St Patrick's Thrift Fund

As most of you now know and by order from the Central Bank, sadly all Thrift Funds have to come to an end. This is a decision that is totally out of our control. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Railway Social Club for the use of their premises and a sincere thank you to all those who saved with us down through the years.

The final collection date for St Patrick's Thrift Fund is Saturday, November 24. All cards must be also handed in on this date so they can be processed for pay out.

Last but by no means least, a very special thank you to all the ladies who have given up their time voluntarily to organise and collect the Thrift Fund, your hard work and dedication is very much appreciated.

Bereavements

The very sad and untimely passing of Maura Pierce, Colville St, Rosslare Harbour has caused deep sadness to her family, neighbours and many friends. Maura, who passed away on Monday, October 29, had worked in the Railway Social Club for most of her career. She was a very warm and friendly lady, always ready with her camera for social occasions. Maura's funeral Mass was celebrated in St Patrick's church by Fr Diarmuid Desmond and she was laid to rest in St Aidan's cemetery. She is deeply missed by her sisters Joan and Stella, brother Joe, sister-in-law Rose, brother-in-law Johnny, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Josie Doyle (née Wickham) Barryville Court, passed away in the presence of her family at Our Lady's Hospice, Harold's Cross on Tuesday, November 6. Josie, who was a native of Kilmore Quay, was the beloved wife of the late Tommy. They came to retire here some years ago and were a very popular couple in the community. Josie was Tommy's 'Rosslare Rose'. Funeral Mass was celebrated for Josie in the Church of Our Lady of Good Council, Ballyboden followed by prayers in St Patrick's church. She was laid to rest beside her late husband in St Aidan's cemetery, Kilrane. Josie is sadly missed by her children Philomena, Teresa, Anthony and Thomas, brother Ollie, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family, relatives and friends.

We offer our deepest sympathy to Anne Marken and family, Rosslare Strand on the death of Gerry, who passed away on Monday, October 29. Gerry was a valued member of the staff of Culletons, Kilrane some years ago, where he is fondly remembered by everyone.

Sympathy also to Aileen Ironside and family on the death of her Uncle Tom O'Connor a Wexford native, whose death occurred on England.
