Bicycle Safety

St Joseph's NS in Bree has been working recently on bicycle safety with the children. We have arranged bicycle safety workshops where the children learned how to cycle safely. We have also texted parents reminding them to take care when young cyclists are on the roads, as well as reinforcing the message to children at assembly time.

In liaison with the council, the parents' association has arranged for the erection of signs that remind drivers to be careful around cyclists.

Now we are asking parishioners to do the same. Please give our young cyclists plenty of space when driving. Be aware that children make mistakes and can sometimes make sudden unpredictable movements while learning to cycle. Drivers can help by reducing their speed, keeping their distance and showing patience to young cyclists.

Cycling is great for the planet, great for the children and an essential skill for every child. Please help us to make the roads safe in the parish of Bree.
