BREE/GALBALLY

CHARITY AUCTION

A Charity Auction, in aid of Bree Community Centre, will be held in the centre on Easter Monday.

The Auction takes place at 3pm with viewing from 2pm. Donations for the auction will be accepted from 7pm to 8pm on Holy Saturday, 11am to 12am on Easter Sunday and from 10am to 12 noon on Easter Monday.

Donations may include good quality household (including unwanted gifts), any garden or garage goods. (No used mattresses please). Contact 0868275943, before Holy Saturday, if collection of items is required.

'Slaney Quilters' has donated a beautiful quilt for the Auction. There is €200 reserve on this item.

At 2pm, on the day of the auction there will be a Bric & Brac and Book stall, Cake Sale & Teas served. Any items for these stalls will be gratefully accepted at any of the above times.

TABLE QUIZ

Bree Athletic Club host a Table Quiz in Garry Byrne's Lounge on this Thursday, 21st April at 9pm. Team of 4 is €20. Your support would be appreciated.

HOLY WEEK CEREMONIES

Mass of the Lord's Supper will be in Bree on Thursday evening at 7pm. Mass will be in Bellevue at 7pm and Galbally at 8pm. Celebration of the Lord's Passion on Friday afternoon is at 2.30pm in Bellevue, 3pm in Bree and 4pm in Galbally.

Easter Vigil on Saturday evening is at 8 pm in Galbally and 9pm in Bree. Mass on Easter Sunday morning is at 9am in Bellevue, 10am in Bree and 11am in Galbally. Salt will be blessed at the masses on Easter Sunday morning.

SHAVE OR DYE FUNDRAISER.

A Shave or Dye fundraiser in aid of Irish Cancer Society will be held in Ryan's Lounge, Galbally this Saturday night. Music by 'The Hot Asphalt'.

BALLYHOGUE HANDBALL

Well done to Peter Hughes Ballyhogue and Paul Lambert St Mary's who won the All Ireland Junior Doubles title recently when they beat Roscommon 21-10, 2112. Best of luck to the Ballyhogue Handball doubles teams who all qualified for their respective County finals to be held in St Joseph's, Wexford on Easter Sunday. Colm Parnell and Cian Wickham (U11), Enda Minogue and Anthony Butler (U12) and Kenneth Riordan and Liam Rossiter (U13).

RESTORATION DRAW

Jim Rochford won the €50 in the recent Galbally restoration fund draw. €25 each went to Tom Byrne and Ann Fenlon.

ATHLETICS NEWS

Training continues for all athletes age U5 upwards in Ballyhogue GAA Club grounds every Monday and Wednesday evening from 6.30pm – 7.30pm. €2 per training session to a max of €5 per family. Training for Bree AC members continues until 8pm. New members are always welcome. The Co Athletic Championships take place on May 1st in the DMP Grounds, Sinnottstown Lane and on the 8th May in Bree. Best wishes to all involved.

COMMUNITY GAMES NEWS

The Co Community Games Swimming Finals were held on recently in New Ross. Bree / Davidstown were represented by five swimmers and all performed extremely well. Silver medalists were Niamh Doyle (Carrig) in the U8 Freestyle, Christopher Reidy (Carrig) in the U10 Freestyle and Sarah Byrne (Ballyhogue) in the U12 Backstroke. Benjamin Reidy (Carrig) in the U8 Freestyle won a bronze medal. Narrowly missing out on a medal, by finishing in fourth place in the U10 Freestyle final was Sarah Doyle (Carrig). Well done to all involved.

THE HIGH KINGS

'The High Kings' make a return visit to the Riverside Park Hotel on Thursday, 5th May. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets @ €30 are available at the parish office and at the Hotel Reception. Proceeds are in aid of Phase 3 of the Refurbishment of Bree Community Centre. Your support would be appreciated.

ACADEMY DANCING

The dancing class is developing a Dance Studio in the former playgroup room in Bree Community Centre at present. The official opening of this Dance Studio takes place, in conjunction with the Charity Auction, on Easter Monday.

CHERNOBYL QUIZ

There will be a Fundraising Table Quiz and Draw in aid for Chernobyl Aid Ireland on Friday, 29th April in Byrnes, Bree at 9.30 pm. €20 per Table and ticket for the draw are €2 per strip or 3 strips for €5. There are numerous prizes. All support would be greatly appreciated.

GAA NEWS

Congratulation to Lorraine Sullivan, Edward Somers, Larry Crean, Laura Butler and Denis Ryan who matched 3 numbers in the Ballyhogue GAA Lotto.

The jackpot will now be €4400 for the next draw which takes place in Byrnes of Bree on April 20th.

Well done to the U16 footballers who beat Buffers Alley in Bree recently on a score of 3-14 to 3-06. Model County draw tickets are now available from club members.

BREE NS ENROLMENTS

Parents wishing to enroll children in Bree NS for the coming school year commencing in Sept 2011 are asked to please contact the Principal for enrolment forms and details before the end of April. Telephone 053 9247725.

BALLYHOGUE NS

Enrolments for Ballyhogue NS for September 2011 are now taking place. If you wish to enroll your child call to the school or ring 053 9247677 for an enrolment form.

BREE YOUTH CLUB

There will be no youth club on Good Friday 22nd April or on Friday 29th April as the Junior members will travel to Taghmon for their Junior Disco. There will be youth club on Friday 6th May at the usual times. On Friday 13th May the senior members will travel to Taghmon for their last disco of the club year. Friday 20th May is the last club night of the year and there will be a party for Junior members from 6.30pm until 8pm and for seniors from 8pm until 9.30pm.
