GAA club notes
Unfortunately our under-20 hurlers lost in the premier semi-final in Blackwater pitch by three points against Harriers. Our lads played excellently and could of won with a bit more lucky. An excellent achievement for the boys so hopefully a sign of exciting things to come.
The Rackard League boys' football team unfortunately lost out to Oulart and Castlebridge and will be in Rackard League Roinn B quarter finals. The girls are through to the final seven in the sevens competition.

This week 25 years ago, the juvenile league continued. Brian Curran's team were to play Austin Corrigans team while in the second game Brian Curran's team were to play James 'Nipper' Murphys team.
Would everyone connected with groups, asssociation etc in the Blackwater Parish please consider putting up notifications in the local newspaper. We are one of the few parishes that dont keep everyone informed of events, results of draws, enrollments upcoming and important events.

Crossabeg-Ballymurn Ladies' Gaelic Football club are holding a table quiz on Friday, October 25, at 9 p.m in Mernagh's of Oylegate. An enjoyable evening is ensured, so why not go along and exercise those brain cells.
Silver Circle Bonanza
An exciting event will take place in the Ferrycarrig hotel on Friday, October 18, when the Crossabeg-Ballymurn community centre committee will hold the Silver Circle Bonanza draw, where there is a prize money fund of €10,000.
Everyone is welcome to join the committee on this social occasion which will begin at 8 p.m. and continue till late. Admission is free. Information and plans of the new building will be available on the night too.
Five Mile Road Race
An important date to save. The ever popular Ferrycarrig '5' five mile Road Race is back for 2020 and will be held on Sunday, January 5, Huge thanks to title sponsor Sheridan.ie. Further information and details to follow.
On Day one of the county competitions which took place on Sunday week last in the JFK park, New Ross, Zach Deering finished in seventh place in his race. He was in fourth position with 300m to go but found the going tough from there to the finish and came home in a credible seventh place. Very good going for a newcomer. His time was 8.50 for 2km. Adamstown open cross-country takes place on Sunday, October 20, commencing at midday with a tiny tots race. They will also cater for under-nine boys and girls (500m) under-10 and 11 boys and girls (1000m) under-12 and 13 boys and girls (1500m) under-14 and 15 boys and girls (2500m) under-16, 17, 18 boys and girls (3000m) as well as junior, senior and ladies races.
The sympathy of the community is extended to Eileen and Hugh Coleman and family, Kilcormack on the death of Eileen's sister, Mrs Bernadette Phelan (née Whelan),Tullogher, who died on September 26 and was buried in Mullinarrigle Cemetery. The late Mrs Phelan was also aunt to Noeleen O'Connor to whom sympathy is also extended. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
The recent church gate collection, at St Patrick's Church, Oulart, in aid of the Irish Kidney Association amounted to €282 and the Tidy Towns Collection amounted to €255. The organisers extend sincere thanks to all who supported these worthy causes. Coffee morning.
A coffee morning in aid of St Mochua's Church will be held in Marty's Bar on Friday, October 18, from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. All are welcome to attend and your generous support would be greatly appreciated.
Bingo in Community Centre
Bingo has recommenced in Oulart Community Centre and will continue on Sunday nights, beginning at 8 p.m. Young and not - so - young enjoy the bingo sessions that are over reasonably early, in the newly decorated premises. Various local community groups and organisations intend using the bingo to raise funds for their own particular cause. Oulart-The Ballagh senior camogie team contested the Co. Championship Final against St Martin's in torrential rain on Saturday, October 5, in Bellefield and despite the atrocious weather, both teams played some really good camogie, with the rivals finishing level at the final whistle. The replay will take place at the same venue on Sunday, October 13, and the result will be in the sports pages of this paper on Tuesday the 15th.
Congratulations to the under-14 camogie team on winning the 12-a-side Shield Final by deteating Rapparees on a score-line of six goals eight points to two goals two points. Thank you and well done to the hard-working team mentors Nicola Doyle, Niamh Sinnott, Ger Martin and Lisa Kenny, who put in so much work with the team throughout the year. The after-match celebrations were greatly enjoyed by the youngsters.
Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club is hosting a 'Look Good-Feel Good' Day on Sunday, November 24, in the Riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. There will be various demonstrations and a Fashion Show throughout the afternoon as well as numerous stands and artisan foods on display around the room. Anyone wishing to take a stand should contact Kathryn at 087 2538105 as soon as possible.
Our under-15 boys will play the semi-final of the Roinn one championship, versus Cloughbawn, on Saturday, September 19, in St Patrick's Park, beginning at 11 a.m. Best of luck to the players and mentors. Supporters are encouraged to provide lots of vocal support.
The Nursery Training and under-seven boys training finished on Saturday, October 5, with lots of fun and games. The children were presented with Certificates by Shauna Sinnott and Rory Jacob. Míle buíochas to Eileen Codd for co-ordinating the Nursery all summer. She did a brilliant job organising the rota and pitch preparations every Saturday morning and our GPO, Neill McCrea is thanked for his input too. Sincere thanks also to Annette Redmond and mentors Paddy Martin, Brendan Wickham and Gavin for their work with the under-seven boys.
Martin Storey Tournament
This under-14 hurling Tournament has been a great success in the past and this year promises to continue the trend. The first matches will be played this Sunday, October 20, when Oulart-The Ballagh are at home to St Martin's at 11 a.m. Why not attend and see for yourselves the talented up-and-coming hurlers that are in our club?
The lotto draw takes place every two weeks and the Prize-fund has reached €14,600. All money from the lotto go to the upkeep and maintenance of the club. Tickets are available from club members and local businesses. Tickets cost a mere two euro each and there are five Luck Dip prizes of €30 to be won in each fortnightly draw. We would appeal to everyone to support the lotto.
Healthy Club Status
Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club is one of 84 GAA Clubs, across the 32 counties who completed Phase three of the 'Healthy Clubs' Project and were recognised as an Official GAA Healthy Club at the National Healthy Club Conference in Croke Park on October 5. Our club is one of 16 clubs nationwide who have successfully implemented a smoke-free policy. This and many other initiatives were introduced and promoted by our health and Well-being officer, Breda Flood, who deserves the highest praise for her diligence, enthusiasm and hard work in this important area. She along with fellow - activist Catherine Murphy attended the awards ceremony in Croke Park.
The next meeting of Oulart ICA will be held on Monday, October 21, in Oulart Community Centre, beginning at 8 p.m. Members get involved in a wide variety of activities-cultural, sporting and artistic - as well as cookery and crafts. There is usually a demonstration or talk each month and refreshments are served. New members are always welcome to join Oulart ICA.
Scoil Mochua's split-the-pot organisers congratulate its latest winner-Pat Roche - who gets €142. The next draw will be held on October 14. Entry envelopes are available from local businesses.

Oulart-The Ballagh CFR Unit is a voluntary group, set up to assist the National Ambulance Service, in our community, seven nights per week. The group is looking for volunteers to come on board. Full training will be given and as they work on a rota, the more people involved the better. Ideally, everyone should have this training as it saves lives. Camogie club news
Congratulations to the St Ibar's/Shelmalier camogie under-14 girls and their mentors on their recent win over Duffry Rovers in the Roinn 1A County final in Oulart. The next disco takes place on Friday, November 1, Tickets go on sale on Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m till midday at the club house.
