Glenbrien: Social dancing - The next date for social dancing in Oylegate Community Centre, is Sunday, May 12. Music on the night is by Glen Flynn. Glen is a regular visitor to Oylegate and patrons are looking forward to his return.

Dancing is from 9.30 p.m. Admission is €8. Come along for a lovely night of music, dance and good food.

Glenbrien Community Fest

An event will take place on bank holiday Sunday, May 5, to celebrate our community.

This event will take place on the grounds of Glenbrien Holy Family Primary School from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Bring your picnic and picnic blanket, avail of tea or coffee and home bakes or buy a burger from the barbecue

Come and join us on the day for music, dance, face-painting and fun garden games including tug of war, horseshoes, card games and much more. To get involved contact Ana Egan 086 1939997.

Adult Fitness Classes

New six-week term starts again in the Old School centre on Thursday next at 7, 30 p.m. Learn basic Latin American Ballroom dance moves while working up a sweat and having lots of fun. For more information please contact Charlene at 087 9668411.

Hospice Coffee Morning

A coffee morning in aid of Wexford Hospice Homecare will take place in Oylegate Community Centre on Saturday, May 4, from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be a raffle and Home baking sale. Please come along, bring your family and friends to support this worthy cause.

Open day at Artramon

Crossabeg senior citizens committee are delighted to host the open day at Artraman House and Gardens which will be held on Sunday, May 19, Gates open at 2 p.m. and admission is €2 per adult with children going free.

Oulart

May Bush Party

The third annual Oulart 'May Bush' Party will be held at the Bygone Days House of stories, Lower Oulart on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6, beginning at 7 p.m.

All are invited to attend this free, informal gathering where traditional refreshments will be served. Parents/guardians are encouraged to bring their children, who may, if they wish help to decorate the May Bush with painted egg-shells, ribbons, streamers etc and learn something about the traditions attached to the old Celtic festival of Bealtaine.

It has been suggested that children come in their favourite costume and there will be treats for all. See Oulart Hill Facebook for a photo of last year's May Bush.

Kilnamanagh Spring Fair

On Saturday, May 11, Kilnamanagh Old School will be the venue for a 'Spring Fair' in aid of Kilnamanagh and Kilmuckridge Parishes.

All the usual stalls will be there - Home Baking, Country Produce, bottle stall, Book Stall, bric-à-brac etc. There will also be a Grand Raffle with lots of valuable prizes, including cash prizes and of course, Afternoon Tea will be available. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Oulart Text Alert

Safety and security of people and their property are vitally important in all communities and Text Alert greatly assists that purpose. Existing members are reminded that the end of April is the last date for paying the membership fee in order to continue your inclusion in Oulart Text Alert. Scoil Mochua Easter Raffle

Thank you to all who supported the Easter Egg Hunt. The winners of the raffle were Paul and Tara Finn, Kathleen Hyland and Liam Doyle. Easter Eggs were won by Christine Smith, Barry O'Connor, Marianne Cooney, Kasey Kehoe and Annie Morton.

Oulart Hill Development

The dedicated volunteers of Oulart Hill Development, who work earnestly to keep alive the history of the parish and the surrounding areas, who look after the local historic sites and monuments and who promote the Oulart Hill Walking Hub are appealing for new members to join them in their work.

The group held its AGM in the house of stories, Lower Oulart on Tuesday, April 23, and the outgoing officers were returned unopposed. (chairman, John Dempsey, secretary Brian Cleary, Joint treasurers Patrick Power and Breda Jacob).

The group would like to thank everyone who participated and all who helped with the preparation for the commemoration ceremony at the Mise Éire monument on Easter Sunday morning. Among the attendance were Willie Kavanagh, chairman of Enniscorthy Municipal District Council and James Browne T. D.

Oulart ICA Guild

The AGM took place in Oulart Community Centre on April 15 where the guild meetings will be held for the foreseeable future. The officers for the coming year are Marie Poiritt (president), Anne O'Connor (secretary), Ellen McCallion (treasurer), Breda Jacob (PRO and Timire), Catherine O'Sullivan (Arts Promoter) and Mary-Geraldine Buttle (International Officer).

New members are always welcome to attend the regular monthly meetings that take place on the third Monday of the month. The next meeting will be held on May 20. Guild members Anne O'Connor and Breda Jacob participated successfully in 'ICAs Got Talent' on Wednesday, April 24, in Camross Hall

Cake sale

A cake sale in aid of Oulart Christmas Lights will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 4, and five, to raise funds to totally replace the lights and to light up Oulart Village at Christmas time. Donations of confectionary would be appreciated and may be left at Marty's Bar on the afternoon of Saturday, May 4.

Get Well Wishes

Best wishes for a speedy return to full health to the people from the area who are sick at home or in hospital.

Don't forget that on the First Friday of every month, the Rosary will be recited in St Mochua's Church, at 7.30 p.m. for the intentions of the sick of the parish.

Scoil Mochua

The pupils of Scoil Mochua have some very interesting school tours to look forward to in June.

The junior and senior infants will visit Kia Ora Mini-Farm on June 20. First and Second Classes will travel to UCD Sports Centre on June 11. Third and Fourth Classes will visit Kilkenny Activity Centre on June 18 while the Fifth and Sixth Classes will travel to Dunmore Adventure Centre on June 24.

School Dates to remember - An Information meeting for parents of New Entrants will be held on May 2 at 2 p.m. First Communion will take place in St Patrick's Church on May 18. School will be closed all week June June 3 to June 7. The summer Holidays will begin at midday on June 28. Oulart annual patron and field day will be held on June 30.

Nursery Training

Oulart-The Ballagh GAA and camogie 'Red and Black Play and Stay Nursery' for boys and girls aged four to five years (born 2014 and 2015) started on Saturday, April 27, 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. Registration is €20. Contact Liz Freeman at 087 7560871 for further information.

GAA Results/Fixtures

Pride of place this week must go to our wonderful under-14 hurlers and their backroom team on their fine displays in the qualifying rounds of Féile on Easter Monday in Monamolin where they defeated St Martin's, Duffry Rovers and Buffers Alley to reach the semi-final where they overcame a gallant Shelmaliers team on a scoreline of four goals eight points to three points. They will contest the final, versus St Anne's on Sunday, May 5, in St Patrick's Park, at 11 a.m. The winners will represent Co. Wexford in Féile na nGael in Cork in June.

Oulart-The Ballagh supporters can be relied upon to attend in numbers to cheer on this wonderful group of young players who demonstrate an exciting and intelligent brand of hurling.

In adult championship the seniors drew with Rathnure, our intermediates defeated Ballygarrett and our juniors lost to Oylegate-Glenbrien. The under-nine boys enjoyed a Football Blitz involving themselves, Shamrocks, Blackwater and Bunclody.

The under-13 hurlers play Buffers Alley, in championship on Tuesday, April 30, at 7.15 p.m. in Monamolin.

Camogie

The seniors had a good win over Rathnure in the league while the juniors overcame Oylegate. The under-10 players gave a great account of themselves in a blitz. The senior camogie players organised a very successful cake sale in Oulart and the Ballagh over Easter and they would like to express their deep gratitude to everyone who supported it so generously. The spirit of joyful giving is alive and well in the parish.

Spring Clean

Please hold on to any books you may no longer need. There will be a second-hand book sale held for adults and children in the school in May.

Thank You

A big thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make the recent Type one Diabetes coffee morning such a great success. A total of €1,118.00 was raised and again many thanks as it is greatly appreciated.

During the afternoon, guests can relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens and ponds of Artraman while the children can explore the Fairy Garden. Refreshments will also be served and why not sit back and enjoy the lovely music which will be supplied by the ever popular Wexford Folk Orchestra.
