on the death of Geraldine's mother, Mary-Kate (Maisie) O'Donohoe Rathimney, Gusserane, on Friday, November 29, in her 99th year. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Margaret O'Leary, Mary-Kate, Bridget Kennedy and Geraldine Sutton, sons-in-law Pat O'Leary, Martin Kennedy and Pat Sutton, grand-children, great-grandchildren, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends. The late Mrs O'Donohoe was laid to rest in Gusserane Cemetery after Requiem Mass, on Sunday, December 1. Ar dheis láimh Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
Oulart Parish lost another of its loyal parishioners on Wednesday, December 4, when Matty Leacy, Courtclough went to his eternal reward. Heartfelt sympathy is extended to his wife Margaret (née O'Leary), sons Lorcan and Noel, daughters Ramona Harney, Mary Hughes and Úna, brother Martin, sons-in-law Francis, Richard and Úna's partner Barry, grandchildren Catherine, Rachel, Jake and Mike, brothers-and-sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended family, neighbours and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Séamus, and sisters Enda and Sheila. Matty was laid to rest in Oulart Cemetery after funeral Mass in St Patrick's Church, on Friday, December 6. Solas na bhFlaitheas dá anam dílis.
Church Fund-Christmas Draw
Tickets for the annual Oulart Church 'Christmas Draw' have been delivered to the houses in the parish. Your generous support would be greatly appreciated. Míle buíochas to all who donated prizes for the draw. Among the valuable prizes are a Christmas Hamper,€100 and other Cash prizes, Coal Nuggets, Shopping Vouchers, Christmas Cake and many other seasonal prizes. Tickets must be returned to the Parochial House or to Pierce Redmond's Shop, Raheenduff before December 21.
Rehearsals for choir for Christmas will continue on Tuesdays December 10 and 17 in the well-heated St Mochua's Chapel 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The guild will hold its Christmas Lunch on Saturday, January 18, and members will do Kris Kindle at that event. Anne Byrne represented the guild in the 'autumn Foliage' competition at the last Federation meeting. Most of the members signed up to attend the Wexford Federation Lunch on Sunday, February 9.
The parents' association of Scoil Mochua are producing Christmas Cards as part of their fundraising activities. Packs of 10 cards will be on sale for €8, €15 for two packs and €20 for three packs. The cards can be bought at Oulart post office, Lar Corrigan's Supermarket and Pierce Redmond's Raheenduff.
Scoil Mochua's split-the-pot organisers congratulate its latest winner - Deirdre O'Leary-who gets €105. The next draw will take place on December 9. The split-the-pot Christmas Draw on December 16 will feature some great extra prizes so make sure to be in with a chance to win.
Oulart split-the-pot will be taking a break over the Christmas holidays but will be back on January 6. The next 'Pay Upfront' campaign will begin on Monday, January 13. All envelopes containing €20 for 11 draws must be in split-the-pot boxes by 6 p.m. on Monday, January 13. Upfront envelopes cannot be taken after this time and date.
Bingo continues in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday nights, commencing at 8 p.m. and usually concluding before 9.30 p.m.
Local causes benefit from the proceeds each session. At the time of writing, the jackpot stands at €500-a sum of money well worth winning.
Scoil Mochua's annual Christmas Concert will take place over two nights, Tuesday, December 17, and Wednesday, December 18, beginning at 7 p.m., each night. (€5 per adult and €2 for teenagers, maximum for family will be €10). Parents/audience will only be required to pay admission on one night.
Parents/Guardians, children are invited to bring their Crib figure of Baby Jesus to 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday, December 15, where it will be blessed by parish priest, Fr Browne.
Fundraiser for Scoil Mochua
John-Joe and Aisling Hyland are selling Christmas Trees at a cost of €30 each, with all proceeds going to the local primary school. The trees can be bought and collected from Hyland's Nursery on Fridays or Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Christmas Jumper/Casual Clothes Day
The Parents' Association of Scoil Mochua invite pupils to wear a Christmas jumper or casual clothes of their choice, on Thursday, December 20, and to donate at least €2 (or whatever suits their family) in aid of the Paediatric Unit in Wexford Hospital.

Scoil Mochua's board of management (term of office commencing December 2019) is as follows Fr Paddy Browne (chairperson), Helena Jacob, Martin Dempsey, Peter Kennedy, Marianne Cooney, Chris O'Kane along with teachers Carmel Codd and Maria Barron.
The school community thanks Josie Sinnott for her unwavering service to the BOM over the past 12 years and to Tara Finn and teacher Noreen Lenihan for their input over the past four years.
Scoil Mochua thanks the Parents 'Association for contributing €500 towards the purchase of Maths Resources and Games that can be used for Stations and Wet Lunchtime activities.
The Hallowe'en Hike raised €1,277 and will be used towards Physical Education Resources.

Community First Responders
Oulart-The Ballagh CFR Unit would sincerely like to thank the organisers Joanne Dunne, Nicola Stamp and Yvonne O'Leary, who donated over €4,000 to our unit as a result of the Charity Bingo that was organised recently. This money will be put to great use for equipment and training.
