Active Retirement

Our weekly coffee mornings continue each Tuesday at 10.30 a.m. in Coast hotel. Our numbers are increasing each week so hopefully it will continue along those lines for July and August. Our next outing will be on Tuesday, August 13, when we will travel by train to board the Dublin Bay Cruise from Sir John Rogerson's Quay to Howth where we plan to have a relaxing lunch before we return by train to Rosslare. As numbers on the boat are limited it has now transpired that we need to book in advance, so anyone wishing to travel please ring 086 1917190 to be included. The cost of the boat is €30 and a deposit of €6 secures your place. We are hoping to finalise numbers this week.

St Mary's camogie club

The under-12s played Horeswood in their third game of the season and had an impressive win on a scoreline of 6-02 to 1-01. Horeswood were a few short so great credit to Ashley, Lauren, Ella, Ally, Aoibheann and Katie, who helped them out at different times of the match. All the girls played their hearts out in very warm conditions. The girls passed well, worked as a team, supported each other and most importantly all had fun. Thanks to everyone for their commitment. There are such great numbers playing. Keep up the good work.

The Junior B team were in championship action in Tagoat. Result: Kilross Gaels 5-12 Oulart-The Ballagh 3-03. Well done to all the players and management team.

The under-14s had a challenge match away to St Martin's in Piercestown. The girls came up against a strong side who are a few divisions ahead of them and despite a slow start put in a fantastic second half performance. This game set the girls up nicely for the next championship outing.

Fresh from that challenge match the under-14s were in championship action against Kilmore. Result St Mary's Rosslare 6-03 Kilmore 4-07. Scorers; Sophie Colfer 2-01, Alanna Culleton 2-01, Eimear O'Neill 1-01 and Ruby Lambert 1-0. In a highly entertaining and very competitive championship game in Tagoat we definitely saved the best till last. Despite being underdogs before the game we were all square at half time but our group of girls were determined we weren't going to be beaten on home ground. Belief was the word and you girls believed in yourselves getting just rewards and a two point win for your hard work. Chloe in goal made great saves in the first half and the puck outs were brilliant. Our backs, Tegan, Grace, Eabha, Aoife, Niamh and Sophie battled hard winning dirty ball and never once gave up. Our midfield trio of Ruby, Alanna and Sophie were on fire with team work second to none. Our fierce forwards, Susan, Sophie, Amy, Eimear, Aoife, Doireann challenged for every ball and made life impossible for the Kilmore defence. Not forgetting Aoife S, Chloe K and our injured captain Kate, who never once stopped supporting you, encouraging you and cheering from the sideline - these girls carried you over the line as much as those on the field. Be proud girls of what was a truly brilliant team display.
