GAA club Notes

Our under-16 team lost out to Fethard/Clongeen on Sunday morning last in Fethard by a point with a very experimental side taking to the pitch including five of next year's under-15 team. The game in the first half had a winter hurling feeling about it with poor shooting at goal and poor striking a feature for both sides. Mougeen probably did most of the early running but our lads took the lead on the 20th minute when a lovely ball across goal was caught by Adam Cullen, who normally is seen between the sticks, blast the ball to the net. We had Brian Og to thank in the final 10 minutes of the half when he made a number of crucial saves with our boys leading by two at the turn.

Mougeen quickly leveled the game in the first few minutes and then were leading by the 10th minute. Our lads though stuck to their task well and we had our second goal when Jason Wallace caught a nice crossfield ball, turned and shot at the top corner from distance which flew straight to the net with still 16 left on the clock to put us into the lead by two. Clongeen-Fethard though chipped away at our score and were level again 10 minutes later before taking the lead with a few minutes to go. We had a few late chances to level the game but unfortunately it wasnt to be. It was a good run out for the lads with a lot of players playing in different positions and also some valuable experience for some of our under-15 team for next year. Their next game is at home to St James at 11 a.m. on Sunday morning.

Well done to Jamie Lambert, who was part of the St Peter's College first team who defeated St Kieran's in the Leinster Hurling first year championship.

No winner of the lotto. The jackpot has now increased to €10,000. Lucky-dip winners were Seán Hamilton, Stella O'Connor, Conor Rowe, Kate Dooley, Danny Murphy and the seller's prize John O'Reilly. Next draw will take place on Monday, November 19.
