BANNOW/ BALLYMITTY

COISTE NA NOG

Bannow/Ballymitty Coiste na nOg held their A.G.M. last Thursday night January 13. Outgoing chairman pat Cullen welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked his fellow officers for their hard work and dedication during the pat year. He went on to thank all the managers and selectors of all teams. A minute's silence was observed for the late Michaela Hearte. Pat went on to congratulate all tams that had brought silverware to the club in 2010 and hopefully we will se more of it in 2011.

The election of officers followed and the following were elected: President Billy Howlin, Vice President Mike Harper, Chairman pat Cullen, Secretary Martina Fitzharris, Assistant secretary Brid White, Treasurer Chris Cummins, P.R.O. Brid White, District and County Board Reps Pat Cullen and Paddy Cogley.

The Chairman went on to say that it is of the utmost importance that more parents get involved at underage level. We have a large number of very young children in the club and these need to be nurtured in order to develop their skills and for this to happen we need the help of parents, aunts, uncles, so we are asking for the sake of your children we need parents to help out in any way, and anyone wishing to do so can contact Pat on 051-563545 or 087-2429507. If there is anyone out there who would be willing to help with the underage kids but you do not have any child in the club you are more than welcome, just contact Pat on any of the above numbers.

The team managers were elected as follows: Minors Hurling and Football - to be announced, U-16/juveniles hurling and football Christy Hannon, U-14's football and hurling Stevie Power, U-12 hurling and football Chris Cummins, U-10 hurling and Football Paddy Cogley and Colm O'Grady, U-8 hurling and football Kathleen Quirke and U-6 hurling and football Tom Cullen.

Membership is now due and can be paid to Chris Cummins, Chris will be in the Sports Centre on Monday nights 7.30pm to 8.30pm. Tuesday night's 7.30pm to 8.30pm Wednesday night's 8.30pm to 9.30pm. DRAW RESULTS

The Bannow/Ballymitty G.A.A. Club Christmas Draw raised €3,240 for club funds. We would like to thank the Sponsors of the prizes, the ticket-sellers and everyone who supported the draw.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Community Games draughts takes place in Galbally Community Centre on Saturday January 22, registration for U-12 and U-14's is at 4 p.m. sharp, while registration for U-10's is 6 p.m. sharp, we ask all players to be there on time for their registration. We would also like to acknowledge the award of €600 from Sports Active Wexford.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to J.R. Finn and Mary O'Sullivan, Tullycanna, on the birth of their little boy recently.

VINTAGE PLOUGHING

The Bannow/ Rathangan Vintage Ploughing that took place in Rathangan on Sunday January 2 was a great success. A total of €6,971 was raised on the day and the cheque was presented to Margaret McDonald of Wexford Hospice Homecare in Sinnott's Pub, Duncormick that night. The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported them on the day.

SCHOOL ENROLMENT

Any parent wishing to enrol a pupil in Danescastle N.S. fro September 2011 may collect an enrolment form from the school secretary, forms should be returned to the school by January 31, 2011.

SET DANCING

Anyone interested in Set Dancing in Carrig Community Centre, contact Maura on 087-6395675 or Marie on 0879709901, in we have enough interested we will commence on Thursday nights from 8-10 p.m.

BENEFIT NIGHT

Bob Lambert and friends are holding a benefit night on Wednesday February 2 in the riverside Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, a bus will leave Carrig at 7 p.m., anyone interested please contact Wendy on 0862052168 for more information.

DRAWING CLASSES

Drawing is the base of every artistic practice. In this course you will experience different techniques and media, extra places from January (begin January 21) till Easter in Carrig Community centre every Friday from 11 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. contact Els on086-0369114 or Wendy on 086-2052168.

CHILDREN'S ART

From January 22 there are two sessions of six creative art classes every Saturday from 10.30 to 12 in Carrig. The workshops will take place in Carrig Community Centre and are open to every child from 7-14 years, contact Els on 086-0369114 or Wendy on 086-2052168.

CABARET

A Cabaret in aid of Ballymitty Handball Club will be held in Tir na nOg, Wellingtonbridge this Saturday night January 22 at 9.30 p.m.

This is a great opportunity for past players of the club and other clubs who often battled it out in the alley to meet up again and take a trip down handballs memory lane. Music is by the brilliant Country Boys followed by DJ Brian O'Brien. With refreshments and door prizes, admission is only €5, and your support would be very much appreciated.

TAI CHI CLASSES

Tai Chi Classes are in Carrig Community Centre every Tuesday morning at 10.30 a.m., contact Wendy on 086-2052168.

CAMOGIE CLUB A.G.M.

The A.G.M. of Bannow/Ballymitty Camogie Club was held on Friday January 7. There was a good attendance but if was difficult to get people to do officers jobs but thanks to the people who decided to keep the club going for 2011.

The following officers were elected: Chairperson Sadie Howlin, Secretary Breda O'Sullivan, Joint Treasurers Claire Harper and Dianne Bennett, Registrar Breda O'Sullivan, P.R.O. Sadie Howlin, County Board Reps Breda O'Sullivan and Sadie Howlin, girls to represent adult players to be picked.

People to take charge of teams for 2011 as follows: U-8 Aine Kennedy, U-10 Diane and Noel Bennett and Aine Kennedy, U-12 Claire Harper, Noel Bennett and Albert O'Grady, U-14 and U-16 Davy McDonald and Albert O'Grady, U-18 and Junior A Tom Culleton, Johnny Browne and John Gleeson. Membership is now due: Players €80, Students €50, U-18's €20, U-14 €10, Family€80 and non player €30. Thanks to Michael Wallace for the use of his premises and for the lovely tea.

Members of staff attended a defibrillator-training course in the centre on Wednesday 12.
