Church news

Dates For Your Diary: Sunday, November 3, Clonard Parish Remembrance Service at 7 p.m.

Family Liturgy Group 20th Anniversary: We had a wonderful celebration of Mass to mark the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Family Liturgy Group. The idea for the new group came about in 1999 when Monsignor Lennon, Sister Marion of the Schoenstatt Sisters and a number of parishioners formed the Family Liturgy Group. Phil Walsh was invited to become musical director and Sister Marion was director of the group till she left the parish. The Family Liturgy Group has and continues to animate our 10 a.m. Mass, with music, readings, and pageant. It was great to see and welcome so many past members and leaders back. The Family Liturgy Group is always looking for new members. Children, who have made their First Holy Communion and upwards, are welcome to become members of the Family Liturgy Group, come and join us. Bless a Bulb

Parishioners at Barntown are invited to attend at the 'blessing of bulbs' during Masses on Saturday and Sunday, November 2, and three. It is hoped to sow the bulbs (daffodils) in the church grounds later that week. Each family is asked to pick a bulb at the church porch in memory of a deceased friend or relative. The bulb will be blessed during Mass and parishioners are then asked to place the bulb in a basket at the altar as Mass concludes. As November is the month traditionally associated with the deceased, this initiative affirms our belief in everlasting life for ourselves and our loved ones and it draws attention to 'our common home' - the earth - which we are asked to love and tend carefully. Remembering our passed loved ones - caring for our environment - cherishing local beauty.
