MONTHS MIND

The Month's Mind for John Joe Galvin, who died on March 18 last, will be celebrated on Saturday, April 30 at 7.30 p.m. in St Peter's Church, Ballymitty.

This Mass will also mark the fourth anniversary of the death of his father, Podge Galvin.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to the 50 children from the parish who received the sacrament of confirmation on Friday April 15th from Monsignor Joe McGrath in Carrig on Bannow Church.

WANTED

To help celebrate 125 yeas since our GAA Club was first formed, please root out all your photographs and memorabilia and pass them on to Anne Farrell. HANDBALL

Ballymitty Handball Club extends sympathy to the Galvin Family; on the tragic death of john Joe who was a very skilful handballer and would have gone on to win many honours in the game, may he rest in peace.

DAFFODIL DAY

The total collected in the parish for Daffodil Day was €800, thanks to all who contributed and all who helped in any way.

PARISH CLEAN UP

The clean up is gong well and will continue up to Easter. If roads are not done please contact Nicola on 087-6859868 or Joseph on 086-0465818 to organise it.

I.C.A. NEWS

Carrig on Bannow I.C.A. Guild held their monthly meeting on Monday April 11 in the Community Centre. We would like to thank our guest speaker on the night Pauline Dunne from Killowen Yoghurts who gave a very informative talk on the making of yoghurt and its many culinary uses; it was a very enjoyable evening. The Guild and local community who joined on the night enjoyed a lovely tea afterwards the raffle was won by the following: Jo Foley, Maudie Walsh, Mai Sweetman, Eileen Furlong, Eileen Walsh, Mary Staunton and Agnes O'Dwyer. The next meeting will be held on Monday May 16 at 8.30 p.m. in the community centre.

SCRAP METAL

A scrap metal collection will take place at Corach Ramblers Soccer Pitch on Saturday April 30; all type of scrap will be accepted for further information contact Breda on 087-1600328.

GRANTSTOWN NEWS

The B.O.M. at Grantstown wish all staff, residents and clients a peaceful and Happy Easter, the centre will be closed Monday April 25 and also Monday May 2 due to Bank Holidays. Hairdresser and Chiropodist available to the community, for more details phone 051-561016, also in house baking bread cakes etc every Wednesday morning, orders before Wednesday on 051-561016. Easter raffle draw takes place on Tuesday April 19 between 2-3 p.m.

KILTRA SCHOOL OF MUSIC

The Kiltra School of Music will present its 2011 school concert in Carrig-on-Bannow Community Centre on Sunday May 1 at 3 p.m. admission is €10 and all are welcome, thank you for your generous support.

TIDY TOWNS

The A.G.M. of Carrig-on-Bannow Tidy Town will take place on Thursday May 4 at 9 p.m. It's nice to see the village looking so well and there is so much more we can do if we get some help for the villagers, so please for the sake of our village come along to the meeting, everyone is welcome.

BANNOW/RATHANGAN SHOW

This year the show takes place in Killag Duncormick on Thursday July 14 so mark the date in your diary, it's only 12 weeks away.

VINTAGE RUN

A Vintage Run in aid of cancer patient Ann Cahill will take place on Saturday April 30 at 2pm sharp. It will start in Wellingtonbridge and travel various routes. Entry fee is ?20. For more information please contact Claire on 087 9516092
