COMMUNITY GAMES

Wow what a great weekend. Glynn-Barntown brought four competitors to university of Limerick for the National Community Games Finals and what a weekend was had by both competitors and their supporters.

First up we had Cara Kelly in under-14 girls 800m who ran a great race in her heat and was unfortunate not to qualify. Following this we had our hurdles qualifiers Shane and Ruby - after semi-finals both were in great contention for a medal prospect. Up first after lunch we saw Shane Laffan in the under-10 boys, who despite a slip at the start, recovered admirably to gain a well earned Bronze in a hotly contested race. Ruby Reynolds stormed to victory in under-14 girls - celebration time at the podium with two medals to collect. After lunch, Shannon Codd in the girls under-14 Shot Putt progressed through heavy downpours to the final eight and came an excellent fifth place with her good year to come under-14 next year.

We are so proud of how all of our athletes performed over the weekend - congratulations to you all. Many thanks to Aoife and Sinéad for their work over the weekend and a special mention to Jane Duggan, Lèa and Cillian Bolger, Craig and Ciara Laffan along with Tom and Cathy for their fantastic support of the girls and boys. Finally to all the Mam's and Dad's a heart felt thank you.
