Our Lady's Island - Story Night: Storytelling Night in Tacumshane Old School, this Friday, February 1, at 8.30 p.m. Come along, sit back and enjoy the talent, music, song and storytelling. Tea, coffee and cakes at interval. A great night's entertainment promised.

Sadly our post office closed on Friday last and as a small gesture of thanks to Áine Scallan for her many years of service to this community, we will have a little 'get together' in the Community Hall on Sunday, February 3, after Mass. All are welcome to come along for cuppa, chat etc. Hope to see you all there.

Split-the-pot

Congratulations to Michelle Codd on winning €110 in last week's split-the-pot draw. Envelopes are available in O'Doherty's and will now also be availabe in the Men's Shed before Mass on Sunday mornings. Draw will now take place in Parochial House. Conservatory after Sunday Mass all are welcome for cuppa, chat and draw.

Our Lady's Island GAA Club weekly bingo continues each Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Butler's with a chance to scoop our jackpot which now stands at €650.

GAA lotto

With no jackpot winner last week, tonight's lotto jackpot stands at a cool €17,800. Congratulations to Ber Cullen (seller Keith Rooney) on winning the match-three prize of €200. Get your ticket weekly from members or at local business outlets for just €1.50 each

St Paul's AC

Congratulations and well done to our two under-10 Teams, who competed in the County Juvenile Cross Country Relays in Lingstown last Sunday. Our girls' team finished in third place consisting of Tessa King, Hannah Rose Roche, Rosanna King and Catherine O'Leary. The boys' team were just outside the medals finishing in fourth place David Byrne, Adam Meyler, Marco Vulcevic and Mattie Sumec. Congratulations also to Ger Maloney, who picked up silver in the O'55's individuals.

Best of luck to Sammy Delaney, who is competing in the National Junior Indoor Championships in Athlone on Sunday.

Active Retirement

The next general meeting will be on Tuesday, February 5. The meeting will take place at the Rosslare Railway Social Club at 3 p.m. A Committee Meeting will take place at 2 p.m.

Mairead invites all members to attend the next meeting to discuss the way ahead for 2019 and to consider activities that the group can undertake this year. Anybody, who might be interested in joining the Active Retirement Group is also invited to come along and to contribute ideas for activities.

Members are reminded that the annual subscription, €20, is now due and should be paid at the next meeting.

We are seeking help from a tech savvy volunteer to help set up some IT/Music equipment. New members always welcome. Join us for weekly activities, hang-out, regular outings and great fun with your friends. Youth Club meets every Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rosslare Community Centre.

Scoil Mhuire Rosslare

The school is now enrolling pupils for September 2019. There are a number of ways to enrol; you can call to the school for a Registration Form, download the form from the school's website scoilmhuirerosslare.ie, or phone the office at 053 9132501 to have a form posted to you. Please note completed forms must be returned before February mid-term break (February 21/22)

There is a sale now on at New 2 U Charity Boutique All our winter stock is now available at unbelievably low prices - choose from a great selection of women's and children's clothing. We are open from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Donations are always welcome; any out of hours contributions can be handed into the community centre.

Tidy Towns

Please help us in keeping the village clear of litter by picking the area outside your home/business. We will have the first formal beach clean of the Year in early February; date and times will be published later.

Tidy Towns is part of a nationwide group of volunteers, who enjoy keeping their Villages and Towns looking their best. We welcome New Members; Please feel free to join. Contact Margaret at 086 1257487.

We currently have the following weekly activities in the Cois Barry Community Centre in Rosslare.

MONDAY - 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Art Group Waves; 3.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. Code Club for primary school aged kids (please note we will change times from next week); 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. Youth Club; 7.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. School of trad music.

TUESDAY - 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Crochet Club; 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Getting On the Road - Driver Theory Training and Test practice and Road Safety course; 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Drums; 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Beginners' Guitar.

WEDNESDAY - 11 a.m. to midday Computer Skills for Beginners of all ages; 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. Intermediate Guitar (kids); 5.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Intermediate Guitar (adults).

Befriending Group

This is a free service offering companionship to older people through weekly visits and telephone calls.

Volunteers are trained by 'Alone', and are Garda vetted and reference checked. We complement other services such as home help, homecare etc., but do not replace them. Self-referrals and professional referrals are welcome.

Breakfast Morning

We would like to thank everyone that made our breakfast morning such a success. A special thank you to everyone who gave their time on a very busy morning. We hope to do it again in the summer.

Ladies' night

Mark your calendars. We will be running out ladies' night this year on Thursday, March 28, at the fabulous Coast Rosslare Strand hotel. We have already got very strong interest in stalls for the night so if you are interested in a stall for the night call 053 9132624 as soon as possible as places are limited. All proceeds in aid of St Mary's Day Centre.

Condolences

We would like to send our condolences to the family and friends of May Howlin and Des Rea. Both were patrons of St Mary's Day Centre and will be sadly missed. We extend our deepest sympathies to all bereaved.
