Fr. Sean Cullen will be home in his native parish in July of this year and we are arranging a little celebration for him, as this is the year of his Golden Jubilee of his ordination. On Friday July 27 mass will be celebrated in Ballymitty Church at 7.30 p.m., and there will be refreshments afterwards in Ballymitty Hall and everyone is most welcome so please come along and join Fr. Sean on this very special occasion.


Our U-10 girls played their first league match last Saturday in Grantstown against a strong Shelmaliers team. These matches were played inside due to poor weather conditions. Once again we played two games with a total of 17 girls. The Red team played their hears out and won by a s core of 5-1 to 1-0. Team was as follows: Ciara Anglim, April Moran, Rebecca Roche, Maxine Byrne, Niamh Millar, Aisling Waters 2-1, Shannon Anglim 2-0, Rebecca Stafford 1-0, Therese Keating and Sophie Scallan.

Up next was the Black Team and they too played their hears out and came away with a god 2 goals to no score. Team as follows: Emily Moran, Annamae Carroll, Eleanor Aldridge 1-0, Sarah Galvin, Grainne Foley, Daniella Kinsella 1-0, well done girls and keep up the great work.

Junior and U-16 games will be starting now as soon as exams are over. U-14's play Oylegate in the Championship on Saturday June 23 with time and venue to be decided. The patron and Filed Day takes place in Ballymitty on Sunday June 24 beginning with prayers at 2 p.m.


A 12K road race the trip to Cullenstown will take place on Friday July 27 at 7 p.m. in conjunction with the Phil Murphy weekend. Entries on line €10 or the day €15,


Boxercise classes in Ballymitty now on Monday mornings at 10am, and Wednesday night at 7pm in Ballymitty hall.

A Parent and Toddler group is up and running in Ballymitty Playgroup 2 mornings per week Tuesdays and Thursdays, all are welcome.

We are now looking for volunteers that would like to help deliver meals on wheels to senior citizens in the local community on Tuesday and/or Thursdays, if you may be interested please ring 051-561016 for more information.

Memories from Home Project using clay, paint and combined materials with community artists Mary Wallace in conjunction with Wexford County Council to start Mondays 1-3 p.m./ from July 16 to December. Ballymitty Patron and Field Day will be on June 24 with prayers at 2 p.m. Carrig patron August 12 and Bannow august 15 and Shemogues August 19.


The Club would like to thank everyone for their support in their recent field day. Thanks to all who set up stalls and looked after them on the day, to the ladies and gentlemen on the teas BBQ to the men on the gate, the mentors of the U-10 squad the sound man and everyone who donated for bottle and any other stall on the day. Also thanks to the parents for bringing the kids on the day a special thank you to the sponsorship from you the parish.

Winners from the 18k bike run were Sean Keating, David Currid, Mary Colfer and George McGee. A great crowd turned out with the first of the riders back in 30 minutes.

The field day too place at 2 p.m. with lots of activities to keep everyone entertained. The U-10 Ted White cup was won by Cushinstown, weight of cake by Eileen Walsh, raffle for picture by John Bennett and €50 for Wallace's Tommy Keating.


The GAA club are proud to present '2 Tuff Yokes' in Carrig Hall on Wednesday June 27, tickets are €15 Seamus Moore and Pat Hayes are the '2 Tuff Yokes' and concerts starts at 8.30 p.m. hope to see you all there.


The Bannow Historical Society held their A.G.M. on Monday June 11 at Tir na nog, Wellingtonbridge. Chairman Rich Howlin opend the meeting and thanked all fellow officers for their work during the year and welcomed all to the A.G.M. He mentioned the Successful events of the year such as the historical tour in July 2011 and Christmas Dinner at the Stanville Lodge in December last. Society members enjoyed these events very much. He also thanked two guest speakers who gave talks during the year.

New officers were elected at follows: Chairman Rich Howlin, vice chair Anne Farrell, secretary Dermot McCarthy, treasurer Mary Colfer, P.R.O. Kevin Murphy, committee Mary Stafford, Margaret Quigley, Mary Flynn, john Harpur, Denis Kenny, Eamonn Furlong, Jimmy Whitty and Rich Donnelly.


Members of the Wellingtonbridge class are invited to join together with family and friends and weighlighter members from across the county on Sunday July 1 for a fun filled 10k walk around the beautiful Raven Wood Loop at Curracloe. The sponsored walk is being held in order to raise much needed funds for the Hope cancer Support centre in Ennisocrthy. The walk begins at 11.30 a.m. at entrance to the Raven Woood and will be followed by a healthy picnic for added tam spirit wear purple on the day and all are welcome, for more information contact Frances on 051-560709.
