Funding for C & S Centre/golf club

It's been a good news week for Rosslare Strand. The community and Sports Centre has secured funding of €32,189 through the Sports Capital Expenditure scheme to carry out much needed refurbishments to the tennis courts. Sincere thanks are due to Cllr Ger Carthy, whose continued support and representation has been instrumental in securing this grant. Thanks too to Minister Paul Kehoe and to Cllr Jim Moore for their input.

Rosslare Golf Club have also been successful in their bid to secure funding through the Scheme; a grant has been allocated to help finance irrigation works to the course.

Active Retirement

At our last coffee morning we had Frances Walsh give a talk on positive ageing. This was very interesting and it was great to have such a good turnout and from the feedback it was enjoyed by all.

Our next outing is coming up shortly when a group of twenty five will travel by coach to Dáil Éireann and the Epic Centre with an evening meal in the Ashdown Park Hotel on the return journey. Following that some of our members will join with Piercestown Active Retirement for a day out shopping at Kildare Village and Whitewater Shopping Centre and our 'serious shoppers' are looking forward to the day out with our Piercestown colleagues on December 3.

Our next meeting will be held on December 10 and the following week December 17 we will enjoy mince pies at our February. Before the lunch our AGM will be held in Coast Hotel on January 14 when we hope to see all members attend to elect a new committee and deal with any ongoing issues. In the meantime we have our coffee mornings each Tuesday at 10.30 a.m. in Coast Hotel, which are very well attended and we hope to welcome new members.
