Crossabeg: Christmas Coffee Day - Annis Kehoe of Slaneylodge, Crossabeg, will hold her annual and ever popular fundraising Coffee Day on Saturday, December 7, in Kyle Forge.

On the day, those attending will be warmly greeted (with a roaring fire) as well as tea or coffee and lovely cakes and buns.

This year Annis has again decided that all money raised will go towards the local Crossabeg-Ballymurn community centre development project at Garrywilliam. During the event, there will be lots of tarts, buns, mince pies, Christmas cakes and puddings, jams, vegetables, etc on offer, just in time for Christmas. During the day, a raffle will also take place, with lots of lovely prizes to be won. For further enquiries, you can contact Annis at 087 2426146.

Christmas party

Crossabeg senior citizens committee are now calling on all householders and looking for your support for their annual raffle, which helps offset the costs of the annual Christmas party for the senior citizens in our community. Invitations for the guests are also being distributed.

Bridge Drama

Due to phenomenal demand, Bridge Drama have added two extra dates to their run of 'Thy Will Be Done'. They will take place on Thursday and Friday, November 14, and 15, 8 p.m nightly. Tickets are available from wexfordartscentre.ie or by contacting 053 9123764 and cost €13.

Tom Carty, RIP

Sincere condolences to the family of the late Tom Carty, Galbally, Crossabeg, who died at university hospital, Waterford on Tuesday, November 5, especially to his wife May, sons Harry, John and Thomas, daughters Anne and Jane, sisters, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, relatives and friends. His funeral took place to Crossabeg cemetery after Requiem Mass at 11 o'clock on Saturday last. RIP Full report next week.

Bereavements

The sympathy of the community is extended to the brothers Peter and Kieran, sisters Ann and Marie and their families, other relatives and friends of the late Joe Kelly, Monavullen, who passed to his eternal reward on October 31 and was buried, in Oulart Cemetery on November 2, after Funeral Mass in St Patrick's Church, Oulart. The deceased was son of the late James and Mary (née Dempsey) and his sister Margaret also pre-deceased him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis. Condolences also to Pauline and Sergeant Brendan Moore and family on the recent death of Pauline's brother, Eric Bolger, Bishopwater, Wexford. Solas na bhFlaitheas dá anam uasal.

Senior citizens

The committee which organises the annual Christmas party for Oulart senior citizens will hold a Church-Gate Collection before Masses on Saturday, November 16, and Sunday the 17th. To further help defray the costs associate with the Christmas party the committee will also run bingo in Oulart Community Centre on Sunday, December 1, beginning at 8 p.m. Your generous support would be greatly appreciated.

Míle Buíochas

Oulart Christmas Lights Committee extend their sincere thanks to all who contributed to the recent church gate collection which raised €239 and to all who donated or bought confectionary at the cake sale that yielded €383.50. The organisers are so grateful for the brilliant local support.

Tastes of Home

The new series of Tastes of Home began airing on RTÉ on November 4. Episode two had an Oulart/Boston connection and was broadcast on RTÉ one at 7.30 p.m. on November 11. It featured Mrs Marian Sinnott, Kilnamanagh, Oulart and her daughter Sarah-Jo who lives and works in Boston. Marian taught presenter Catherine Fulvio how to make Sarah-Jo's favourite dish, Chicken Paprika and later on, Ms Fulvio travelled to Boston to replicate the dish and bring a 'Taste of Home' to Sarah-Jo. Coffee morning Thanks

The recent coffee morning held in Marty's Bar, Oulart, in aid of St Mochua's Church, was an outstanding success and raised €1,200. The organisers extend a very sincere thanks to all who supported it so generously.

St Mochua's Church gives great service to the people, as among other uses it is the venue for Eucharistic Adoration each Tuesday from 9.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; the annual Novena to St Therese in September each year leading up to her Feast Day; Vigil Prayers for the seriously ill when the need arises and the annual Remembrance Mass for the Pike People.

This Church that was restored to commemorate the bicentenary of 1798 is an important anchor point in the Hub of Oulart's history. Visitors are fascinated when they hear the story of the building which dates back to 1753.The raffle winners at the coffee morning were Olive Haslam, Bridget O'Toole, Ellen McCallion, Bridget Cullen and Marie Duggan.

Down Syndrome Collection

The Wexford Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland wishes to thank everyone who supported their recent church gate collection in Oulart. The amount collected and banked was €228. Míle buíochas also to the volunteer collectors for their great work.

FAI Cup victory

Congratulations to Nicola Sinnott, The Ballagh, who was a star defender on the Wexford Youths team in the FAI Women's Senior Cup final that was played in the Aviva Stadium on Sunday, November 3. The Wexford team defeated Peamount by three goals to two to win the Cup Final for the third time in five years.

Christmas Cards

The parents' association of Scoil Mochua are producing Christmas Cards as part of their fundraising activities, this year. Packs of 10 cards will be on sale for €8.

Craft Fair

Oulart Community Centre will host a Craft Fair on Sunday, December 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you would like to book a stall or if you require further information please contact Theresa at 086 8227077.

Split-the-pot

Scoil Mochua's split-the-pot organisers congratulate its latest winner - Mia and Emma Doyle, who get €132. The next draw will take place on November 11. Entry envelopes are available from the school and from local businesses.

Sing Out Loud Concert

Scoil Mochua pupils from third to sixth class are busy preparing for the Sing Out Loud Concert that will take place in the National Opera House on Tuesday, November 19. This is a unique opportunity for children to experience the thrill of performing at such an iconic venue.

GAA Scór na nÓg

GAA, camogie, Rounders and handball members with an interest in song, dance, variety, music etc are invited to represent their club and enter the Scór Talent Competitions. The New Ross/Wexford semi-final of Scór na nÓg will take place in Rathangan Hall on November 15, beginning at 7.30 p.m. The Enniscorthy/Gorey semi-final will be held in Oulart Community Centre on the following night, Saturday, November 16, starting at 7 p.m. The county final, featuring the qualifiers from the semi-finals will take place in Oulart on Friday, November 22. The Scór na nÓg table quiz will be held in St, Martin's GAA Complex on Thursday, November 28.

Change of date

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA Club's annual general meeting that was fixed for Friday, November 29, will have to be re-arranged on account of a clash with the Dáil By-Election Vote that takes place on the same date, at the same venue. A new date for the AGM will be included in next week's Notes. A new date for the annual End of Year Meeting for underage will also be announced.

Under-14 hurling

The boys are progressing well in the Martin Storey Tournament with recent victories over Oylegate-Glenbrien and St Anne's. They have two more group games to play, against St Martin's and Buffers Alley. Best of luck to the panel, their manager Philip Rossiter and selectors Alan O'Connor and Dean O'Connor.

Camogie Fundraiser

Oulart-The Ballagh camogie club are hosting a fundraiser 'Look Good-Feel Good' on Sunday, November 24, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Riverside Hotel. There will be various demonstrations throughout the afternoon including Floral Arranging, Kinesiology, Make-Up, Grooming and a Fashion Show. There will also be numerous stands of crafts and Artisan foods, Style Items, Gift Ideas etc around the room. Tickets at €10 are available from players and committee.

St Ibar's/Shelmaliers camogie club will hold their annual general meeting on Friday, November 22, at 8 p.m. in Hollymount. Notifications will be sent out in the coming days. If you do not receive one, and would like to do so, please contact the secretary at 087 6983334.

Shelmalier SHIFTA Awards

You have heard of the Oscars and you have heard of the Baftas, well now we have SHIFTAS, the Shelmalier International Film and Television awards. The Shelmalier GAA Club have seven local producers reshooting seven famous films with all the actors and actresses draw from the club and local community.

Join them on November 23 in Hotel Curracloe for a fantastic nights entertainment. Enjoy the seven hilarious film clips plus additional footage and bloopers. Additional entertainment from drumming sensations Extreme Rhythm and other local talent. Weekly winners of the partners 45 cards in Hotel Curracloe were Donal O'Leary and Séamus O'Leary. Cards take place every Thursday night at 9 p.m and all are welcome.

Split-the-pot

Congratulations to the winner of last week's split-the-pot draw which is being run by Curracloe national school, Katrina Kehoe, who won €126, and also to Rebecca Dunleavy, who won €126 in this week's draw. Envelopes are on sale in all the local Curracloe businesses as well as the school for €2 for one draw, six draws for €10 or 12 draws for €20. The next draw takes place on Wednesday, November 13.

Castlebridge ICA

The next guild meeting of Castlebridge ICA will take place on Monday, November 18, at 7.30 p.m. in the community centre Castlebridge. Following the meeting there will be a chance to follow some Tai Chi movements, these will be facilitated by Tai Chi Instructor. Prospective new members always welcome to attend.
