BANNOW/ BALLYMITTY

GOLDEN JUBILEE

Fr. Sean Cullen will be home in his native parish in July of this year and we are arranging a little celebration for him, as this is the year of his Golden Jubilee of his ordination. On Friday July 27 mass will be celebrated in Ballymitty Church at 7.30 p.m., and there will be refreshments afterwards in Ballymitty Hall and everyone is most welcome so please come along and join Fr. Sean on this very special occasion.

HANDBALL CLUB

For the first time since the club was formed in 1982, Ballymitty have over 30 juvenile players in training at the moment and coaches Alan Diskin, JR Finn, Seamus O'Neill, Jimmy Moran, Alan O'Neill, Timmy Barnwell and Ciara Maddock who is coaching the girls are very happy with the progress they are making. County Senior Coach Gavin Buggy will also be helping out with training.

Niamh Miller and dean O'Neill are the two youngest players to bring handball glory to the parish. This year Niamh won the girls U-10 and Dean won the boys U10 County Championships last week. We would like to see more boys and girls from Carrig School playing handball. Coaching is every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with evening coaching starting soon.

The Handball Club extends sincere sympathy to the French Family on the death of John, May he rest in peace.

BOXERCISE CLASSES

Boxercise classes in Ballymitty now on Monday mornings at 10am, and Wednesday night at 7pm in Ballymitty hall. Tae Kwon do classes also available Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm. For more information call John on 086 3893382, or email on johnlindaphillips@hotmail.com

TABLE QUIZ

There is a Table Quiz in Stafford's of Tullicana on Wednesday July 18 at 9 p.m. in aid of the Goff School of Dancing travel fund. Raffle on the night includes prize of soar view system plus many more prizes, table of four €20.

Putting Green: We have now introduced a Putting Green for residents. But we do need putters. If anybody has a few spare golf cubs we would very much appreciate it if you could kindly donate them to us, thank you!

COMMUNITY CENTRE A.G.M.

The A.G.M. of Carrig Community Centre will take place on Tuesday July 17 at 8.30 p.m. in the centre. We hope a representative of each organisation who uses the centre can attend, looking forward to seeing you.

PHIL MURPHY WEEKEND

The Phil Murphy Weekend is celebrating its 21st music festival of its launch and the launch of the Parish Journal 'Our Parish' on Thursday July 26 in Carrig Community Centre.

On Friday night Dolores Keane will perform in the community centre at 8 p.m. On Friday evening we have the 12k trip to Cullenstown stating at Carrig Cross, on line entries to philmlurphyweekend@hotmail.com.

Saturday morning starts off with the Bannow Historical tour at 9.30 a.m. and workshops continue throughout the day and concert with 'The Stars of the Future' in Colfer's from 2.30 p.m. Concert in the Marquee at 8 p.m. with Jackie Daly, Matt Cranitch, Paul de Grey and many more. Workshops continue on Sunday and Sunday afternoon kids entertainment and street session competition.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Mary Waters, Verneglye, Bannow and her grand daughter Keira Waters, Coolree, Wexford who both celebrated their birthday on July 14. Mary celebrated her 90th while Keira her 23rd. There was a family meal and get together at Keiras residence in Coolree. All, including grand children and great grand children had a wonderful time, many happy returns and good health to both of them.

TABLE QUIZ

A table quiz in aid of Niall Mellon township trust will be held in Sinnott's Pub, Duncormick on Wednesday July 25 at 9 p.m., your support would be greatly appreciated.

PARENT'S COUNCIL

The Bannow parent's Council would like to thank everyone who supported and helped us recently with our recent fundraising. The end of school year disco was a great night and thanks to all the children that turned up and all the parents who worked on the night to make it happen. We would also like to thank everyone who turned up for our recent table quiz.

Raffle winners on the night were: Doris Hynes, Breen Howlin, Gemma Rossiter, John Breen and Christian Cummins.

Congratulations to John and Grainne Moran on the birth of their baby boy Robert recently.

U12 FOOTBALL

Our u12 girls travelled to ballycullane to play gusserane in what was a well matched game. The girls finished in a 2-2 to 1-5 draw. Well done to the girls, Karen Holmes and John Reville.

U10 GIRLS FOOTBALL

Well done to our fantastic little U10 girls who played a very challenging match on Sunday morning against Horsewood Our final score line was Bannow Ballymitty 2-5 Horsewood 1-5, our scorers on the day were Aisling Waters 1-3, Shannon Anglim 1-1 and Niamh Millar 0-1. CORACH RAMBLERS

Corach Ramblers FC AGM will take place Friday July 27 at 8pm in the Club house. Anyone intrested in managing a team this year or helping out in any way please attend as all help is greatly appreciated. The draw for a trip to a premier match will also take place at the AGM so anyone who still hasnt brough back their cards please do so before then.
