Na Fianna GAA

Thank you to all that turned up to our medal presentation night. Thank you to Kate Kelly and Martin Storey for presenting the medals to the boys and girls. Training for under-nine and under-11 boys 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and under-10 and under-12 camogie girls 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in St Peter's College. All other training is finished for the season. Winner of split-the-pot was Brian Kavanagh. Seller was Marlowe's Cleaners.

Wexford Folk Orchestra

Following its very successful annual outing, spent this year in Westport, Co. Mayo, the Wexford Folk Orchestra is currently in preparation for its annual Festival Concert of Irish, Scottish and Folk Music, singing and Recitations.

This year's concert will also feature Guest Artist Stephen Murphy, who has entertained so many over the years with his fantastic singing. The concert which is part of the 'Fringe Events' of the Wexford Opera Festival, takes place at the Riverbank House Hotel, Ferrybank, Wexford on Thursday, October 31. Doors open at 7.30 for 8 p.m., and the concert will conclude at 10.30 p.m. Tickets cost €12., and are available at the Door. Patrons are advised to come early in order to avoid disappointment.

The Wexford Folk Orchestra consists of approximately twentyfive musicians and singers, ranging in age from mid 30's to late 80's who play traditional and folk music. Instruments range from fiddle, banjo, bass guitar, accordion, whistle, flute, piccolo, spoons, percussion and keyboard. Practices take place on Monday nights at 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Fife and Drum Bandroom, Bride St., Wexford.

On average the Orchestra undertakes 12 public performances approximately each year i.e., charity and cultural events, birthdays, 'open days' at house and gardens and entertainment of senior citizens at specified centres. Community lotto

There was no jackpot winner this week. There were two match-three winner's.

The winning numbers were 2, 13, 18 and 26. The winner's were Mary Kielthy Rathangan Parish Hall and Larry Byrne St Fintan's GAA Club. The next lotto draw will be held on Tuesday, October 15, and the jackpot now stands at €4,200.


Last week's split-the-pot winner was Clock and Jackie winning €106.

Little Rascals

Little Rascals meet in Rathangan Hall every second Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. in our bright spacious room upstairs - €3 per family. Starting November 6. All welcome - babies and toddlers with mum, dads, aunties, grans, childminders.

Meet others from the community, enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Age appropriate play and developmental activities for all the little rascals, including art and crafts, baking and more. Ph 086 3365018.

Used clothing collection

Cleariestown Community Playgroup will be having a Fundraising used clothing collection on Monday, November 25. Due to new regulations we can no longer accept bed linen, towels, curtains and soft toys. Please donate all your clean unwanted clothes, shoes, bags, belts. You can drop off any items at the playschool any weekday morning between 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. All proceeds from this collection will go directly to the parish council to help with the running costs of our playroom within the community centre. Thank you for your support.

All-Ireland Titles

Congratulations to James Stanners, Kilmannon, who won the Masters 'B' Singles all-Ireland Handball Final played in Thurles on September 10. He beat Matt Kenny from Galway with scores of 21-6, 21-9. Also congratulations to David Stanners, Kilmannon and his partner Robert Byrne, Bridgetown, who beat the duo of Chris and Conal Curran from Tyrone in the Masters 'B' (60x30) all-Ireland Doubles in Mullingar on September 29 with scores of 8-21, 21-7, 21-10.

Ballycogley Players

We launched our 2019/2020 drama season last Friday evening in Tomhaggard Social Centre and a great night was had by all. We would like to thank author, Cat Hogan for being our guest of honour on the night. The casts of our one-act plays are putting the finishing touches to their productions ahead of their performances in the next few weeks.

Taghmon Camross

Mary Kelly presided over the October meeting, held in Camross Hall on Mon. 7th last. Minutes, correspondence and finance were dealt with by Margt Nolan, Mary Nolan and Dympna Kelly respectively.

Camross guild will host the Federation Table Quiz in Rochfords lounge on Thurs. 24th Oct at 8pm. and Camross will have a team competing. Six members participated in the Fun Run in terrible weather conditions on Sun 22nd Sept in JFK Park in aid of Tagoat Day Care and Lourdes Assisted Pilgrim fund.

Dympna Kelly thanked members that helped her with the Hospice Coffee Day at her home on Tues. 10th Sept, raising a grand total of €1890. Three members attended guild officers training recently and members also enjoyed Garden Demo held in Beechdale and organised by produce promoter Breda Banville.

The Seniors Christmas party will be held on Sun. 24th Nov in Taghmon/Camross GAA complex and our Ecumenical Service will be held after our next meeting which will be held in Camross Hall on Mon. 4th at earlier time of 7.30pm. Please remember to bring along your Shoe Box on the evening also.

Competition winner for nicest arrangement of autumnal leaves was Breda Whelan and the hostesses for the evening were Alice Whitty and Breda Banville. Ann Shalloe Barron from An Post was our guest speaker, she gave us a detailed list of services available to us from An Post and answered many questions.
