Scouts

Congratulations to our team, who represented Kilmore in the County Scoutcraft Competition in Blackwater last weekend. After a delayed start on Saturday morning, followed by 15 hours of site build, bases and test meal they finished off the weekend on Sunday afternoon with a well deserved Silver Standard and qualification for the all-Ireland Phoenix competition in Cork in August.

We are very proud of their achievements for such a young team as they smiled through adversity and worked hard for each other in very trying conditions. Our Ventures and leaders worked hard all weekend on staff, manning bases, and supporting organising committee.

Wexford Triathlon Club 10k, Rosslare Strand Wexford Triathlon Club hosted the very popular Rosslare 10k on a glorious Easter Monday morning. 322 runners took to the road, including six of our members, who performed excellently.

Fiona Kehoe is gearing up for a busy track season now but was eager to race in Rosslare. Fiona looked strong throughout on a tough course and crossed the line in a time of 37: 05, the first woman home. Just over a minute behind Fiona, was Jackie Carthy. Jackie recently won a World Silver Medal in the World Masters Indoor Championships and was fancied to do well in Rosslare. Jackie ran a time of 38: 10, ensuring that she was the second woman home. Sinéad O'Brien, ran a strong race to finish as the first woman O40 in a time of 45: 58.

Apart from the prize winners, Nicky Foley, Suzanne Foley and Jenny Burrell, all ran. Remarkably, all three produced PB's, showing that all the hard training is paying off. Nicky went under 40 minutes for the first time, finishing 19th overall in a time of 39: 55. Suzanne had a 15 second PB, running 51: 31, on the challenging course. Jenny, continues to go from strength to strength, finishing in a time of 57: 40. Excellent results all round.

I couldn't not mention the great spread put on by the triathlon club after, the doughnuts were great. Well done on reaching 10 years of such a successful road race and we hope to see some of ye in Kilmore on September 14 for the inaugural Toddy Moore 10k.

WEXFORD 10K AND HALF MARATHON - Well done to our three athletes in Sundays Petitts Wexford Half Marathon and 10k. In the 10k, Shauna Cousins finished in a time of 50: 50.
