Around Wexford town

Library - Saturday June 15 will be a busy day for children with two yoga classes in the morning, and a samba-drumming workshop in the afternoon.

Award-winning author Niamh Boyce visits the Library on Tuesday June 18 to discuss her latest book 'Her Kind' which is based on the true story of the first witch trial in Europe, which was in Kilkenny.

Book launch

The launch of local author Sheila Forsey's (nee Devereux) latest book 'Kilbride House' takes place in the Book Centre on Friday June 14 at 6.30 p.m.

Golf classic

Na Fianna Clonard GAA is holding its Annual Golf Classic on Friday June 14 in Wexford Golf Club. It costs €160 per team of four which includes dinner after your round of golf.

Variety show

The Wedges variety concert takes place on Wednesday June 26 at 7.30 p.m. in the clubhouse of Wexford Golf Club. Ticket price €10.

Splash

CAN and Wexford Swimming Pool are running a splash class for children between the ages of 3-4 on the Autism Spectrum. Parents/Carers will join their kids in the water for some water based activities along with some educational but fun water safety tips. The instructor will take part in games to build your child's confidence. Simple games like blowing bubbles, ring a rosie, and jumping in will be taught alongside floating and kicking exercises to show you how to give your child the best possible start to swimming. Please book your ticket through eventbrite and then pay the €6 class fee on arrival at the swimming pool.

Rising Sons

On Friday June 14 in Sinnott's Bar, Distillery Road, George Murphy & The Rising Sons perform. The group is made up of 14 musicians, singers and instrumentalists. The music is a mix of Irish folk and ballads with cojones. Admission €10.

Mini maestros

Children aged 1-5 are invited to Wexford Arts Centre for some pre-school musicianship with Aileen Donohoe and Peter McCamley every Wednesday throughout June starting tomorrow.

Including singing, movement, drums, bongos, chimes, castanets, maracas, claves, bells, glockenspiel, boom-whackers, piano and guitar these classess provide a fun and interactive curriculum taught by trained professional with many years' experience in early musical education.

Children will also partake in their first orchestral experience, learning to play a variety of instruments, sing and recognise musical notation. Attendance €10 adult, €5 child. Contact 053 912 3764

Bridgetown Junior Youth Club presents fundraising bingo, Sunday June 16 at 5 p.m. in the FDYS Centre Bridgetown. All are welcome.

On Saturday June 15 Fiann Ó Nualláin hosts 'Nature's Wellness' at the Natural Health Store at 24 North Main St. Fiann is a medicinal botanist and wellness guru. He has just finished his fifth book, A Quick Cuppa Herbal.

A fantastic guide book to making the perfect Herbal Tea to suit your ailment. If you love your garden, and you love your tea you will enjoy meeting Fiann. He will talk you through some of his favourite teas and share some tips. His latest book will be available to purchase on the day.

Movie night

The Habla Spanish Institute in Channing House, Upper Rowe St is hosting a Spanish Movie Night on Friday June 14 at 7.30 p.m. The movie being shown is 'Campeones' a comedy inspired by a team created with people with intellectual disabilities which won twelve Spanish championships between 1999 and 2014. It will be shown in Spanish with English subtitles. This is a free event.

Celtic Tenors

On Friday June 28 from 6 p.m. the Celtic Tenors play at St Peter's College, Wexford. A fundraiser for the school's sports development, support on the night comes from the Loch Garman Band. Tickets €30, contact 053 914 2071

Basciville

Local band Basciville play Crown Live on Saturday, June 15 at 9 p.m. Basciville formed in 2016, when brothers Cillian and Lorcan Byrne began creating music together. Since that time the duo has formulated their own unique blend of rhythm and blues with jazz, folk and orchestral harmony. Tickets €15.
