Kilmore: Camogie news - Kilross Gaels under-16 s will play their shield final against Ballygarret on Saturday, October 26, at 11am. Venue has not yet been decided but will be posted on our Facebook page as soon as we have confirmation.

We would like to thank everybody who contributed to our successful clothes collection last weekend, it is a vital fundraiser for our club and we very much appreciate the support.

Fashion Show

There will be a Fundraising Fashion Show on in the Riverbank House Hotel on Tuesday, November 12, with doors open at 7.30 p.m. Tickets cost €12.50 (including a glass of Prosecco on arrival).Clothes from Pamela Scott, Brendan Corcoran, Barnados Bridal, Charley's and Clothesline will be modelled on the night. The proceeds from which will go towards the Tomhaggard social centre and Women's Shed. Tickets on sale and are available at 087 2840272 and from committee members.

Scouts

Kilmore Scouts had a fantastic outing to Fossets Circus last Wednesday with approximately 90 Youth members, Scouters and families attending their Opening Night in Wexford. It was a first experience of the Circus for many young people and some older attendees had a trip down memory lane.

Art class

Interested in learning Watercolour Painting or improving your skills? Classes in Tomhaggard Social Centre Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and in Murrintown Thursday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. - for details contact Maria at 086 3848364.

The casts of our one-act plays are putting the finishing touches to their productions ahead of performances which start next week. Dates as follows.

St Michael's SVP Hall, Thomas St, Wexford Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 25, to October 27, Our Lady's Island Community Centre Saturday, November 2, Ballycogley Hall Saturday, November 9, and Carrig-on-Bannow Community Centre Sunday, November 10. Curtain up at 8 p.m. each night with an admission of €10 at the door nightly. We look forward to your support folks.

Kilmore AC

CROSS COUNTRY IN COOLGREANY - All roads led to Coolgreany on Sunday for the Mr Oil County Juvenile Uneven Ages and Senior Cross Country championship, hosted by Croghan AC This was one of the most difficult courses in recent years, for both juveniles and seniors. All the Kilmore athletes performed superbly.

Kilmore AC regained their Women's Senior Team title that they had lost to DMP AC in 2018. Fiona Kehoe won the 5k race, Jackie Carthy was second, Sharon Cloney was fourth and Helen Doyle was fifth. What a fantastic team effort. Adrian Reville finished in 51st position in the Senior Men's 10000m race.

In the juvenile races, Kate Fortune finished eighth in the girls under-11 1500m. Rayna Thompson was fourth in the girls under-13 2500m race and Katie Foley was sixth. In the girls under-15 3500m race, Freya Thompson was second. Arwyn Thompson was fifth and Kate O'Flaherty was ninth. In the boys under-17 5000m race, Cian Doyle was 10th.

GOOD LUCK - Good luck to Fiona Kehoe and Jackie Carthy competing in the autumn International Open Cross Country in Abbotstown, Dublin, next weekend on the National Cross Country Course. This race serves as a trial for the Masters International Cross Country in Aintree, England in November.

COUCH TO 5K - Couch to 5k is now back every Monday at 7 p.m. in Kilmore GAA Grounds. All adults welcome to come along, improve their fitness with the ultimate aim of running 5k.

TRAINING - We are now back training. Younger Juveniles training on Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6.30 p.m. in Kilmore GAA Grounds. Older juveniles and seniors start at 7 p.m. Training every Sunday morning at 10 a.m., location confirmed in parents WhatsApp group. New members, aged seven in year of competition always welcome, contact Mary at 087 7564888.

Active Retirement notes

We held our delayed monthly meeting on Thursday last in the GAA clubrooms with Tom Dunne presiding. At the outset sympathy was extended to the family of Breda Whelan a former member who died recently. Best wishes for a speedy return to health were extended to Frances Moore and John Currie, both of whom were in hospital during the week.

Our tenpin bowlers competed in the South East Region ARA competition on Wednesday in Leisuremax but did not get on the podium, competing were Noel and Margaret Howlin, Agnes Behan and John Foley. Our quiz team tied with Tullow in the final of the South East Region during the week but lost out in a sudden death by one point. Team was Des and Agnes Behan, Anne Lawless and Brendan Hamilton. The Gulls bowling team went down by two points in the county bowls league to Ferns on Tuesday; team was Margaret Howlin, Tom Dunne, Agnes Behan and Anne Lawless. Our Christmas lunch and fun table quiz was fixed for Wednesday, December 4.

Other events planned: a visit to the Bord Gais theatre in Dublin to see 'The Sound of Music', members wishing to travel should indicate so at our December meeting. A trip to the Titanic exhibition in Belfast will be held in the Spring with an overnight stopover. A table quiz is to be held in aid of the Wexford Hospice Home Care in the early part of 2020. A donation was agreed to be sent to 'Wexford People Helping People'. Next meeting Thursday, November 7, at 7.30 p.m.

Seminar

Fr Jim Cogley will host a one-day seminar entitled Healing, The Deeper Journey on Saturday, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the new Conference Room overlooking the lake in Our in Our Lady's Island Community Centre. Coffee Shop

Community Coffee Shop - New opening hours: Sat and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. We stayed open an extra month this year and it has proven to be a great success, we hope you will continue to join us at weekends. Thank you all for your continued support.

Youth Club

Youth Club is on every Friday night in Lady's Island Community Centre 7.45 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. All first years upwards are welcome from our parish and surrounding areas. If you would like more info or have any queries contact Louise Morris 087 2053305.

Split-the-pot Congratulations to Kevin Newport on winning €102 in last week's split-the-pot draw. Envelopes available in O'Dohertys, Meylers and Rosslare HbrPost office. Draw takes place in Community Hall after Sunday Mass.

Hospice coffee morning

The ICA are hosting a coffee morning on Thursday, October 31, in Island Bar from 10 a.m. to midday, in aid of Hospice Homcare. Your support will be much appreciated.

Clothes Collection

Please donate to the Old Clothes Collection, in aid of Scoil Mhuire - drop in your old clothes, towels, curtains, shoes (tied together), bedding (no pillows or duvets). Donations can be dropped in to school from 9.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. Closing date November 8.

Christmas Gifts

Why not go with handmade/crafted goods for your choice of gifts this year. You have a great selection on your doorstep in your local Community Centre Coffee Shop which is open every weekend (Sat/Sun) for the month of October. Products are all locally made. Come in and have a browse it may not cost you anything except maybe a lovely cup of tea or coffee.

Appeal for old books about Our Lady's Island, the older the better. If we could borrow and we will take special care of them and photocopy, then we will return them to you. Contact Louise Morris 087 2053305.

St Paul's AC

Over the last two weekends the Mr Oil Juvenile Cross Country took place, our numbers were low but congratulations and well done to all who competed. Day one was even age groups and was hosted by United Striders AC in JFK Park on a lovely sunny Sunday.

Results: under-10 Catherine O'Leary third place, under-10 boys Matej Sumec third, Conor Gaul and Tadgh Wright were just outside the medals. Under-12 boys Peter Stevanova sixth and under-14 boys Jakub Sumec in 11th Place just outside the medals also. Day two was hosted by Croghan AC in Coolgreany and we had two athletes braving the weather under-11 girls saw Catherine O'Leary in action again this week and finished in sixth place and in the under-11 boys Artem Kelly was competing and finished in 11th place. Congratulations and well done, great running from these young athletes.

This Sunday our neighbouring athletic club Adamstown are hosting their annual Open Cross Country, full details are on our Facebook page. Full training has now resumed Mondays and Wednesdays 5.30 p.m. 6.30 p.m. for our younger athletes and 6.30 p.m. 7.30 p.m. for all our older athletes, new members welcome.

Rathangan-Cleariestown

Community lotto

There was no jackpot winner this week. There were Four match-three winner's. The winning numbers were 1, 6, 21 and 26. The winner's were Martin Dwyer Rathangan Parish Development, Denah Ryan St Fintan's GAA Club, Gabriel Kavanagh Cleariestown Community Council and Anne Mullins St Fintan's GAA Club. The next lotto draw will be held on Tuesday, October 22, and the jackpot now stands at €4,400.00

Split-the-pot

Last week's split-the-pot winner was Tossy Ryan winning €149. Next draw will take place on October 24 in the Wheelhouse Bar, Baldwinstown. Thank you for your support.

Clothing collection

Cleariestown Community Playgroup will be having a Fundraising used clothing collection on Monday, November 25. Due to new regulations we can no longer accept bed linen, towels, curtains and soft toys. Please donate all your clean unwanted clothes, shoes, bags, belts. You can drop off any items at the playschool any weekday morning between 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. All proceeds from this collection will go directly to the parish council to help with the running costs of our playroom within the community centre. Thank you for your support.

Sympathy

We extend sympathy to Regina Sinnott, Gibberpatrick on the death of her mother Breda Whelan, Rackardstown, Kilmore, who died last week. May she rest in peace.
