The jackpot in the St Fintans GAA lotto now stands at €15,000 and tickets may be purchased from local shops and from club members at a cost of €1.50. A match three prize of €300 is also up for grabs each week and Noel Kelly and John Goff shared in this prize last week with the following numbers drawn 2, 8, 17, 29.


Training in both hurling and football for u-6 players of the St Fintans GAA club has commenced in Ballymore and will take place each Monday evening from 6.307.30pm. All boys and girls u-6 are welcome and please note that hurling and football will take place each evening.


The Ballycogley players will hold an end of season night out in Green Acres Lounge Tenacre on Friday April 27th at 9pm. All group members are requested to attend. Finger food will be served. Please confirm your intention to attend by contacting 087 9680419.


A cake sale and raffle will be held on Saturday May 4th in Mayglass before and after 7.30pm mass, in aid of the Mayglass church restoration fund. Donations of confectionary would be gratefully appreciated.


There will be a fundraising car boot sale in Mayglass church car park on Saturday April 28th from 8am-1pm.admission is €2 with children €10, vans €15 and large vans €20, with gates open to traders from 7.30am. Proceeds are in aid of the Mayglass church restoration fund.there will be further car boot sales on the following dates May 26th, June 30th, July 28th and August 25th. A very sucessful easter raffle was held during the recent past in aid of the Mayglass church restoration fund.the following were the lucky winners of the hampers,mary Doyle, Amy Scallan, Mary Tennant, Joseph Carley, Kelly Ann Gill and Brendan Pollard. Thanks for your support.


An Irish night will be held in the Halfway House Ballycogley on Friday April 27th with Eoghnie and friends. More details will be furnished next week and a cover charge of €2 will apply ,there will also be a door prize and raffle on the night. Proceeds are in aid of the Mayglass church restoration fund.

Its great to see local man Jamie Codd back in the winners enclosure with regularity. Jamie had suffered a serious leg injury early on in this years' point to point season.


Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Rose Doyle (nee Delaney), Greenfield, Killinick. Rose sadly lost her young life during the past week. May she rest in peace.


The local Killinick I.C.A guild held its annual general meeting during the first week of April at which the following committee was elected: President-margaret Keane, Secretary-teresa Pettit, TreasurerBreda Wright, Pro-leish Mc Donnell and Competition secretary-mary Sinnott.

This was also the guild's monthly meeting at which it was decided that six members would attend the federation meeting in Ourlart on April 30th. The guild will form part of the fundraising fun walk on May 13th with the proceeds going to Cancer research. The walk will commence at the Stella Maris hall Kilmore Quay at 2pm.

Last month's competition for the nicest neck piece was won by Margo Finn, 2nd Breda Wright and 3rd Aine Sheehan. The competition for the next meeting on May 7th is for the nicest cup and saucer.


There will be an open public meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous in Bridgetown social centre (AOH hall)on Tues May 1st at 8.30pm. Visiting speakers from AA and Al,anon 9 for families and friends of alcoholics will attend. Complimentary tea and coffee will be served. All are welcome


The sacrament of Confirmation will take place in Ballymore church on Wednesday May 2nd at 11am and will be administered by Most Rev. Bishop Denis Brennan. This year we have twenty children for confirmation and preparation for this sacrament has been ongoing for quite awhile in school and in the church.we hope it is a happy and fine day for all of the children,their parents and their families as this marks their growth through adolescence into adulthood.
