BREE/GALBALLY

BREE UNITED OPEN EVENING

Bree United Soccer Club are holding a barbeque and presentation evening at Macmine pitch on Friday 29th June starting at 7pm. Everybody welcome. Mini 5 a side games etc on the night so come along and join in the fun. Bree United AGM will be held on Monday 9th July in meeting room in Bree Hall at 8pm. Thanks to all managers and parents for their hard work and support during the season. Also a big thanks to sponsors Leisuremax and Dempsey Roofing (sponsors).

'SEISIUN' RETURNS

The ' Comhaltas Seisiún' Sessions, in association with Celtic Roots, return to Bree Community Centre on 10th July and continue weekly on Tuesday nights at 8.30pm for the months of July and August. Each Session begins with the serving of scones and tea / coffee followed by a full programme of Music, Song, Dance and Storytelling. Cost is €10 for adults with concessions for large groups and children. For bookings and further details contact 087-7535354.

GAA NOTES

Ballyhogue will play Monageer at 8pm in Monageer this Thursday 28th June. Well done to the Bree parish Rackard League Team on reaching the County Final where they lost a closely fought final against Horeswood last week.

The Lotto was held in Bree on 13th June. The winning numbers were 5,20,23,27. There was no winner of the Jackpot or no Match 3 winner. Christy Ring won the lucky dip. The next draw will be held on 27th June at 8.30pm.

LADIES FOOTBALL

The Junior team had a good win recently over Taghmon with a scoreline of 3-10 to 2-6. Well done to all concerned. Training for all teams continue at usual times and new members always welcome.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

A total of €235 was collected at the IHCPT Church Gate Collection over Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th June in Galbally and Bellevue churches. Sincere thanks to all who contributed to this worthy cause. Thanks also to those who supported the Rehab Collection in the parish at the beginning of June. A total of €372.16 was collected.

BREE FAIR DAY

The Annual Bree Fair Day will be held on Sunday, 5th August. Once again it will feature the usual stalls along with children's Fancy Dress Comp, Go Karts, Best Dressed Pet, Best Produce, Art and Photographic Competitions, Children's Baking Competitions and Best Container/window box. Talent Competitions (U13 & U18) and Skittles Tournaments (U16 & Senior) will be the main features on the day. The Annual Householders draw will also be held in association with Bree Fair Day.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION

Scoile Naofa Seosaimh Parent Association would like to announce its formation. Thanks to Principal Essie Morris, Fr Murphy and the Board of Management, the school staff and the National Parents Council for their unstinting support and assistance in setting up the Association. Parents, keep an eye on schoolbags for forthcoming information and 'watch this space' as the 2012-13 school season gets underway

MEN'S SHED

The next meeting of the Mens Shed group will take place in Bree Community Centre from 10 a.m. to 12 midday on Friday 6th July. All are most welcome.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Well done to all of the Bree Davidstown Community Games athletes who competed in the Athletic Finals on Saturday last in Craanford. A total of thirty six gold medals, sixteen silver medals and three bronze medals were won by the local athletes.

Thirteen individuals as well as four relays ie Mixed U10, Boys U12, Girls U14 and Mixed U15 will represent the area and the county in the National Finals in Athlone this August.

The individual winners were: U8 Amy Doyle (60m) and Leah Nolan (80m); U10 Katie Whelan (100m), Sophie Codd (Hurdles) and Liam Doyle (Hurdles); U12 Katie Mai McCabe (600m), Kate Fenlon (Ball Throw) and John Kehoe (100m); U14 Aoife Cloke Rochford (100m), Annalise Crean (800m), Sophie McCabe (Long Jump), Chloe Whelan (Hurdles) and Ryan Murray (Hurdles). Silver medal winners were U10 Lucy Kehoe (Hurdles); U12 Ava Dempsey (Ball Throw) and Cian Wickham (Ball Throw); U14 Shane Fenlon (100m) and U16 Aideen Kane (100m). Bronze medal winners were U10 Ben Harrington (Hurdles); U14 Nicole Furlong (100m) and Dean Doyle (100m).

Finalists were U8 Ciara Byrne (60m), U10 Roisin Kennedy (200m) and Cillian Doyle (100m); U12 Daire Cloke Rochford (100m). Also competing were Conor Hassey, Aaron O'Connor, Ryan Whelan, Oisin Cloke Rochford and Conor Rodgers. Gold medal Relay winners were U10 Liam Doyle, Sophie Codd, Katie Whelan, Cillian Doyle, Lucy Kehoe and Leon Sinnott; U12 John Kehoe, Daire Cloke Rochford, Cian Wickham, Peter Rodgers, Eamonn Doyle and Paul Roche; U14 Chloe Whelan, Aoife Cloke Rochford, Nicole Furlong, Sophie McCabe and Olivia Howe and U15 Mixed was Kasey Doyle, Aideen Kane, Aoife Codd, Ryan Murray, Daragh Byrne and Fin Condon.

Silver medal relay winners were U13 Mixed Colm Parnell, Paul Roche, Olivia Howe, Katie Mai McCabe, Ava Dempsey and Jim Doyle and U14 Dean Doyle, Shane Fenlon, Enda Minogue, Brandon Sinnott and Nick Doyle. Well done to all involved. Bree Davidstown was also winners of the best banner competition. Training continues to take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7pm.
