JUVENILE CROSS COUNTRY IN GOWRAN - The Leinster Juvenile Even Ages and Novice Cross Country Championships took place in Gowran, Co. Kilkenny on Saturday, October 26. Following persistent rain on Thursday and Friday, conditions underfoot around the course were far from ideal. Thankfully the rain did not continue on Saturday, with the sun staying out for the day.

Kate Fortune was first up in the girls under-10 1000m race. This was a non-championship race. Kate had a great run in this race. She continues to go from strength to strength and all the hard training is definetly paying off. In the girls under-12 2000m race, Rayna Thompson had a fantastic race finishing 13th. Rayna was in and around the top 10 for the majority of the race but just ran out of steam in the latter stages. She just missed out on qualifying for Nationals by one place.

Freya Thompson and Katie Foley were next up in the girls under-14 3000m race. Both of the girls had very strong races, coming 60th and 77th. respectively, with Katie running out of age. In the girls under-16 4000m race, Kate O'Flaherty and Arwyn Thompson were both stepping up an age group. Kate finished 45th and Arwyn 49th, both very strong performances, as underfoot conditions became increasingly difficult.

Rory Cassidy ran the Junior 6000m race finishing in 58th place. Rory fought hard throughout the race, losing his spike with a lap to go. Nicky Foley and Adrian Reville both took on the challenge of running the Novice 6000m race. Nicky finished in 90th and Adrian was 105th. Great to see our adult members stepping up and competing at Leinster level.

Good luck to all our athletes competing in the Leinster Juvenile Uneven Ages and Senior Cross Country Championships in Ferbane, Co. Offaly next Saturday.
